For Macro Mondays - Broken
I was in the garden looking for insects this morning, trying to think of something in the shed or the 'third drawer' in the kitchen that might be broken. While trying to get a better position to take a shot of a fly I backed into and broke this small (6 mm diameter) branch on the Pittosporum tree.
Happy Macro Monday!
The enigmatic and very present Puma, Viktoria... loving that position she held.. Photographed with awe at the Big Cat Sanctuary, Kent

The sun was positioned low, beyond the horizon in this Pitt River, winter scene.
To the right you can see a couple operating a drone,
If you zoom in, you may see the two illuminated red lights of the drone as it hovers slightly to the right, just above their heads..
The light captured and illuminated the cabin enclosure on the aluminum river boat, seen moored at a dock.
There is silhouette of a river barge also on the right.

Ballerinas have nothing on this bird! I can watch these Common yellow Leg Sandpipers for hours. I love their slender legs and long necks as they stride purposely in the low tide.
I think they look like dancers ... acrobatic and swift. When flying they extend their legs beyond their tails - gorgeous.
I think this is the 5th position, anyone??
Hoping all is well.

Position: Desert Grande Islands. The Desertas are islands of the Madeira archipelago southeast of the island of Madeira, Atlantic Ocean. They were named after the discoverer of Madeira, João Gonçalves Zarco, during a voyage of discovery in 1419.
An interesting position this Bald Eagle takes in the air as if a bit curious about what it sees below, i.e. trying to decide what it's going to do next.

Happy Caturday~ Looking on the Bright Side
When a cat is playing or frightened, they try to make themself look as big as possible. A stiff-legged hopping gait often accompanies this puffing out of their fur.
Jerri often assumes this pose when playing with Oscar, much to our amusement and delight!
Another photo I took positioned along the banks of the Bow River in Banff National Park, facing the unmistakable, fortress-like silhouette of Castle Mountain. This shot captures the peak in its full, rugged glory—a massive block of Paleozoic limestone and shale that dominates the skyline between Banff and Lake Louise.
I used a low-angle perspective to turn the river’s rocky bed into a dramatic foreground that leads the eye toward the "battlements" of the mountain. The soft, golden light of Golden Hour casts a warm glow on the rock face while deep reflections shimmer in the still pockets of water.
Castle Mountain is a classic example of a "layer-cake" peak, showcasing distinct horizontal strata formed hundreds of millions of years ago. For a brief period (1946–1979), it was renamed Mount Eisenhower, but local reverence for its original, descriptive name eventually won out.
This image encapsulates the silent, ancient energy of the Canadian Rockies—where the steady flow of the Bow River meets the unmoving giants of the sky.
Hi everyone, I'm disabled and have been without a source of income for over a year so if you are in a position to help, I have setup an account to accept donations, even as little as the price of a coffee. Anything would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, I was not able to see this guy pupate. It happened in the wee hours of the morning when I was still snug in my bed. However, there is a beautiful Chrysalis hanging from this leaf now. I’ll post that picture tomorrow. Good luck on your transformation Monarch!
I do have (o)possums in my back yard, but rarely do I see them, and then it's usually just walking the fence at the crack of dawn or before. Not this dark rainy day though - this one was hanging out in this low tree on the neighbor's side of the fence. It was really patient with me, allowed me a couple different positions, a quick break to get a short stool, just too much fun. There was actually another one more shy that climbed into my juniper and disappeared. I'm guessing they're both on the young side and haven't completely learned the art or need of the quick disappearance. Check it "large" for a good look at those footsies.
Positioned around a mile and a half from where we were staying, Tarn Hows is a picturesque Tarn which is visited by over half a million visitors who walk around it.
Our visit this time was an eye opener. As we approached, Marc became terrified. Only a couple of years ago, I pushed Marc around this tarn in his wheelchair and we enjoyed the nature of the landscape. It was quite a push in his manual wheelchair - though it is advertised as accessible, in truth, motorised scooters or wheelchair are needed.
As we approached and reached this point, there is a sharp downhill stretch of road bending around a hidden curve. Marc's grip on the seat at the side of me tightened and his knuckles turned white. "stop, stop, stop" he screamed!
I pulled over, but he did not relax. I managed a quick photo out of the car window, but headed back the way we came, with the terror left behind.
What triggered this reaction to somewhere we had been previously remains unknown. I know his condition is worsening and maybe it was the journey making him travel sick, maybe his poor eyesight is affecting him in a greater way, maybe he was having a seizure, and absence, right at that moment which sent him into a panic, maybe ...
sometimes we never find out the cause of a reaction like this, but we have a photograph, and as we look back at it now, he can laugh at his memory of my stopping the car and turning around.
From here, we went back to the village, and had some Grasmere Gingerbread. After a calmer wheel-walk around the village. Calm returned.
Have a lovely day everyone :-))
I said I wouldn’t so any posts until Sunday, but here’s one I prepared earlier!! Lots of lovely new stuff for you to enjoy. Go get shopping.
