U.S. Army Spc. Positioned along track to Church Farm, this FW3/28 Type 28 anti-tank gun house is sited facing north to defend the river crossing at Jude's Ferry Bridge. The gun emplacement was fitted with a pedestal and nine-bolt holdfast for a 6-pounder anti-tank gun.
The FW3/28 Type 28 is a rectangular shellproof gun house designed to house either a 2pdr or 6pdr Hotchkiss anti-tank gun. The smallest Type 28 gun house, is a single chamber design built to a shellproof standard, with external walls approximately 3ft 6in thick whilst the roof is 12in thick. Overall it approximately measures 20ft by 19ft and internally the chamber measures 13ft by 12ft. At the front of the Type 28 gun house is the low and wide embrasure for the 2pdr or 6pdr anti-tank gun. With the 2pdr gun in position the shield of the gun would have covered most of the embrasure, which measures 2ft 6in internally, stepping out to 3ft 2in by 11ft 6in on the outside, the maximum traverse of the 2pdr gun was limited to a 60° sweep.
Getting the 2pdr gun inside the gun house was through a rear opening of 6ft wide, which would be closed in with sandbags as there were no doors fitted. The large unobstructed entrance did allow the 2pdr gun to maintain it’s mobility, by allowing the gun to be moved in and out rapidly. Below the gun embrasure are three recesses in the floor, the 2pdr gun, would have been wheeled into position, then its wheels removed and the trail legs unfolded and located into the floor recesses. In cases were the Hotckiss quick fire anti-tank gun was used a pedestal with a nine bolt holdfast was added to mount the gun, in a more permanent position adding sandbags around the embrasure for added protection.
Normally each side wall has an infantry embrasure, to provide some limited protection from the enemy. However, the lack of all-round small arms fire meant that the gun house would be very vulnerable to enemy attack. The lack of forward-firing Infantry embrasures meant that it would not be possible to support the 2pdr gun with small arms fire. So to overcome the problem of the limited infantry fire support the FW3/28 gun house design was modified to produce the FW3/28a. This modification consisted of a second chamber being added to the anti-tank gun chamber, the second chamber was an infantry chamber with up to three infantry embrasures, firing to the front, rear and side. Generally, the gun houses were positioned to allow the gun to fire along fixed lines, such as enfiladingss an anti-tank ditch or a bridge. In these positions the limited traverse of the gun creates no real disadvantage and the small size of the embrasure provides greater protection for the gun and its crew.
Eastern Command: Corps and Command Stop Lines – One of three Eastern Command Corps stop lines, this one running from the River Colne in Essex via Wakes Colne and Bures, along the River Stour to Sudbury and Long Melford, and thence to Bury St. Edmunds and the River Lark at Mildenhall. Its final stretch (known now as the Command Line) was via Littleport along the line of the River Great Ouse to King's Lynn.

The Support Races Featured During the Day were also Full of Different Makes and Models of Ford Racing Cars From The Focus RS to the Ford Escort and the Iconic Sierra Cosworth and even the Iconic Enduro KA series was Present and with Drivers and Spectators Ready the Racing was about to begin.

First up Champion of Brands and with Fast and High Speed Action from Thease Machines Lets See who took that all important People Position to Start the Race in P1.
In First Place was (Tom Mills) in his Spectrum KMR with a Best Lap Time of 50.154 and a Top Speed of 86.70mph. Amazing work there Tom a truly Heroic and Brave Drive for Pole Position.
In Second Place was (Niall Murray) in his Van Diemen BD21 with a Best Lap Time of 50.397 and a Top Speed of 86.28mph. Fantastic Work Niall Very Fast and Quick Driving.
In Third Place was (Colin Queen) in his Ray GR18 with a Best Lap Time of 50.399 and a Top Speed of 86.28mph. Another Incredible Driver in Colin Pushing Hard and Almost Taking Second Place from Niall. I think we are in for some Really Intense Racing but who will be Fast Enough to on Track to Take Victory?

After a Thrilling Battle that saw Tom Mills take Pole Position its time to find out who Won the Race and out of The Top Three Could Anyone else on the Grid Challenge them for a Spot on the Podium. Lets Find Out.
In First Place and taking the Win was (Niall Murray) in his Van Diemen BD21 with a Lap Time of 50.518 and an Average Speed of 77.40mph. Incredible work there Niall Beating back Tom to take Victory in the First Race and a Well Determined Drive to Secure it.
In Second Place was (Tom Mills) in his Spectrum KMR with a Lap Time of 50.706 and an Average Speed of 77.38mph. Amazing Drive there Tom Keeping up with Niall and a Fantastic Battle thought the entire Race too.
In Third Place was (Colin Queen) in his RAY GR18 with a Lap Time of 50.820 and an Average Speed of 77.32mph. A Great Victory for Third Place on the Podium Colin showing a Determined Drive and a lot of Bravery thought the Race.

Race 2 Up Next and The Final Time for Anyone Racing in Champion of Brands to Score Points and Take Victory in either First Second or Third Place. After a Thrilling End to Race 1 which Saw Tom Mills getting Beaten by Niall Murray it was time to see who could Once Again bring the Roar and Thunder Home for a Final Time.
In First Place was (Niall Murray) in his Van Diemen BD21 with a Lap Time of 50.584 and an Average Speed of 84.84mph. Another Incredible Drive from Niall to once again take The Final Pole Position for Champion of Brands. Brilliant Drive there Niall.
In Second Place was (Tom Mills) in his Spectrum KMR with a Lap Time of 50.606 and an Average Speed of 84.47mph. Another Well Deserved Second Place for Tom Showing Incredible Car Control and Bravery Pushing the Limits on Every Corner to Keep up with Niall. Fantastic Drive Tom.
In Third Place was (Lucan Romenek) in his Van Diemen JL13 with a Lap Time of 50.927 and an Average Speed of 83.92mph. Very Well Done there Lucan Fantastic to see a New Driver take a Step onto the Podium and Celebrate the Victory.

Clubman Sports Prototype Championship (Qualifying)
Clubman Sports Prototypes were up next and thease Mad Looking Machines are known for their Supreme Aerodynamics as well as Insane Straight Line Speed. each Driver will have to be on the ball and Keeping their Machine under Constant Control as they will be Powering round this 1,2 mile Indy Circuit at Speeds of at Least 90mph.

MSVR Elise Trophy (Qualifying)
Next Up is the MSR Elise Trophy
with the Focus of this Race being on the Lotus Elise S1 S2 and S3 with Just One Qualifying Session and Just 1 Race This will be A Test of Will Power and Determination on the Track to see who can Take Victory.
First Lets look to Qualifying and See who will be Starting on the Front Row.
In First Place taking the Pole and Fastest Lap was (Maurizio Sciglio) in his Lotus Elise S2 with a Best Lap Time of 53.544 and a Top Speed of 81.21mph. Fantastic work there Maurizio to take P1 and start o the Front Row of the Grid.
In Second Place was (Jason Mcinulty) in his Lotus Elise S3 with a Best Lap Time of 53.914 and a Top Speed of 80.65mph. Very Well Done there Jason Putting in one Hell of a Quick Time to Gain P2 on the Grid.
In Third Place was (Simon Walsh) in his Lotus Elise S2 111R with a Best Lap Time of 54.076 and a Top Speed of 80.41mph. Incredible Drive from Simon to put Himself in P3.
With Three Very Quick Drivers in Maurizio Jason and Simon it was Time to see if Anyone Could challenge them and Win the Only Race of the Day for the Lotus Elise Trophy.
MSVR Elise Trophy (Race 1)
In First Place taking The Victory was (Jason Mcinulty) in his Lotus Elise S3 with a Lap Time of 54.638 and an Average Speed of 66.83mph. Fantastic Victory for Jason taking P1 and The Race Win for the Elise Trophy. Phenomenal Driving too.
In Second Place was (John Lamaster) in his Lotus Elise S2 135R with a Lap Time of 54.781 and an Average Speed of 66.75mph. Fantastic work John and So Great to see a New Face on the Podium Taking P2 what an Incredible Driver.
In Third Place was (David Alexander) in his Lotus Elise S1 with a Lap Time of 55.589 and an Average Speed of 66.62mph. Very Well Driven Dave Keeping an Eye out all over the Place and Bringing Home a Superb P3 Finish.

Modified Ford Series (Qualifying Group A)
Now it was Time to head Back to the Blue Badged Ford Machines Once again as the Modified Ford Series Rolled out onto the Race Track with each car being Heavily Modified from their Road Counterparts. With Escort Cosworth's and RS200's Roaring and Ready to go it was Time to see what the First Group A set of Drivers could do in Qualifying.
Due to how large the Grids were and the Fact that both Group A and Group B Have Different Races I will only be putting up results from both Qualifying Sessions from Group A and Group B. I will Leave a Link Below each Qualifying Session so you can Get All the Race Result's and Action from the 4 Different Races.
Modified Ford Series (Qualifying Group A)
In First Place Taking Pole Position and the Fastest Lap was (David Cockell) in his Ford Escort Cosworth with a Best Lap Time of 49.872 and a Top Speed of 87.19mph. Very Well Done David Keeping that Escort on the Track Must Have Taken some Practice no Doubt Amazing work on Getting Pole.
In Second Place was (Wayne Crabtree) in his Ford RS200 with a Best Lap Time of 51.121 and a Top Speed of 85.06mph. Very Fast Drive from Wayne to take P2 and a Very Solid Drive Thought.
In Third Place was (Michael Saunders) in his Ford Escort MK1 Mexico with a Best Lap Time of 51.129 and an Average Speed of 85.05mph. Very Well Driven by Michael Being Able to Keep up with Both Wayne and David Must Have Ben a Real Pain but what a Fantastic Achievement.

In First Place Taking Pole Position and The Fastest Lap was (Neil Jessop) in his Ford Escort MK2 with a Best Lap Time of 52.030 and a Top Speed of 83.57mph. Fantastic Work there Neil and a Really Quick Escort to match too. Very Well Done.
In Second Place was (James Harris) in his Ford Escort MK2 with a Best Lap Time of 53.928 and a Top Speed of 80.63mph. Amazing work there James Pushing Hard and Giving the Old Girl everything she has to offer.
In Third Place was (Malcom Harding) in his Ford Escort MK1 with a Best Lap Time of 54.892 and a Top Speed of 79.22mph. Awesome Drive there from Malcom Overcoming a lot of Pressure to put in an Incredible Lap for P3.

Enduro KA (Qualifying)
The Final Qualifying Session of the Day Had Come and its the Enduro KA'S. with all of the Cars on the Grid being Models of the Popular Ford KA made Between 1998-2009 thease Cars were Fun City cars that could get you from A to B with Ease. They were Also Build on a tight budget meaning that Handling Performance and Comfort were a Big Selling point of thease Brilliant little cars.
The Racing Versions seen here in the pictures however are built for Racing. they use different tyres but still the same Legendary 1.3 Dura Tec Engine found in their Road Going Counterparts.
Lets Take a look at Qualifying and see which KA and Driver made it to the top step of the podium.

In Second Place was (Fat Boys Racing Matt Pinny) with a Lap Time of 1:03.584 and an Average Speed of 67.51mph. Well Done there Matt Improving up to P2 and Taking Home a Well Deserved Finish in the Standings for Race 3.
In Third Place was (Alex Reade Motorsport's Luke Reade and Chris Reade) with a Lap Time of 1:03.606 and an Average Speed of 67.44mph. Very Good Come Back Drive for Both Luke and Ale to Finish Third Great Driving.
Many Twists and Turns Have Benn brought into Race 3 with the Top Three Drivers now being Shuffled Around the Gird into different Positions. With One More Race to Go who will be The Last Driver of the Day on the Top Step of the Podium.

In First Place was (Octane Junkies Adam Smith and Martyn Smith) with a Lap Time of 1:03.442 and an Average Speed of 67.82mph. An Amazing Final Win for the Day to Octane Junkies Adam and Martyn Smith Congratulations and Very Well Driven.
In Second Place was (Piston Heads Peter Dignan) with a Lap Time of 1:03.781 and an Average Speed of 67.54mph. Incredible work there Peter Getting P2 and Standing on the Podium and Incredible Achievement.
In Third Place was (IP Racing Oliver Wilmot and Scott Parkin) with a Lap Time of 1:03.710 and an Average Speed of 67.47mph. Very Well Done to both Scott and Oliver on that Fantastic P3 Achievement. Something Very Special to Remember for both of you.

A horse became stranded in a horsebox which ended up in a precarious position after the bed of the recovery truck failed. The Hi-ab crane on the Heavy Rescue Unit was used to stabilise the horse box which was eventually brought down to road level so the horse could be unloaded and transferred to a second horse box.
This shot was taken outside my home. There was a lot of light from the various buildings / streetlights around me, so I opted to find a "dark corner" which was behind a tall bush against a house. This cut down on the light a lot; basically I positioned myself in a rudimentary "blind." Ambient Light is your enemy, but shots like above can be taken from just outside your front door, you just have to find the right "Dark Corner."
Last night was very good for shooting the moon. Dark skies, light wind and it was crisp. Meaning the temperature in upper levels and lower levels in the Atmosphere balanced each other out for the most part. The moon just "glowed" without wavering.
Translation: No Fog or Mist. It's when there's no wind, fog/mist forms and you loose detail; downside is that you need a sturdy tripod that doesn't shake when there is wind. In addition, photographing the moon when it's at 3/4 or 1/2 will give you better shadows and detail, for the same reasons that photographing people are better during the early morning / "Golden Hour" times. Full Moons, are like shooting people around Noon; while the area is nice and bright, the shadows and details are flat.
Also, before we begin, you have to "think" like you are shooting in the daytime since the Moon is so bright. If you want to get that "Spooky Clouds around the Sharp Moon" for Halloween, you will have to take TWO exposures and combine them. The Wispy / Spooky Clouds require a 15-30 second exposure, while the moon does not. ;) Take a look at this photo to see what a 30 Second Exposure Moon-Shot looks like with a single exposure.
What works for me:
I mounted my camera on my tripod, zoomed out to 300mm and shut off Vibration Reduction. I used "Single Area" Metering and set the focus point just above the moon and towards the right. (Think 1 o'clock-ish position.) The trick for the moon is to give the camera something to focus on, like the edge and then tweak it if necessary. After you have the moon in focus, set the camera to manual focus and leave it alone. (Man, I love having a dedicated switch for this.)
Just as I was about to take the photo, I set the camera to "Mirror Lock-Up Mode" and used a remote control that I got from a friend. When using the "Mirror Lock-Up" function, you click the remote shutter button ONCE and the the mirror in the viewfinder flips up. Then hit the remote shutter button a SECOND TIME to activate the shutter to take the photo. What this does is really eliminates any internal camera shake. Believe it or not, the mirror flipping up causes a bit of shake for the camera, so if razor sharpness is really paramount, use a tripod & Mup Mode if your camera has it. Not only for the Moon, but Macro shots as well.
Remember, the moon is always moving, so predict a future point of where it will be rather than where it is. Which is pretty easy, since the moon follows an "arc." Believe it or not, 20-30 seconds makes a huge difference in its position in the sky! This is why placing the AF point above and to the right helps. By the time you click the shutter, a part of the moon is usually in your center focus point in the viewfinder.
I tried using manual settings based on the "Sunny 16 Rule" with decent results and found keeping the shutter speed to above 1/250th helped. I've seen some photos of the moon with a much slower shutter speed and smaller aperture, but since my 70-300VR is hungry for light, I tend to stay between 1/250 - 1/500 of a second. Also, the D200 really sucks above ISO 800, and is very decent at ISO 400. ISO 560 and above was just too noisy for this particular shot.
After firing off multiple shots in manual mode, I got an idea of where I should be. Since the D200's meter is more robust than my D40's, I went with Aperture Priority Mode and set it to f/5.6. The camera chose 1/320th of a second and I clicked the remote button twice, the first one to lift the mirror, and the second one to activate the sensor. After I take the picture, I zoom in to 100% to check the sharpness. You usually can tell if you nail it. If not, rinse and repeat or try different shutter speeds, faster is better.
In post processing, each moon shot can be different, even back-to-back shots! This is one of the reasons that shooting in RAW is important for Astrophotography. Every bit of detail helps in post. In addition, you really can't use a Lightroom Preset or even a Photoshop Action, but this is my experience. Your mileage may vary. I played around with the levels and curves, until it looked right.

You will want to ensure that the pen can be moved from the page by the pen lifter - but can also touch the page when the pen lifter is down. Do some test drawings to find the best pen position.

Lots of comfy hand positions to choose from. Still miss my drop bars, though. May swap out for drop bars sooner rather than later. Plus, I really miss the friction shifting for the front derailluer I had with my Ultegra bar end shifters on my old Surly.
I know it's not as modern as indexing, but indexed front shifting is not fun to set up. In fact, my front derailleur skips over the middle chainring when downshifting off the big chainring. Despite hours trying to tweak this and following countless sets of instructions, tips, and suggestions online on how to eliminate this problem, I did not get it taken care. I think it might be an issue with the shifter rather than the derailleur. In any case, this would not be an issue at all with the friction front shifting of good bar end shifters.
I just gave up and make an extra shift back up to the middle chainring in those instances when I am trying to downshift to the middle chainring from the big chainring. Not too big a deal, though I may still have a bike shop take a look at and see if they can adjust it properly.

Three HMG positions are clustered around the east end of Mount Longdon. In the high mount they are likely to have been intended as light anti-aircraft defences against helicopters and low-flying jets, but they would also have been very capable against ground targets.
With the Trent SON RC7327 lined up with the Ford 7V, Guy LUF SARO demonstrator LJW336 was eased into position by former LUF owner John. Looking even more like a museum now - AMRTM.
Roundel positions. The two at the rear have their rounders in one of the 2 positions where these vehicles carried them. The M at the front has yet to have its rounded moved to the correct position.

The PPI (Plan Position Indicator) in this instance is only 7 inches (17.7cm) in diameter. This display is the commonest of all - used not only by radar, but also by air traffic control, ship navigation, meteorology, etc. As a power source the 1B used a magnetron oscillator. The range is about 200 miles (321 km); as the crow flies, possibly less, about 170 miles, if that! The other screen (only 5 inches in diameter) measured the A (azimuth?) reading. The frequency used was 1220 to 1350 mc.

This is a photograph from the 3rd running of the newly situated Irish 3/4 Marathon (formerly the Athlone 3/4) which was held in Longwood, Enfield, Co. Meath, Ireland on Sunday 7th of October 2018 at 10:00. The event is positioned perfectly in the calendar as a key training race before the Dublin City Marathon at the end of the month. Participants are advised to use this long distance race as a preparation for the Dublin City Marathon and to pace themselves accordingly. This year was the third year that the event was held in Longwood, Co. Meath which is now well known for its hosting of the Longwood 10KM/5KM annual races and a host venue for East of Ireland Marathon series marathons several times per year. The race started and finished at Longwood GAA club just outside the village of Longwood. It followed an anti-clockwise course around the beautiful picturesque countryside of south Meath. The course went through the townlands of Longwood, Castlerickard, Killyon, Hill-of-Down, Anneville and Ashfield Clonard, Blackshade, Stoneyford and back to Longwood. The locally famous Blackshade bridge at 17 miles provided the largest climb of the day. The river Boyne and Blackwater were crossed as was the Royal Canal and the Dublin-Sligo Railway line at Hill-of-Down. The overall elevation of the course works out at 3/4 of the total elevation of the Dublin Marathon course. The south Meath countryside around the course looked on a beautiful with some lovely quiet traditional 'Irish'-type roads to run on. There was a large local effort with stewarding and many local people watched from their gardens as the race passed by. The organisation of the race was first class with every detail taken care of from the start until the finish. As usual the weather is the only variable that cannot be controlled. Subsequently, the only negative from a runners' view was the very very strong headwind from the turn at 6 miles right through Killyon and Hill-of-Down. However, other parts of the course offered a strong tailwind and flat terrain.

The position has been constructed against a rocky crag using local rock to build a wall front and sides, and steel rails that are likely to have come from the narrow gauge railway between Camber Point fuel depot and Moody Brook radio station.
Corrugated iron sheet nearby suggests this was also used to weatherproof the shelter.
I have called this a command post because of the large size and both the effort and materials that have been used to construct it. It could also have served as an observation post due to the commanding views over the ground to its front.
