This was tonight from my back porch. The sky was beautiful. I need some help with the sunset thing though.
How do I get the trees in the foreground exposed somewhat properly and not lose the detail in the sky?
Thanks in advance!

Teleposts should be properly adjusted to keep floors from sagging, but teleposts only have so much adjustment in them. If you see more of the "screw-like treads" than this picture, you may need new teleposts. Contact the experts at Peak Structural for a free evaluation at (303) 243-3028 or www.peakstructural.com
Could not properly Geotag this location because yahoo maps are terrible compared to google maps.
The galeries were "designed by the young architect, Jean-Pierre Cluysenaer, who determined to sweep away a warren of ill-lit alleyways between the Grasmarkt / Marché aux Herbes and the Kruidtuinberg / Montagne aux Herbes Potagères and replace a sordid space where the bourgeoisie scarce ventured to enter with a covered shopping arcade more than 200 m in length." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galeries_Royales_Saint-Hubert
London Borough Market Southwark Young's Brewery Wheatsheaf English Pub Sadly, the Young's Beer is watered down tasting insipid and relatively flat. It just may be that they had not properly flushed the lines, as I was an early customer.
New Bike Day! I've been trying to find a properly sized replacement for my tiny Bianchi Pista for too long now. I took all the parts off several months ago and sold the frame and a few bits. I'm built a little disproportioned and it's hard to find decent off-the-peg bikes that fit.
I finally found that Spicer made taiwanese frames that were darn close. I contacted them and they were out of stock. However, Gene Spicer stepped up and is a HERO this week. Thanks, Gene!
You can check them out at www.spicercycles.com. Amazing people!
PS, if you're wondering why I just got a new bike after semi-recently getting the fast boy, the answer is easy. These parts are all budget (and used from my last bike), the frame is powdercoated and cost far less than the FB. I was riding the FB like crazy, beating it up and too worried about leaving it locked up for more than 5 minutes. So it still gets ridden regularly, but I'll be taking this when I know I gotta leave it.
As per request of one of my flickr-friends, Michael - mdkistler -
here a variation in black&white.
Which one is your preference?
And Why?
I think we can all learn a great deal from each other
by sharing insights of how we see and feel a photograph.
Thanks for being involved.
A naked ploy for a year-end gratuity. And it won't work, not when it rained cats and dogs yesterday and I had to dry yesterday's paper in the oven.
Maybe a boiler was in this corner? They used to have wood cookstoves with built-in boilers... If the house was built in 1926, though, I think electric and gas stoves were also common. Just not sure.
To properly celebrate Yelp's 10th anniversary, the Greek gods had left their thrones on Mount Olympus and took off to one of Greece's notorious party islands. The Berlin Yelp Elites had to select their own 10 Yelp heroes. The celebration took place at the Athena Roma in Berlin: bit.ly/1q7hubz

Properly known as Anemone Rivularis, this Glacier flower is home in the Himalayas, however, I was grateful to not have to travel that far in order to take this photo! Branklyn Garden provided me with the privilege.
For reasons that were never properly explained, my Dad was laughing to himself this morning as he imagined how I would react to riding a traghetto. I am not sure that he imagined that every time he tried to take a picture of me and my Mom riding the traghetto, I would inadvertently hold up my own camera to take a selfie or something. Here I am riding a traghetto. Please don't look at how many grey hairs I appear to have.
Properly "Thornthwaite, Braithwaite and Newlands Home and Garden Show" - a traditional village show with competitive classes for Garden Produce, Flower Arranging, Handicrafts, Photography, Cookery, Preserves and Honey. Also childrens' classes for handwriting, art work, modelling and baking!
We have been closely involved with this show for the last 19 years - my wife as Show Secretary and me as 'stage manager' but this year a new secretary has taken over .

Lobster suppers, usually served in large community-hall like rooms, are an Island tradition. There seems to be a rivalry between this place and the one in St. Ann's as to which one originated these types of lobster suppers and which is the oldest endeavour.

After being properly instructed to make matcha in Japan (thank you, Obubu Tea Farm!), these are my first attempts to make it at home. I brought back some nice matcha, and the chawans that have been patiently tolerating various teas and even non-tea foods are proving very effective & attractive for their intended use.
The boys were very curious about the buckwheat flowers from the garden, arranged in a Shawn McGuire vase. Here Nebula bites some of the flowers!
The mix of dried and fresh blossoms on these branches, from three species of buckwheat still in bloom, is very typical of fall in the desert.

It's difficult to properly i.d. Cypress varieties even when you're close enough to see all the characteristics. In this case, as much as I enjoy trying...forget it.
Second day of our West Coast trip. We flew into Portland, Oregon and drove the length of the west coast to San Diego over ten days.

Leamington Spa, properly Royal Leamington Spa, commonly Leamington or "Leam" to locals, is a spa town in central Warwickshire, England.
Until the beginning of the 1800s, Leamington was a village named Leamington Priors.
In 1814 the Royal Pump Rooms and Baths were opened close to the River Leam. This grand structure attracted many visitors, hoping to soothe various aches, pains and ailments by bathing in pools filled with the salty spa water. It also included the world's first gravity fed piped hot water system in modern times, which was designed and installed by the engineer William Murdoch. Leamington soon became a popular spa resort which attracted the wealthy and famous, and construction began of numerous Georgian townhouses to accommodate visitors.
Leamington's reputation soon spread. The town gained its "Royal" prefix in 1838, granted by Queen Victoria, who visited the town as a Princess in 1830 and as Queen in 1858, and whose statue still stands in the town.
Miriam and I set out to document what we knew would not last in our city and its surroundings, with a special emphasis on signage and commercial presentation. These photos from 36 years ago yield plenty of treasures to the careful eye.
Or, more properly, an Alaskan Coastal Brown Bear.
We just returned from a trip off the grid into Lake Clark National Park, Alaska. We stayed at an amazing place called Silver Salmon Creek Lodge.
This was truly an amazing life experience. Deep in wild Alaska, the bears were astonishingly close. This nine-year old male was the very first bear we saw up close, and his power and hostility scared us. But he is beautiful, nonetheless.
Alaska at its finest.

Staying seated continuously can cause shortening problems in the muscles of the front of your body. This is never a good thing when it comes to performance or injury prevention. The region that suffers the most? The hip flexors! Both in the superficial and deep tissues.

Properly converted these using Silkypix. Unfortunately, it did this weird thing where any overexposed areas have neon green and yellow in the highlights instead of white. Really odd. Anyone know a fix for this?
My penalty for trying to surreptitiously photograph these ladies, was to be made to take it again properly. Still no smiling for the camera though!
