No I wasn't in Quebec today... this place in downtown San Jose specializes in the wonderful world of poutine. I may be sorry I found this, but luckily it's just far enough away from home to prevent frequent visits - I don't need more unhealthy temptations. We'd already eaten when we saw this menu, but I'm eyeing the duck confit poutine for next time.
The sometimes squeaky cheese curds were yummy, but the gravy was bland. The fries were there, that's all I can say about them.
Stopped for a poutine with my 14 year-old sister, after the other's wedding rehearsal. The butterfly became rather attached to her....
Un petit déli à Victoriaville. Malheureusement, je n'avais pas le temps d'aller à Warwick. (next time)
Patate, sauce brune, fromage qui fait "squik squik": telle est ma quête.
Mondo Fritz, on St-Laurent close to Des Pins. Gourmet poutine, gigantic portions, nice place. I recommend to try a least once! Next door to the famous Schwart's smoked meat take out, easy to spot there's always a queue. :)
On the picture, Isabelle relunctantly posing hehe
This was during lunch when my friend and I went to go get some poutine, I had my camera so I decided to take a picture of it.
:)
I tried the poutine at McDonalds here in Vancouver (I've seen about a million ads on TV for it). It's alright but I'm not entirely sure about the gravy.
poutine with oxtail gravy and 10 year old aged vermont cheddar. from animal on fairfax in los angeles.
so good. so rich. so salty. heaven.
The menu at la Banquise is fairly comprehensive, but my favourite is the Obelix, with Montréal-style smoked meat added.
POUTINE! oh, and pizza. but the poutine is much more exciting. Yes, I actually ate this before roller skating and somehow did not die.
When I came across this restaurant earlier this summer I was skeptical despite being told by multiple people that they have the best poutine in Canada. My reasons for being skeptical were pretty simple. One, I've never had poutine. Two, I've never had cheese curds or let alone cheese fries. Three, I haven't had gravy in my life. That's the honest truth. On that day I decided change that and to go big, indulge in something I've never fathomed; a Veggie Nacho poutine. What's on a Veggie Nacho poutine you may ask? Well to start off there's the normal poutine: fries, cheese curds and gravy and then they kick it up with salsa, sour cream, guacamole and jalapeño peppers. I'm not going to tell you my opinion of my experience at Smoke's Poutinerie, you'll just have to go in there and find out for yourself!
Poutine from fast food chain A&W. I particularly didn't like this poutine, the cheese curds were exactly how they should be, cold yet fresh (and squeeky!), but the mixture of the soup-like gravy and fries didn't go well in my stomach. The closest thing to real poutine I have seen in Western Canada so far is from New York Fries, however the fresher colder cheese curds from A&W would be more welcome to NYF!
Sue's Aunt Lorraine just randomly sent this to me from northern Maine because she knows I like poutine!
This is what they tried to pawn off as a poutine at the Maple Leaf. Ya, it sucked. That's a pint of Sleeman's behind it...
Not only did this poutine contain vegetable matter, but the gravy was vegetarian too -- peppercorn sauce with white cheddar. Mmm, mmm!
McDonald’s is rolling out poutine, a treat formerly sold only in its Quebec restaurants, across the rest of Canada.
Are you a fan of fries with gravy and cheese curds?
Quebec curds, naturally pastured chicken gravy, poached farm egg, bacon lardons ($14). + Truffle mayo ($15)
Nicely fried fries, and a slew of hangover comforts. Great even when not hungover. Another brunch fave (fave is a misnomer because everything was good and everyone seems to love everything!).

Yum! I've been craving this since I've been back here on the east side. What better way than to have some poutine for my first meal of 2010!
Harvey's was a great change of taste. Miss that place too.
