Progress and Hope

This piece in Conte crayon represents the contrast between progress with and without understanding which is so critical in todays world. A steam locomotive billows smoke from its coal fire destroying the world while the bicycle represents a simple and pure transportation mode. The nude female is unburdened by prior understanding but instead seeks to understand the choices put before her. This is representitive of both the scientist and the child, with natural curiosity and unburdened opinion which is a far departure from the rest of the world who are driven by greed at the expense of the greater good.
