Having said that we will probably visit this beach in Florida at least once a year, to visit our grand daughter Adeline

Therefore cannot promise it will be the last, but the sky will be different

POSTING JUVENILE BIRDS FROM HOME

====================================

JUVENILE recalls the adult but note the red crown and subdued red vent colour. this one has been around for quite a while, so its not a very young one. But a real joy climbing tree trunks in the garden, excavates timber by drilling with its bill, does not like its photo being taken, on seeing me it will go to the far side of the tree. Has a undulating flight, loves the peanut feeders, but flys straight to them, and away the same, so a oppertunity like above, captured yesterday (Tues.) has to be taken.

====================================================

THANK YOU for your visit and comment, will look forward to seeing your lastest image and doing the same. being transported around the world with images, from you my extended family, brings me a lot of joy, God bless you all......

............................................Tomx.

I am off to France for a long weekend ...will not be posting any more images until next Tuesday. Will be excited to see all the things my friends have posted when I return.

In this scene from a nearby village there is a lot of activity near the post box but no letters being posted. The couple on the left in their country attire ..the shoppers on the right and the seated man checking his phone !!

This posting should surprise no one!! giggling

The Macro Mondays theme for 5/8 is broken and I’m so glad I keep resisting the urge to cast this aside- to refuse to throw this away!! It’s a bottle that I have photographed a gazillion times. Will post a size verification a bit later.

Sorry for not posting photos for a few days.

My RL work has become busy again.

I'm off today, so I want to take a lot of pictures 😊📷

Have a beautiful spring weekend to all 😉🌸

Re-posting a fave from last summer ;-)

I'm posting one from the archive. This is from a hike I did during the fall of last year to West Rattlesnake Mountain in New Hampshire. Quite possibly, the view is the most rewarding of any I know, especially considering how short it it is. It's a very popular mountain, and the parking lot fills up quickly.

I'm re-posting this one because I made subtle changes in the editing and I think I like it better now.

It seems to be a popular shot alot of people had requested to buy a copie.

So I'm looking into framing it on Canvas and adding it to my collection for my craft shows at the end of the year!.

Unfortunately I can't edit out the print of the wood-board. Hens why it's in black and white the shot. The long stripe and print are in bright red and black. Which ruins the shot! Too much distraction I think...

Anyway I hope you you don't mind seeing the shot a second time... Hope you like it! :)

POSTING JUVENILE BIRDS FROM HOME............

=======================================

A FAMILIAR SPECIES, in part because of its affinity for human habitation. Waiting to be fed, by its parents. The species predilection for nesting in roof spaces , holes in walls and dence hedges. they do take to nest boxes, but best to provide a group of them, as they prefere to nest in company of other sparrows.

=====================

THANK YOU for your visit and kind comments, will return to your lastest posting to do the same, which I enjoy very much.

Enjoy your day, God bless.......................................Tom.

Bicycles

Although I don’t ride a bike, well not at least for 40 odd years, there is something satisfying about a bike. It’s solid, reliable (mainly), an art form, it has a place in our society, an environmental champion, a pleasure and a serious competitor.

There aren’t many things in life that fulfil those criteria, there will always be those detractors but for me the bike is a hero.

More postings in this series to follow ………..

sorry for posting another butterfly today ;-) I promise the next one is with a rising sun, some fog and possible a windmill...

It's very bad weather today but i decided this afternoon to go for a little walk and see how nature is booming in my area.

Thanks everyone for visiting my stream.

Posting one from the archive, just to remind us of the rich variety of autumn colors. This one captured at Great Brook Farms in Carlisle.

I usually follow the seasons more or less when I post, but what's a rule without exceptions? ;)

It is hard to stop posting flowers even when fall and winter are present. I guess there is not need to spot since many of us love them.

This one is a favorite of mine. Practically it doesn't need any type of care at all, even can flower during mild winters. They are edible usually in salads, sandwiches and soups, and used in homeopathy medicine.

Did you know that the Romans legions used their juice to treat their injuries?t I didn't. Lots of interesting stories about this humble and yet very useful flower:

Another fun fact, it has been use as a part of a game too ;)

Photography is one of my passions, and nature photography is my favorite.

I have been in Explore for more that a hundred times, and it is an awesome experience to have your photos showcased in such a special way.

I thank your for coming today, for leaving a comment, and make a favorite of yours this photo, (if that is the case) thanks again!

The best part of this forum is the contacts and friends that I have made over the years, that have the same passion for this art that is called photography!

After posting lots of bleak, snowy landscapes lately, I thought I'd post something from high summer. This was taken in a Derbyshire meadow in July, looking towards Bamford Edge.

POSTING JUVENILE BIRDS FROM HOME

==================================

A FAMILIAR and unmistakable black and white, long tailed bird, the Juvenile has more black plumage, with the head feathers still to mature. at close range a bluish-green sheen can be seen on the wings and tail. A opporttunistic omnivore, its diet includes fruit from our fig tree, insects, animal road kills and the eggs and young of birds, it will also happily scavenge discarded leftover foods scraps. Widespread resident all year round.

I am posting this as a Friday Fence image but I am mindful of the special day today. So, instead of a "hearty" creation I am giving you a dream of a horse carriage ride with the one you love. Enjoy and have a very Happy Valentine's Day!

I took this shot on my walk back down to the car after watching the sunrise up on Yew Crag. The views down the Southern end of Ullswater are just wonderful all the way down this path. The sun was up and catching the fence posts, with the diagonal of the path leading my eye back down towards Glenridding and Patterdale.

Couldn't resist stopping and taking yet another shot of this Lakeland Winter scene.

Posting this Reddish Egret launching across Saint Charles Bay reminds me that I left another one in the midst of an attack on Bolivar. Next up, the rest of that story.

Posting mainly for documentation since this is a rare sighting for me.

photo dédicacée pour Flo74 :-)

I'll have to keep posting photos from the archives for some time as I'm currently busy packing all my things and moving to another apartment. Looking forward to getting this over with...

I'm posting this image to my Flickr gallery with a story... It was taken by my daughter. Its one of her first images. She is on the autism spectrum and has always struggled to express herself in ways that other people can relate to. This image she made fills me with a whole wave of emotion. I took her with me for a walk at a park one day and gave her a point and shoot camera to use since I was carrying mine. It was completely un-coached, just a girl on a walk with her dad at a large park in Seattle. Shortly after that we moved and I packed the camera away. Just the other day I found it in a box, the SD card still in it... So I downloaded them. The images she brought home are so expressive and amazing it takes my breath away. I'm just sharing this one image because it gives me hope. And, I hope it speaks to you as well. You are not alone. God bless.

When I was posting this I asked my pup if she knew what it was a photo of. Being very clever, and able to count, but not a great speller, she replied woof woof ;)

Have a great week everyone!

I figured I would get a jump on things and start posting images from Art Basel. Everyone's a photographer these days there were a million Peter Parkers running around snap anything and everything at Art Basel or should I say Miami Flickr Jam 2010. I'll post the connector with both Rath and Preys pieces later today.

More to come: Special thanks goes out to Rath, Preys, Pro, Remote, Typeo, Books, Bombing Science, Molotow and to all our friends for the constant support.

I'm posting one from the archive, a few years ago actually. I remember this day was quite extraordinary because of the menacing clouds. The beach is Cahoon Hollow beach on Cape Cod, which I'm partial to and always revisiting.

Today it looks like we got some snow! I'm anticipating some winter photos (finally).

Prior posting was 'whimsy'. This is more 'magical'. Both fun.

Posting some old Morocco stuff until new adventures arise.

I love Morocco. It's beautiful, the Moroccans are super friendly, it's (south of the High Atlas) quiet and the roads are the best on earth. I love their mountains. I love their deserts. I love their sand. I love their oasis. I love the climate.

Slightly more grown-up than the previous posting.

Posting this image next, without the people, was a no-brainer. It's hard to believe that a large crowd of people was stood to my immediate right hand side. Wearing a pair of surf slippers, I was able to stand that bit further forward from the crowd. My main challenge was keeping my kit safe from the rushing swash.

posting pictures from my recent trip back to California

These two postings are from the archives, but I couldn't think of a better way of sending out the old year, bringing in the new, except with a beautiful sunset. I just love sunsets....and particularly those that are over a body of water! How beautiful is that?! I hope you've had a wonderful year....and the new year is filled with an abundance of blessings!

Hard to believe this was actually 10 years ago! My how time flies! Hope you all enjoy!

Every now and then you see an image on Flickr that really impresses you. Just recently I saw two on Andy Gant's stream of two different boats. This is not my attempt to copy them, because they are unique, but to praise them. Very well done, I like what you do.

Also this is the last image that I will be posting to Flickr for at least two weeks. I have accumulated many books again and will be putting them on EBay. Book collecting is a great passion of mine but I only have enough space....Thanks to all that look at my stuff, to comment and to fav. Best regards Patrick

I started posting photos from Faroe Islands before my little sojourn on the east coast and I shall resume with that theme now that I am back.

This is a long exposure taken from the top of Klakkur mountain near Klaksvik. Conditions were very much on the moody side. Light was just hinting at bursting through. Standing at the top of the ridge felt like I was reaching out for it but it just faded away. However, the view and atmosphere were well worth the steep climb over muddy and slippery terrain.

"Sometimes you just get lucky" could not have been more true yesterday (10/12/22) when a friend and I visited Dry Falls outside Highlands, NC. All the way there from Brevard on US 64 the colors were absolutely stunning. Like many have said this year, it just seems like colors are better this year. But the timing of colors seems early and not like previous years. Many places getting colors all at the same time. Hard to get everywhere.

We got a late start and got to Dry Falls around 3pm. Conditions were really perfect - little to no wind, heavy overcast with some fog, had rained earlier in the day so colors were really saturated - really amazing. The crowd wasn't too bad either. While we were there for nearly two hours, probably half of it was spent waiting for people to move out of my shots. I didn't want to risk missing these conditions by relying on Photoshop to erase people. I took many different compositions to try to capture this beauty from all angles. I'll be posting them later.

Don't wait long to go. Leaves were really dropping and they won't last long.

Thanks for viewing my photos. Comments are always welcome.
