Posting photos from an older trip… Taken last year, but I had only posted camera photos, not iPad ones.
I continue to work on posting Flickr album summaries of some of my earlier salt pond sessions. This album contains images from April 15, 2012. I have been photographing the former salt ponds on Station Island since 2008 or so. That start was just two years after the southern levees of Salt Ponds A20 and A21 were breached to allow what was once a salt evaporation impoundment to be connected to the tides again. In 2008, the pond bottoms presented at low tide as a bare plain of broken gypsum, a byproduct of the salt pond process. As the years progressed sediment started to accumulate, marsh vegetation took root, and the ponds began the slow process of becoming marsh again.
This set of photographs started with a visit to the southern end of Drawbridge. There I photographed the abandoned structures along Coyote Creek and then headed north along the railroad tracks. At the northern end of Drawbridge, I made a quick jog over to the northwest corner of Salt Pond A21 to continue my photo series of that area. Then it was back to the railroad tracks to grab a few shots of Salt Pond A20. I finished up by crossing Mud Slough and taking a few shots of the ever-entertaining Salt Pond A23.
I am taking these documentary photographs under a Special Use Permit from the Don Edwards National Wildlife Refuge. Kite flying is prohibited over the Don Edwards National Wildlife Refuge without a Special Use Permit.

Built myself a new PC. You should start seeing content a little bit more now that it's been up and running.
instead of posting comments post notes on the picture instead. Russell and I have a small conversation going already. Feel free to start another. I want to see if we can make it blow up.
My postings here have fallen further behind. This batch is over a year ago. I will attempt to catch up as my time permits. Please continue to check in as I slowly catch up.
Merrell makes several series of nifty shoes. These are the "barefoot" series, thin soles, zero lift, great running or hiking shoes. This particular pair is the "Lithe Glove" model, woman's size 8, a good fit for me.
I've worn them often, and one weakness of these older ones is that the glue holding the sole on fails. Here, the toes are "talking", dangling and often folding underneath.
In the year since these photos were taken, the out/mid soles have broken off at the toes, and are loose in the entire forefoot and again at the rear of the heel. Watch for newer photos, where they are becoming true "barefoot" shoes.

Malayan Tiger ... Male brothers
*********************************************************************************************************************************
I sure miss seeing the tiger cubs. I know they are very happy in their new homes but I just can't help missing them. Our zoo is doing a lot of renovations and adding some new big cat enclosesures so maybe we will get some Malayan tigers back. I will be posting more pictures of them off and on just because I have quite a few that have never been posted. I enjoy remembering them and how beautiful they are. I hope you all enjoy seeing them too.
Have a nice week everyone!

Hey it's @kevinkuster posting.
Last week I asked you guys to give us some theme suggestions and I chose one winner to be our guest #jj Celebrity Editor for the day. Our winner was Shree. Now take it away @shreekc.
Since Kevin has @joshjohnson out delivering donuts in the #voodoodonuts van today, he picked me, @shreekc to pick a theme and select highlighted images today. Just kidding! @kevinkuster picked my theme 'beautiful chaos' on Monday to do the highlights and the posts today. "It's a cruel and random works but the chaos is all so beautiful"- Hiromu Arakawa.
Theme: Beautiful Chaos.

The awesome picture above was submitted by @virus211 few days ago. It looks chaotic but oh so beautiful. I can even hear the kids (probably strangers) enjoying the cool water on a hot summer day.
So give me your beautiful but chaotic depiction of life, because let's admit it, there is exquisite beauty in chaos if we just look at it differently.

I continue to work on posting Flickr album summaries of some of my earlier salt pond sessions. This album contains images from October 31, 2010.
This set of photographs started with a visit to my usual corner (northeast) of former Salt Pond A21. There I spent a bit of time taking photographs of the pond bottom, the softening borrow ditch, and views toward Drawbridge. The new vegetation taking root along the raised edges of former marsh channels is a welcome development in the restoration project. So too, is the appearance of tide-deposited sediment. I then headed over to Drawbridge for views down the railroad tracks and some coverage of former Salt Pond A20. As the sun neared the horizon, I ended up across Mud Slough in the southwest corner of Salt Pond A23 for a few photographs thereabouts.
