The current City Hall building is a near-50-year-old structure that has served the city well but, in its current state, is functionally obsolete. Built in 1969, the current City Hall requires major renovations that are complicated by the presence of friable asbestos and the way the electrical and mechanical systems were installed.
On October 3, 2017, Virginia Beach city council unanimously approved a resolution to proceed with the design of a new city hall building. The new three-story structure adjacent to the current city hall, between Buildings 1 and 2, is under construction and progressing well.

I'm still thinking that this building in the new shopping center being built on Pooler Parkway will be some kind of quick-service restaurant. When I saw this building last weekend, I noticed that the cinderblocks for the exterior walls were built up on three sides of this building, and the exterior brickwork was in progress. I also noticed that the framing and decking for the roof had also been added to the building.

This is a new dawn for America. I have to say that, for the first time that I can remember, I feel hopeful and optimistic about this country's future. Today I am especially proud of our country.
So.. I've been working from home, doing freelance work, since the end of May when I got laid off from Capitol. I've been looking for a full-time gig ever since.
We also recently moved. I now have a great office space where I can actually get work done from home comfortably.
Friday, I got a job offer. It's kind of bittersweet to get what I wanted and go back to work when I finally have an office that I love. But I'm happy to have a job again. :)
Progress continues on the farmhouse renovation as we sort out what to keep and what to toss (including a mattress box spring made in 1945) and start to imagine the remodeling projects.
I’m currently making two plush dolls for a special project, so I thought I’d share some in progress pics and talk about making them. :)

Then I cut everything out. It’s hard to tell that they’ll look any good at this point, lol.

Finishing is continuing on the rehabbed Atkins tote. Slapped it on the saw tonight to see how it looks and feels. Not sure which tote I prefer now. Going to reshape the one I made (the open tote in the photo) and see if it helps.
