This is a lucky reflection shot from a moving car.
My question is: where am I in the pic?
I seem to have accidentally achieved one of those magic angles where the photographer is in the blind spot of a reflection capture by tilting the camera lens a certain way; something like the Dutch Angle.
A 'dutch angle' is achieved by tilting the camera off to the side so that the shot is composed with the horizon at an angle to the bottom of the frame.
Approaching Dumbleyung from Wagin. Just missed that reflection shot by another 10mm or so drop of rain!
eunice took the picture, I cropped and zoomed this section a bit. I like our positions and the look in this picture.
Following on from yesterday's reflection shot, here's another from inside the Bishop's Palace in Wells. There's a 'dressing up' box and rail where you can dress up as a Bishop and other characters.
And before anyone says it, no i'm not in fancy dress! :-)

after a spectacular reflection shot of half dome nearly ruined by sensor dust (and hence will be buried in the archives), we went to lower cascade falls towards the end of day two.
i was able to climb near to the top to see the main lower cascade falls, but the better compositions were in the small creeks near the parking lot.

-singh-ray 3-stop nd filter that i borrowed from stephen
-a pretty scratched up conkin 2-stop nd soft grad filter that i borrowed from brian placed on the right to even out the light
-minimal editing in LR2.5

A fairly straightforward planetarium reflection shot enlivened by a little lens flare. Note the pentagonal shape, reflecting the cheap five-bladed aperture iris on the 35ES.
A series of reflection shots taken in the La Defense business district of Paris. All 3 shots were taken using the same reflective globe, which shows the variety of buildings within the surrounding area.

Yes, this is a very "busy" reflection shot...different from others I've done in that it was taken from indoors, rather than outdoors.
I was waiting for my order to be prepared & packed in an *extremely* small neighborhood take-out restaurant and decided to take a photo of the reflection in the door. You can see me at the right, with a blue hat, holding my camera. In the center are two customers having a quick bite at the counter (only 3 stools--the only seating!). To the left, behind the counter is the woman who serves and/or packages the food, but she is wearing a black hat and sweater; her sleveless white apron and is barely visible. There's so little light in the place, it's really a challenge to photograph!
A bit of the street beyond the door is visible as well, shadowy buildings and cars...

Out on a limb with a zoom lens to capture this reflection shot on the Hoc Roc Creek in Gravenhurst, Ontario,CA.
So most railfans have heard of the Folkston GA Funnel. I was able to make a fast pit stop there and realized it was the most boring town that existed in Georgia. So I took a short little walk to a clothing store and saw this idea... What if I shoot through the window...? So I did. This is the crazy reflection shot I got out of it.

I took these photos at the 2010 Carnevale in Venice in early February 2010. This is the second set of photos since the first one was getting way too big.
For the most part I just wandered around the piazza looking for different characters with elaborate and creative costumes and masks - and they were everywhere - it was such fun shooting with these people - most of whom were so good to shot with. Enjoy.

Last Thursday I went on a bike trip to Germany again, together with the lovely Miss A. We biked 180 kilometers, from Amsterdam to Enschede, in one day, and then had to spend the night in a crappy hotel because there were no trains anymore going to our final destination. The next day we biked the last 75 kilometers and had a fun weekend, there was a big festival going on and we met lots of nice people. Monday we came back home to the best city in the world, sadly we had to travel mostly by train because there was a major thunderstorm hovering above the Netherlands. The trip was great anyway and we'll go again soon I hope :)

Taken from Wiley's Drive. Not much time with light after work. Sky clear I headed down to Wasena park Wiley's Drive for reflection shots before twilight was darkness.
By the MAR 2008 date of this reflection shot, BNSF's Harbor Sub was no longer a through route to the Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles. The track rr west of Century Blvd along the east end of the original two LAX run ways was used to store empty stack cars. This was actually a shove move to the end of track with a train of stack empties that just "happened" to end with the power adjacent the glass building at the corner of Aviation and El Segundo Blvd's.

I took a day off from chasing moose. One of us needed a break. :)
I went to Jim and Mud lake in hopes of some decent reflection shots but the clouds to the east and over the mountains didn't give much opportunity. While waiting a family group of Trumpeter Swans came into the lake. Not in shooting range but still fun to watch. Decided I would shoot a leftover day. Ya say WHAT?
Thought I would shoot leftover colors. Not much color left in the trees but the understory is pretty nice in places. Spent 2-3 hours doing that. The light got no better on the mountains so decided to come to the house. One of the creeks I crossed on the way home was just full of spawning Silver Salmon. So I backtracked a ways and took a trail that follows the creek in hopes of finding a hole where I could get some shooting of the salmon. Well no luck there but as toots and I were going along the creek I spotted a Spruce Hen on a sandbar across the creek. Now toots is a very good partner while birding but the hen was nearly to much. She started across the creek. I whoa-ed her and she stopped in the creek. I made her sit. So I start shooting the hen. I look at Toots and I will be darned if an American Dipper was sitting about 5 feet from her. Toots had it eyeballed to. She was just shivering. Not sure if it was from the cold water or the birds just being so darn close. Shot a few shots more of both birds and then I release Toots. The Dipper flew the coop as soon as she moved. When toots hit the other side of the creek she went into bird dog mode. Slowly she crept. Step by Step. Spruce Hens are not the brightest bulbs in the box. Slowly she crept. At about 5 feet the creeping stopped and the flush began. The hen easily out maneuvered her and flew into a spruce tree. Toots just turned and looked at me with that didn't I do good dad look. Shes such fun.

Always good to get a reflection shot when documenting a new bird. I only saw the willet on that one day but I made the most of the opportunity. Such a beautiful bird.

I had the pleasure of attending the Carnevale in Venice in February 2011 - what a great experience! This was about my 4th or 5th Carnevale and they keep getting better. Many of the masked characters recognized me from prior years and gave me great access for photos. I also had the chance to shoot with many others; some in masks and costumes, some face paintees, and some faces in the crowd - great fun. Because of the large number of photos I took during the Carnevale I will use a separate set for each day to make it manageable. These photos are from my first day there, Sunday, 27 February 2011.
I can see a woman's body in this reflection shot - breasts, navel and two green legs! What do you see?
