A few weeks ago we decided to visit Kamp Westerbork after hiking nearby.
Kamp Westerbork was a transit camp to mainly Auschwitz and Sobibor during World War II. It was also known as "the foyer of Hell"
over 100.000 people were deported and killed after being transported from Westerbork.
As we do almost every time we took some of our analog gear with us.

This Small Tortoiseshell was basking on the rails of a disused railway line in West Yorkshire. What is it with butterflies and steel as I have just posted a Grayling from the same industrial site perched on a steel chain. There were plenty of suitable flowers around too.
Everybody seems to be in agreement that butterflies are having a bad year and Small Tortoiseshells are no exception. Small Tortoiseshells has a complicated flight period because the number of broods varies with latitude and weather. They always spend the winter as an adult butterfly, emerging in the first warm days of spring. In most of Britain they have two broods a year; late June and late August, but in the north (especially Scotland) just one brood is typical. In northern England after cold, wet springs delays the emergence to mid July, and these will feed and hibernate in the autumn. This butterfly looks freshly emerged so I am assuming it is a late emerging first brood.
In Arles and Avignon street lights are using LED bulbs.
Looks like magic: the light is there, but no bulb.
This particular kind of street lights (plexiglass?) I saw only in Avignon.
Avignon, Provence.

Have at it if you'd like.
