What a special early morning (birthday) present from Nature this morning. Yes he is tattered and close to the end of his life, but Australia's Cairns Birdwing, Ornithoptera euphorion, is still an exotic sight.
As I walked around the corner of the house this morning I accidentally startled away a Spangled Drongo that thought it was about to have a tasty snack. Yes this male Cairns Birdwing was on the paving at the front of my home this morning trying to hide by the leg of a chair.

LOWER MAINLAND, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA, 22/Oct/2016 --- The 16th annual 65 Roses Gala; presented by B2Gold Corp., is Cystic Fibrosis Canada Vancouver Chapter's signature event. This year the magical evening was held on Saturday, October 22nd at the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel. Since its inception in 2001, the event has raised over $3.5 million for important cystic fibrosis research, care and advocacy. Over 300 guests were in attendance to enjoy live entertainment, live and silent auctions and a multi course meal paired with wines from Narrative by Okanagan Crush Pad.

Being present isn’t easy for me. I have trouble
slowing down and enjoying the moment. One of the goals I’ve made for myself this year is to do more with my kids, laugh more with my family and really be present. Today was the first day of summer vacation. Late in the afternoon, I wanted to get some work done, but Cooper and Shelby weren’t having it. “Mama, I miss you,” Cooper said. So I closed my laptop and went outside with the kids. I sat on the back porch, put my feet up and enjoyed the cool breeze. The kids ran past me; begged me to watch whatever crazy thing they were doing; and they smiled from ear to ear. Being present is so worth it ... it tastes so good.

A veces falta alguien y le echamos de menos aunque en la vida diaria ni siquiera nos demos cuenta. De vez en cuando honramos su memoria tal y como mejor nos parece. Gracias, Sol, por permitirme participar de tu particular homenaje a alguien que sin duda es una de las personas más importantes de tu vida.
