We call them "Fish Flies" in Michigan, but this type is properly called Giant Mayfly (or Michigan Mayfly). The adults are short-lived (Ephemeroptera), and erupt from the water by the millions in late Spring to early Summer. Fish and birds must love this "banquet" time of year.
This Common Grackle seems to have found a tidy snack of "Fish Flies".
Properly edited version. Shot of a great sunset on the Kickelhahn near Ilmenau in the Thuringian Forest. The sky literally burns and are reflected by the fog in the valley. Thanks Tanja for being part of this picture.
Here in Diano Marina on the Italian Riviera, it is currently always around 100 percent humidity without it raining properly. If there is precipitation, then only briefly. The moisture on the ground evaporates immediately with this heat and forms a mysterious haze. The picture has largely come about through Midjourney.
I liked the pattern where the backplate had been before it was moved to make our garden gate close properly after it had warped.
“No one term properly or adequately describes this iris as it is a subtle blending of rich and intense deep chocolate and red brown with a hint of sultry, still deeper chocolate. Blooms are flaring; color is sunfast, and substance heavy. A rich beauty.” -Schreiner
‘Dutch Chocolate’ is a Tall Bearded Iris that typically grows to 35” tall. Flowers bloom May-June. Hybridized by Schreiner. Registered in 1970. Standards and falls are shades of warm red chocolate with red chocolate beards.
Thank you very much for your kind comments and visit, much appreciated! 🙋♀️
The Athabasca Glacier is one of the six principal 'toes' of the Columbia Icefield, located in the Canadian Rockies. The glacier currently loses depth at a rate of about 5 metres (16 ft) per year and has receded more than 1.5 km (0.93 mi) and lost over half of its volume in the past 125 years. Easily accessible, it is the most visited glacier in North America. The leading edge of the glacier is within easy walking distance; however, travel onto the glacier is not recommended unless properly equipped. Hidden crevasses have led to the deaths of unprepared tourists.

Private properly and a barbed wire fence presented the best comps here..
But still a pleasant scene nonetheless...
A Rockhopper penguin porpoising his way to shore - - it was amazing watching a whole colony come swimming back to shore after an afternoon of fishing - - out on the water the "colony" of penguins is properly called a "raft" of penguins - - and once on shore - - they are a "waddle" of penguins - - "colony" is a more generic term I guess.
I was able to get an individual in the frame by using a heavy crop in this case.

Well what a disappointment ,through my own fault really , didnt read the information page properly ! Thought the Balmoral ,seen amongst the yachts , was going to come up and under the Menai Bridge yesterday .. however I got the day wrong , it was today she was doing that ...!
All in all i'm pretty pleased how this turned out, with help from P.Shop! not too bad , considering it was taken so far away actually I'm standing right in front of the Menai Bridge !

Can you imagine 1000 years ago walking into this sacred place to commune with your ancestors and spirits and you step around the corner to see what looks like a figure of living rock patiently waiting for you ask it questions if you were brave enough to ask.
This shot was two steps forward from the shot yesterday highlighting the fact that composition is something that should be fluid and experimented with, two steps in any direction can make all the difference in the world.
Upper Antelope Canyon is a spot not to be missed and I am thankful I got a chance to photograph it properly before the last of the photo tours concluded.
Another lesson learned is always double check your equipment, after this shot my lens switch got knocked to manual focus by a tourist as we squeezed by to set up for next shots and what should have been 100 usable shots was greatly diminished.
Normally I am more observant but I had bagged and taped up my camera completely in plastic to keep fine dust out and was under constant pressure to set up and get out of tour groups way so my bad but at least I got a few keepers.
I took this with my D750 and Tamron SP 15-30mm 2.8 G2 Lens at 26mm 1s, f/11 ISO 100 processed in LR, PS +Lumenzia

I have been wanting to properly photograph this species for so long. They are one of my fave birds too.
I am quite proud of my editing here. Because the genius who made the post/floaty couldn't actually have the rope fit properly over the nail!

When properly channelled, it can be a source of life, twisted though it may be. This is why I call myself the Plague Doctor. I take the world's Corruption, toxic to your kind, and I filter, cleanse, and consume it. In this way, everyone wins.

The old town of Matillas,
Speaking properly we should talk about Matillas (the old one) and La Estación (the new one). Let's start with the original: located in the valley of Henares, next to the Roman road to Zaragoza, it was founded and baptized in the repopulation of the XII-XIII centuries, giving it such name for the existing vegetation. It was integrated into the Common Lands of Atienza until the fourteenth century, when it passed to the Lord of Jadraque. Its people lived on cereal (wheat, barley and rye) and sheep.
In this term, due to its location, important battles were fought in the War of Succession (18th century), Carlistas (XIX) and Civil War (In) (1936-39) that left their trail. When the quarries were launched in 1904, the industry and the railway arrived that caused the ruin of the old town and the birth of a new one, next to the factory and station (La Estación).
... as seen from Cable Bridge. The area around Cardiff Docks was once referred to as Bae Teigr - Tiger Bay - because of how rough a neighbourhood it was supposed to be. By the time of the First World War, Cardiff Docks were moving nearly 10 million tons of coal per year from the Welsh mines to the rest of Britain and the world. These peaceful new developments are less than 20 years old, part of the complete redesign of Cardiff Bay at the turn of the Century. How times have changed...

Roseate Spoonbill, not much to say here, it was fun shooting this bird landing on grassy field. since it was close, I had shutter speed to 1/4000 sec at f2.8. One of the issue I see with this bird is hard to capture the true colors when is full sunlight, since this shot was take at noon, it was very bright, I had to lower the exposure to bare minimum for me to properly expose the colors, even after that I had to reduce the highlight in Capture one to present somewhat dark pink colors. hope you like it.

Yesterday, Yashka never let the groomer cut his muzzle properly. The paws were also only half cut. He bit her and the groomer failed to finish the job. Nevertheless, we paid her the full cost, and now we are trimming Yashka at home - little by little, each time encouraging him with all sorts of treats.

I was so pleased to see that the puffins were still at their nesting site as they would be leaving soon to go out to sea for the winter. We met people just a few days after we were there and they didn't see any puffins. Timing is everything! I had an absolutely amazing evening with them when they flew much closer. Actually, they flew in just as we were arriving so 5 more minutes and I could have set up properly. After they started wandering around, no one moved so they would not be disturbed. This is one of the wonderful close-up views that I got. Taken at Elliston, Newfoundland.
Thank you for your visit and comments. They are very much appreciated.

You need to focus on one of the eyes to see this properly... as his facial hair tends to take over.
Its been quite some time since I have blogged properly. I needed a bit of a break. I have been involved with a number of other projects but I have kept a few sponsors.

More properly known as Coypu (Myocastor coypus), a destructive invasive in Texas, previously over-running the Riverstone Wetlands in Sugar Land. Then a alligator came into the wetlands, maybe from the nearby Steep Bank Creek, and the nutria were gone. Now the alligator's gone, possibly removed from these family-friendly wetlands, and the nutria are back. Nutria eat tree roots and grass stems as seen here. BTW, the red incisors are typical of rodents.
