they continue to make progress on the new eastern half of the Bay Bridge -- compare to earlier photos:
the second deck (lefthand side of this) is slowly filling in, the first deck looks completely solid, and they're starting to build supports (?) for the suspension part of the bridge...

After a lifetime of not touching my hair with chemicals, I, on a whim, decided to walk into a salon and ask them to make me blond.
Admittedly, I do not feel like myself and I'm not sure that I will keep the color, but on the bright side, the bleaching process progressed my dreads by months... maybe six months.
When my dread journey began, my hair was VERY healthy. It had never been touched by chemicals, nor had it been treated with heat very often.
This really damaged my hair and made it super course, So many of my old fly aways are moving into the dreads now. And so many of my loose ends are dreading up as well.
At the salon, they used bleach and color, but did not use any shampoos or conditioners.

Every time I see my reflection, I hear myself gasp involuntarily.
I am resigned to keeping this color for a month. I'll decide what to do when the time comes to touch up my roots. I might dye it back to brown.
I'm making a series of ceremonial sashes in the colors of the seven traditional planets. These photos show various stages in the organization and assembly of the pieces the pale blue is for the Moon, purple for Jupiter, red for Mars, and orange for Mercury. The sashes for Venus, the Sun and for Saturn will likely have to wait until I have money for fabric again.

The Shag scarf is so easy and quick (and nearly done) that I wanted to start the Linked Rib scarf at the same time. Heh. Anyway, here it is after the first round of "Scarf Pattern". It is not the best knitting I have ever done, because I was having tension issues at first while getting used to the pattern (and because I have been learning to knit looser for the Shag scarf, and that caused me trouble on this one). But it is improving, and I think it should be fine from this point.
The yarn is Rowan Summer Tweed, color 534/Delicious -- discontinued! Why?
My second hand-cut for the Show & Tell is from BCD member Genest Le Colimacon, made in March 2021. I provided a cleaned scan from a canvas print I owned. This photo shows my path through the 766pc jigsaw, an extreme line-cut push-fit with a complex image (clockwise from top left).
The edge is decorative and consists of plants linked together which was straightforward to put together. I’ve seen Genest do this with chess pieces, and also wondered if this was a nod to Lucilla puzzles which I've spoken about in BCD meetings.
After completing the edge, I tend to work through the bright colours first, building colour assemblages in the trays. The jigsaw progresses in fits and starts, when a new section finds a place on the main board. The line-cutting of the figures imposed a break when building up from the lower edge, and in from the right edge. The blossom on the arbour of the walled garden was particularly difficult after some early success and was left until the end. Progress was mainly from right-to-left with the central group of three figures being the last to come together. Matching heads/hair to bodies wasn't straightforward.
One of the flying geese made for the Giant Swoon. The center is 19.5". Color 1 is a dark teal that is in the center fabric. As much as I don't love the idea of making a black, tan, gold and teal quilt (shudder), I do love these fabrics together...even if they are batiks.

Soon the river will open up and big chunks of ice will flow. I took this photo a couple of weeks ago and hope to check out the river this weekend.
I listen to books during my commute and was surprised by how much I enjoyed The Mighty Queens of Freeville. One of its themes is about prevailing through tough times.... so appropriate for these times.

Just random work in progress shots for the IMTP photography contest. First challenge is: 'Photobooth'.
So what I planned to do was create an image that plays with concept of what a photobooth really is. A photobooth is nothing more than a 'place' in which a portrait can be taken. I made the 'place' abstract, the location is 'the booth'. I wanted the photo to be mysterious and to really breathe a lot of atmosphere.
I chose two locations that I had scouted before the shoot: first location was going to be in the city, smack in the middle of the busiest bridge in Maastricht. Except that I didn't want any people in the shot except for my models, so we started shooting 5am in the morning. Even then, we still had a couple of drunk party-go-ers taking notice of our shoot.
The second location I chose is one I scouted by surprise when I was on my way to see my friends (the models). It is a secluded space surrounded by trees that really had an interesting atmosphere.
after some set backs with the pilers piston and various operating days work on MP6 is really coming along.
A sneak peak of what I'm up to. I'm hoping the next stage goes smoothly and I won't have to go back to the drawing board. So what do you think?
