Hay trenes que pasan solo una vez,

otros que esperan a ser tomados.

quizas en ésta utopía te encuentre viajando.

Very cold morning but the rails were warm.

Sony A57, Sony 18-70, CP filter . . . Much nicer on black.

Lying flat on my stomach in the middle of the railway line I had a few park visitors wondering whether I had decided to make an end to it all.

The Weber Spur Trail is an abandoned Union Pacific Railroad right of way. The rails were removed a few years back. Construction has begun on the northern portion of the trail to convert it to a bike & hike trail

HI friends, it's been a long time and I have missed you all! I am doing well, navigating a busy but life-giving season. You know the feeling you get when you are doing something you were MADE to do? I feel like that right now! It's fantastic...and I love it. Yet my heart hankers for the camera, Flickr and your gorgeous faces! ;)

Have a great Saturday...I am counting the days til the Ridin' the Rails day with Soupatraveler and MamaOwl.

National Railway Museum Port Adelaide

Old railway line used for pulling the catch up the beach at Dungeness, Kent, England.

The Nerobergbahn is a funicular railway in the city of Wiesbaden, Germany. The line links the city with the Neroberg hill to its north, where visitors may view a panorama of the city. The line opened in 1888, and is one of the few funiculars with water propulsion. At the upper station, tanks on the downbound car are filled with up to 7,000 litres of water to ensure that it is heavier than the upbound car. The downbound car can then pull the upbound car uphill with a 452-metre long steel cable. When the downbound carriage arrives at the lower station, the water is discharged and pumped uphill.

Often some slices of conversations with friends, family and people I meet keep spinning around in my head. And every now and then these daily conversations affect the next photograph just a little bit more.

I have been thinking on how certain journeys in life are, to a certain extend, the prologue to the present.

That many aspects of the “now, can often be retraced to specific moments of making decisions of all kinds and with regards to many subjects.

A bit as in traveling; I am not referring to the trivial pursuit kind of travels, where the adventure of the journey becomes an end in itself rather than a discovery of unanticipated surprises. To me the unexpected travel is not about putting yourself in the random mood, just sending you off completely unprepared on unpredictable paths.

But sometimes I feel like being dropped at crossroads unexpectedly, realizing that some of the most impactful or intimate moments of bliss would never happen, without making choices to turn left or to turn right.

Is it so that by choosing a direction the impact of consequences can be recalled later, in such a way that I’ll be able to point it out precisely…

I kind of wonder about all those trails never taken or doors just closing in front of me, a fraction too late, because I was hesitating.

There remain still that many rails untraveled, stations undiscovered and platforms deserted. And for now it feels as if I find myself in an empty station and yet I can hear the whistle blow …

Abandoned rails hidden among the plants in the suburbs of Milan

This is the home of the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre. Really a great place and so much more than I was expecting.

This line is still in use for freight trains but passenger trains will return in the near future and even talk of the second track being added again.

This short wagon carries rails, a type of load it seems it wasn't really designed for. Vila Real, Portugal.
