The January 20/21 total lunar eclipse, blood moon in progress. My camera clock was off by 1 hour, 0 minutes and 50 seconds, so this image is actually taken at roughly an hour and a minute earlier than EXIF states.

A cool thing about this eclipse was that a Meteor hit the Blood Moon at exactly 11:41:10 (Reports differ, but it is 11:41: something.)

Take That performing their Progress tour at Wembley Stadium on Friday 8th July, ably supported by the Pet Shop Boys. Fabulous!

I believe I took this at the Crich 50th celebrations, which hits you like a bolt when you realise at the time you had been a member there for 39 of those 50 years. When I first went the Exhibition Hall was just a grass bank, and centre left was roughly where a line went in to undergrowth, and here was to be found the remains of Blackpool standard 158, before it became the guest of honour at the annual bonfire one year!!!

A sneak peak of what I'm up to. I'm hoping the next stage goes smoothly and I won't have to go back to the drawing board. So what do you think?

My favorite painting on the entire ship. Meant to invoke the the late 19th/early 20th century, this painting shows the agents of progress: the automobile, the train, and the ocean liner. The sun is rising on a new era, its rays shining on the city of tomorrow.

Everything takes longer than it does on YouTube.

This is a view down a gang (alley), very close to home. In fact, that’s our house on the right of the picture, with the dark grey wall. We never see most of this unless we go looking, because with houses in Bali generally everything faces in one direction. So this is just a high (for security) back wall, no windows, no access.

But when we got to Bali, this part looked quite different. All the of the land you can see in the photo was sawah (rice fields).

The owners let the fields dry out last year, and then built the paving on the left, creating a new gang. And then, for a long time, nothing. After a while I was sure I could hear some odd noises through the wall of my office, and that turned out to be these cows.

And then, over Christmas, while we were away, construction was started. I’d heard (again) noises before we left, but didn’t realise what was happening. By the time we returned, we could see the top of this construction from our kitchen.

It’s a villa, like ours, but two floors, and further down the gang they have a parking area and a small pool. Or at least they will eventually. It’s likely a rental property, and the first of maybe four or five that would snake their way back up to the street eventually.

Construction is concrete block which is eventually plastered over outside and in, which is what’s happening at the top of the wall just now. Scaffolding is bamboo, construction is very hands-on. Safety standards are… well, I’m not sure there are any.

The place will likely look very nice once they finish, though it might be hard to tell at this point.

Hallway wallpaper is going up.

This is Jo Ann, checking on the building in which she works. Progress is being made, but no one will be allowed to come back to work until October 1st - and even then, it's a fifty-fifty shot that there will be an internet connection. What used to be considered a luxury item - internet connection, is now a necessity for business to be conducted - for her, and for me. She's still got that swing!
