I wanted to send this photo to my mom to show my new place, but I
realized that I'd get in trouble for keeping my shoes out in the
hallway.
First time posting here. In the moment, taking my daily photo. From the couch looking out to our deck. I love that it documents our tiny tree and apartment living which is totally new to us.
Mailing a coconut to California from the Post-Nut facility at the Ho’olehua post office on the island of Moloka’i. You draw and address directly into the coconut and the postal worker affixes the stamps on the other side. It’s a deal, and it is a big source of income for an otherwise small post office serving many of the Native Hawaiian homesteads.
Variously known as the Owl, Angel, or ET cluster, NGC457 is a striking object visually and photographically. Taken with an Orion 80mm f/7.5 ED doublet. Cropped to about 80% of the full image to avoid the tiny emount of field curvature present in this fine instrument. Losmandy G11 mount with OnStep system, StarShooter Pro V1 single shot color with wide band imaging filter from 2009. Twenty-five minutes total exposure time.
Posting a design in the form of a reel, story, or simple post requires adapting it to various sizes. WDD's 'Adaptive Design' technique uses different layouts that adjust according to the platforms where design content is being viewed, thereby saving the time wasted in unnecessary resizing. Thinking of creating kick-ass designs for your clients? Outsource the design content creation service by choosing an experienced advertising agency like WDD.
Hosted by ALDE Member Martina Dlabajová, EMPL rapporteur for the Posting of Drivers proposal
In the light of the ongoing review of the posting of workers directive and the forthcoming discussions of the Commission proposal on Mobility package, this event will discuss the posting of drivers and its implications on free movement of services and the protection of workers. The event will give an opportunity to debate in depth the ways in which the Posting of Workers Directive will be applicable to drivers and discuss whether the proposal of the Commission is proportionate and effective in achieving its goals.

Posting a few more shots from our recent outing. When one takes over a thousand images, posting one or two feels inadequate. LOL
I continue to work on posting Flickr album summaries of some of my earlier salt pond sessions. This album contains images from September 24, 2011. The day began with a hike out to the Weep, a small section of a drainage ditch that microbiologist Wayne Lanier and I had been studying. After taking a few photographs there I took a slow walk along the railroad line back to the Alviso Flat. Along the way, I took small side trips to the west along the levees that separated Salt Ponds A13 from A15 and A12 from A13.
This was a lovely day for photographs. Low stratus clouds allowed decent light for much of the walk. The wind was vigorous and kept the Sutton 16 near the high end of its wind range. In some of the A13 / A5 levee shots, you can see streams of blowing dust real-time evidence of levee erosion. Various salt ponds I encountered offered different visual characters. A15 was near Bay water and was frothy due to the stiff breeze. A15 sported a dense, turbid, mustard-like yellow-green and had curious patterns of wind ripple. A12 presented a bit of exposed pond bottom and the graphic traces of old marsh channels. The walk also afforded views of A16, New Chicago Marsh, and the Alviso Flat.
I am taking these documentary photographs under a Special Use Permit from the Don Edwards National Wildlife Refuge. Kite flying is prohibited over the Don Edwards National Wildlife Refuge without a Special Use Permit.

After posting the pic of the yellow balloon yesterday & getting responses that I ought to dispose of it for the sake of the environment & wildlife, I ventured out into the cold, seeking the wayward balloon. Since it had only traveled the short distance from my neighbor's flowerbed to mine in the previous day or two, I was surprised to discover that it was not in sight. I supposed that, perhaps, a member of our maintenance staff had picked it up. Nonetheless, I walked around a bit to make sure. Imagine my surprise when, on a windless day, I found the balloon around a corner in the building, nestled beneath the National Grid gauges, seemingly hiding! Good for the environment & local wildlife/bad for the balloon, I plucked it out, deflated it, & safely disposed of it. We'd had a short, but fun relationship! Thanks, yellow balloon!

I feel like you may be wondering about this drawing. Remember when I said over a month ago that something had happened and it was awful? Well, this drawing was done right at that time. It was an icky deal then and we still have stress over the ongoing trauma but things are getting better. At any rate, without disclosing the nature of the problem, this drawing is about some of the feelings we have experienced. I do like the drawing, I hadn't looked at it for a month or so and now when I do I really like it.
(Actually the problem was not nearly so serious and shouldn't have caused nearly so much stress, it was the way it was handled that caused the stress and shame to us.)
Today my deep water class at the Y had a luncheon at the instructors home. It was so nice to have time to visit a bit and get to know some of the women a little better. And it's such a beautiful spring day! Our valley is green and flowering and wonderful today. It's just in the 60's but when it's sunny and no wind the temp seems just perfect to me!
Still thinking about the simplification process these days. I've made a wee bit of progress but the more I think about it the more I realize that it's not going to be easy to render life down to the basics and learn to be content with that. Our culture is such a do more, have more culture that simplifying will go against the tide. Still, I am feeling like it is absolutely necessary for my mental and emotional health. So far I've gotten our bills set up to pay on-line and I've been reigning myself in to be home more. I think the biggest thing so far has been a shift in attitude and the decision to make changes. It's wonderful that Paul is right on the same page with me in agreeing that this is necessary.
