These "posting boxes" are still in use and were most likely introduced during the British occupation of Eritrea (1941-1952)

I am posting four images from the Music Garden on Queen's Quay.

From the Toronto Music Garden Website:

Inspired by Bach

Inspired by the pictorial element in Johann Sebastian Bach’s Suites for Unaccompanied Cello, internationally renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma collaborated with a number of artists to produce Inspired by Bach – a six part film series. The series was produced by Rhombus Media Incorporated and broadcasted in 1997 and 1998.

For the first film in the series, The Music Garden, Mr. Ma worked with landscape designer Julie Moir Messervy to interpret in nature the music of Bach’s first suite. As a result of the film project, Yo-Yo Ma, Julie Messervy and Rhombus Media Incorporated approached the city of Boston, Massachusetts to create an actual garden based on The Music Garden. When the Boston site fell through, Toronto enthusiastically embraced the project.

The Design

Julie Messervy designed the waterfront Music Garden in collaboration with landscape architects from the city’s Parks, Forestry and Recreation Department. The garden design interprets in nature Bach’s First Suite for Unaccompanied Cello, with each dance movement within the suite corresponding to a different section in the garden. Two Canadian artists created special features for the Music Garden. Tom Tollefson, architectural blacksmith, fabricated the Music Pavilion, and the late Anne Roberts of Feir Mill Desin Inc., designed the Maypole.

Other pictures I have taken in the Music Garden.

Random postings of photos I have taken over the last few years. Explore the photo set to find other work by the artist or of the same theme or event.

I was very reluctant to post this photograph, my wife was looking through the photographs in the camera, and ask why didn’t I post this particularly photo, I told her it was very disturbing due to the mans injury, she informed me she saw the man in many different locations playing and begging for money and I should post the photograph.

Budding plants.

Too windy and dull today!

Posting an older pic.....one of the many tunnels under the Smithsonian.

Skylark near Guardbridge, Fife, Scotland

So in every city in Morocco they post these blocks- each represents a party symbol (painted on) and the corresponding number to vote for, used to combat the illiteracy but still allow everyone to vote. The elections were in April so I imagine it's just a matter of time until these are taken down.

#TP140 (Take a photograph that contains something that was in a previous photograph from 8 days ago )

My husband knows how to cook only one speciality....popcorn. He pops it in an old popper that has a long handle and sits on a stand. He has it down to a science, filling three large plastic bowls, then filling bags and delivering them to friends. Today he popped some for my friend who was coming over to visit for the first time since her cancer has returned.

#288 Today's posting (Make a photograph that illustrates an aspect of communication)

Posting a few old photos of Pier 54 in NYC. This was at various points the Cunard pier and the White Star pier, where the Titanic would've docked upon her arrival in New York. You can still see the lettering on the arch in various layers of paint.

Posting and running just one more day ... sorrrrrry!
