I know, 3rd photo in less than 12 hours. I've been up all night with my sick dog and needed some distraction to keep me awake.
This is another photo I did a while ago, I spent part of the night going through my older photos and found a few that I never got around to posting. I'm off to get a bit of sleep now ; )
Have a nice day ♥

This posting should surprise no one!! giggling
The Macro Mondays theme for 5/8 is broken and I’m so glad I keep resisting the urge to cast this aside- to refuse to throw this away!! It’s a bottle that I have photographed a gazillion times. Will post a size verification a bit later.

I apologise for posting so many shot of Whitby recently. I have spent a couple of weekends near Whitby in the past few months and on both occasions the light was perfect. Whitby is so photogenic its impossible not to take a few photographs
THANKS FOR YOUR VISIT AND FOR TAKING THE TIME TO WRITE A COMMENT IT’S MUCH APPRECIATED.
IF YOU WANT TO FOLLOW MY STREAM I SUGGEST YOU OUGHT TO READ MY PROFILE FIRST
I'm re-posting this one because I made subtle changes in the editing and I think I like it better now.
It seems to be a popular shot alot of people had requested to buy a copie.
So I'm looking into framing it on Canvas and adding it to my collection for my craft shows at the end of the year!.
Unfortunately I can't edit out the print of the wood-board. Hens why it's in black and white the shot. The long stripe and print are in bright red and black. Which ruins the shot! Too much distraction I think...
Anyway I hope you you don't mind seeing the shot a second time... Hope you like it! :)
It is hard to stop posting flowers even when fall and winter are present. I guess there is not need to spot since many of us love them.
This one is a favorite of mine. Practically it doesn't need any type of care at all, even can flower during mild winters. They are edible usually in salads, sandwiches and soups, and used in homeopathy medicine.
Did you know that the Romans legions used their juice to treat their injuries?t I didn't. Lots of interesting stories about this humble and yet very useful flower:

Another fun fact, it has been use as a part of a game too ;)

Photography is one of my passions, and nature photography is my favorite.
I have been in Explore for more that a hundred times, and it is an awesome experience to have your photos showcased in such a special way.
I thank your for coming today, for leaving a comment, and make a favorite of yours this photo, (if that is the case) thanks again!
The best part of this forum is the contacts and friends that I have made over the years, that have the same passion for this art that is called photography!
Martha.

Posting one from the archive, just to remind us of the rich variety of autumn colors. This one captured at Great Brook Farms in Carlisle.
I usually follow the seasons more or less when I post, but what's a rule without exceptions? ;)
Hello from Sweden. No time for activity just saying helllo posting a snap from last evening.

I always liked this shot from last November, but never got around to posting it.
Another wishful thinking Owl shot.
Before posting this image, I wandered through Wikipedia-Land in an attempt to share factual information about this crinkly petaled poppy. I discovered that this poppy is most likely a Meconopsis Cambrica or Welsh poppy. One year I purchased this beauty, and the yellow flowers in the background, so they could take center stage in my garden. Their time in the spotlight was shorter than I'd have liked. At least I have this image.
juvenile marsh harrier (up) squawking at it's mum (down) for the moorhen chick in her claws. I don't know what I was doing with my shutter speed so excuse the quality lol but it shows some good behaviour. I'll be posting the mid air swap from the rear in about a week
Posting this for a 500x500 group for their weekly contest.

I promised I would not post anymore of this red flower, but I could not Not. :) This is the last of it for sure.
I took this shot on my walk back down to the car after watching the sunrise up on Yew Crag. The views down the Southern end of Ullswater are just wonderful all the way down this path. The sun was up and catching the fence posts, with the diagonal of the path leading my eye back down towards Glenridding and Patterdale.
Couldn't resist stopping and taking yet another shot of this Lakeland Winter scene.
Posting this Reddish Egret launching across Saint Charles Bay reminds me that I left another one in the midst of an attack on Bolivar. Next up, the rest of that story.
sorry everyone for re-posting the photo but I just happen to like the monochrome edit much better than the earlier color version (which will be removed presently)
The Zagreb Funicular connects the city's Lower Town with the historic Upper Town. Its 66-metre (217 ft) track makes it one of the shortest public-transport funiculars in the world. The funicular was built in 1890 and has been in operation since April 23, 1893. Initially it had steam engines, which were substituted with electrical engines in 1934.
The funicular runs on a 1,200 mm (3 ft 11 1⁄4 in) gauge track, track length is only 66 m (217 ft), but height difference is 30.5 m (100 ft) and inclination 52%. This makes it one of the shortest, but also one of the steepest funiculars in the world. It runs at a speed of 1.5 m/s (4.9 ft/s), needing 55 seconds to cross the distance. (from Wikipedia)
Mallorca 2013
Shall be posting an Image a day for the next year, 365 (or 366 if it is a Leap year...not checked!!).
The Format will be different...some images have been shown before, some are new...... At the moment I am now starting a "New" Project.....Well it is "New" for me, although it has been done before by many, many People too!!!.
I will follow the direction I have chosen but there is plenty of room for me to chop and change at a later date...I guess it depends how I feel about it at a later date.
This Project will now give me the time to work with other ideas I am playing with. There will still be months in which I post other pics too from themes I have worked with in the past......I have just made a little more time and space available to me.
So hope you like the changes.......
Posting one from the archives.
Thank you for the visit!
Taken in the canal at Wildwood Lake, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
I'm posting old shots these days. My camera broke and I never got around to fixing it or buying a new one before we went into isolation. Stay safe everyone and stay home.
Friends: Will be posting and commenting periodically while in ATX.
A view of downtown Austin as seen from the Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge that connects that north and south shores of Lady Bird Lake, a reservoir of the Colorado River. Google's beautiful new Austin office headquarters was completed earlier this year. The 594-floor building, with its west facing side shaped like a sail, is just one of several new and architecturally impressive downtown skyscrapers that are recently completed or are under construction.
To the left of center are the upper floors of The Independent, the tallest residential building in the United States west of the Mississippi River. The jenga-shaped, 690-foot structure became Austin's tallest building when it was completed in 2019. If you look closely in the distance behind and to the right of The Independent is Sixth and Guadalupe, a skyscraper under construction that already has topped out at 875 feet. And its reign as the city's tallest will be short-lived as construction already is underway on Waterline (98 Red River), that will become the tallest building in Texas at 1,022-feet when it is completed in 2026.
Austin is the capital of the State of Texas, as well as the seat of Travis County. With a population of just under one million residents, Austin is the 11th largest city in the United States. The Austin-Round Rock-San Marcos Metropolitan Area, now with a population of 2.3M, is one of the fastest growing large metropolitan areas in the country having added more than 579,000 residents since 2010. This place is booming!
I'm posting this image to my Flickr gallery with a story... It was taken by my daughter. Its one of her first images. She is on the autism spectrum and has always struggled to express herself in ways that other people can relate to. This image she made fills me with a whole wave of emotion. I took her with me for a walk at a park one day and gave her a point and shoot camera to use since I was carrying mine. It was completely un-coached, just a girl on a walk with her dad at a large park in Seattle. Shortly after that we moved and I packed the camera away. Just the other day I found it in a box, the SD card still in it... So I downloaded them. The images she brought home are so expressive and amazing it takes my breath away. I'm just sharing this one image because it gives me hope. And, I hope it speaks to you as well. You are not alone. God bless.
ALTHOUGH Wrens prefer to feed in the undergrowth, they typically emerge from cover periodically and perch in the open briefly.. He uttered a loud, rattling alarm call, I reeled of a few grabbed images and he was gone. Seen near the Restharrow Scrape Sandwich Bay Kent.

I've been posting images of two great horned owlets lately. This image is of another recently fledged owlet on the west coast of Florida. One of the parents was sitting directly above the owlet (not pictured) and the other was in a nearby tree keeping a close eye on junior.

Posting this image next, without the people, was a no-brainer. It's hard to believe that a large crowd of people was stood to my immediate right hand side. Wearing a pair of surf slippers, I was able to stand that bit further forward from the crowd. My main challenge was keeping my kit safe from the rushing swash.

During my visit to see the Large Blue again I spotted these two on the top of a grass stem.
I took a couple of photos at distance with a telephoto first to make sure I did not disturb them, before moving closer with the macro.
It was actually after taking most of the photos before I realised they were not actually attached, even those taken with the telephoto.
I then started thinking silly thoughts that perhaps as the male was so much older than his beautiful female perhaps he had lost his libido (something all of us old blokes have to look forward too)!!
Then images of an old rock star with a beautiful girl so the title of my blog posting was 'Like a Rolling Stone'.
I do think that mating had actually taken place as the female was content to stay there with the male until he flew off eventually. I guess I found them as the coupling had completed.
10 years ago when I last saw the Large Blue I also then found a mating pair with the male being much older than the female.
Posting tonight as I have an early Dental appt tomorrow. Another shot taken in my yard. I find the less colourful female American Goldfinch every bit as attractive as the more vividly coloured males. Seen here backlit while perched on a Mountain Ash that was planted not so long ago.
After posting the coloured image two days ago on 7th September 2022, I was kindly requested to post a black and white image for comparison.
Which do you prefer? The contrast between the light and shaded areas seems more vivid here. That's just my personal view.
This is from one of my walkabouts out behind my house. This flower is actually quite tiny, but I think it is holding its own beautifully.
How I love shooting in RAW. And oh, baby, bring on those post-processing curves and levels.
And just a touch of HDR!
Have changed this one a bit from the original posting so that I can put it in our new Flower Noir thread in Mama's Bloomers.

ITALY September 2018
In September 2018 we made a journey to Lake Como. The following images were taken on the Bernina Express from Tirano to St Moritz. This is the second of two postings.
Posting this for my brothers 50th birthday. He took this with my camera on North Uist. He was in the passengers seat which meant he was a little closer to the bird so I passed him the camera to have a go.
We must have seen 3 or 4 of these every day, at anytime during the day, and on other days more. You can see that this one has eaten very recently by the blood stains around the beak.
I really love this shot. I was going to hold off on posting it, because I've had a few edits that I wasn't going to make public yet, but when I did this one, I decided to post them all! This is my favorite and I couldn't wait!
For some reason, I haven't hit Explore for about 2 1/2 years, and I really wish this one could make the difference. Whether it ever does or not, I still like it and hope you do, too!
I continue to feel more normal each day, and though I'm still a trifle congested, it's not much more than on a regular allergy kind of day! Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts and prayers during this time. I very much appreciate it!

Okay I can see everyone rolling their eyes . . . another Christmas photo! But Monday was the last day of the train show at New York Botanical Garden and I was up there at sunset. Seems like an appropriate posting right?
posting for:
Looking Close on Friday: objects in pastel colours
I've always loved the pastel scenes my Flickr friends post. I found this really difficult so if anybody wishes to share a little expertise with me, that would be very welcome!
gratitude for all visits, faves and comments
I am posting two images together since they look somewhat similar in terms of the mountain range in the background, but they were taken from two different vantage points (facing different directions).
Taken before sunrise, from Valley View Hotel, facing Mounument Valley

Despite posting no more Norway 2016 images recently, I still have many, and recently discovered a few more.
This is from one of the best days from that holiday thanks to the weather, although when I woke up, the clouds in the distance were not pointing in that way.
The Geiranger fjord is one of the best in Norway for sure.
Lovely valleys, bare mountains and cold winds, snow packs, glaciers, beautiful lakes, and then there are the enchanting fjords that never stop to amaze. The most beautiful country of Europe, for me no doubt about that, with only one minor aspect, which is the weather. During my month of traveling I only had 4 really nice days, the rest of the time clouds, rain, and very changeable! Still no regret, and I will go back to make even more than the 3500 pictures that I took this time.
Another very active
vacation that took me to the south west up to Trondheim in a sort of triangle between Oslo- Trondheim and Bergen with the whole route visible here (www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10153668247101759&set...).
I couldn't resist posting this shot taken earlier today. One of our village lakes has its own little "desert island". Just a tiny strip of land about 15 feet long and 5 feet wide in the middle of the small lake - complete with a single palm tree! Recently a pair of masked lapwings set up a nest and a couple of days ago, three healthy chicks joined the two parents as the entire population of the little desert island! I was again fascinated by the fact that I got so close without a murmur from the parent birds, but anyone else got swooped! I must be the masked lapwing whisperer! ; )
Hi everyone, first time posting in awhile. I just took a social media break. What I found out is that Flickr was taking up way too much of my time and I wasn't getting important things done because of it. So I made a decision that I am only faving peoples images rather than commenting. I want to show that I am still appreciating your work even though I don't have the time to comment. If I do comment it means that your image is really loved by me and intrigued me a great deal. I will understand if you drop me because I can't reciprocate a comment in kind. So I just wanted to be honest and my contacts can make their decisions. This is disappointing for me as I wish there were more hours in the day.
The past month fungi have popped up everywhere around here. I have never seen this many and I think I photographed more fungi this month than in my entire life. So this colorful mushroom is the first of many to come.
I hope everyone enjoys this image! :D
