President Volodymyr Zelensky met with the Chair of the NATO Military Committee, Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, who made his first foreign visit in this position specifically to Ukraine.

“We are grateful to NATO for its support of Ukraine from the very beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion. Thank you very much for your first mission and decision to be in Ukraine. Thank you very much. This is a very strong signal for us from NATO and professionals,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

The main topics of the meeting were preparations for the next meeting in the Ramstein format and our state's defense needs. The President noted that one of Ukraine's top priorities was the implementation of the agreements reached at the NATO Summit in Washington on strengthening Ukraine’s air defense. The Russian dictator does not want the war to end, and only Ukraine's strong position and pressure on Russia can force the aggressor state to establish a just and lasting peace.

Special attention was paid to the operational launch of the NSATU mission “Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine.” According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukraine is counting on concrete results of its work, in particular, on strengthening coordination in military assistance.

The Chair of the NATO Military Committee assured that the North Atlantic Alliance is ready to fulfill all its commitments, as it considers Ukraine an integral part of the transatlantic defense architecture.

“The message I would like to convey not only to you, but to everyone, is that NATO is on your side. We are determined to fulfill all our commitments and to defend all the values and principles that we share,” he added.

In addition, Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Giuseppe Cavo Dragone discussed the continued military assistance from NATO member states and direct investment in the domestic production of long-range drones based on the Danish model. At one of the defense industry enterprises, they got acquainted with the production capacities and characteristics of Ukrainian long-range weapons and spoke with the people working there.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked the employees for their service to the state and for their work, which every day brings tangible results and strengthens our army with domestically produced weapons; he also presented them with state awards.

“Thank you for your work. It's very gratifying to see that we have something to show, and it's not theoretical – it’s your tangible result. A real result that helps us and is feared by the Russians, the enemies of our state. It’s a great pleasure to be here with our NATO colleagues. It's truly rewarding when they see the high level of achievement Ukraine has reached during this war. The level of domestic production during wartime is exceptionally high,” the President said.

Positioning the outriggers over the outrigger base mat

These two Ten-Tec Orions make up the 10 meter position. Each rig has an Alpha amplifier. During our CW contest, John, K4BAI, was the predominant operator in this position. It was a terrific, high pleasure and honor for me to get to meet John, finally, after having worked him in contests over many years.

Seems I never uploaded photos I took when Melissa and I went to the Virginia Signal Meet in 2019. These are on the NS Shenandoah Line which I hear are slowly being replaced now. This is Arcadia Control Points taken on 4/28/2019.

The position seen here is called ROK Ready. The Republic of Korea (ROK) Military Police solders serving in this special unit of the JSA are a unique bunch being required to be of above average Korean height, possess at least 1 black belt in Taekuondo.

Donna the WWII Stuart M-5 tank sits in her position at the back of the Memorial Park lot, next to an alley and looking out towards North First St in DeKalb IL.

Donna the tank at Memorial Park at the northeast corner of Lincoln Hwy and First St in DeKalb, Illinois. The tank is a Stuart M5 Light Tank. It is my understanding that this particular tank never saw any actual combat service during WW II. However it might be more accurate to say that, it is not known if this tank saw any service during WWII. Apparently Donna's previous history before her arrival in DeKalb was lost or never given.

Donna arrived in DeKalb in Jan 1949 and was soon placed and dedicated in a prominent location in downtown DeKalb at the corner of Lincoln Hwy and Fourth St, and also near the Chicago & North Western railroad tracks. I recall seeing her there many times as a boy when we visited our DeKalb relatives and I can tell you she made quite an impression in that location.

Before Donna, a captured German WW I cannon and a large honor roll sign sat in the same location but when WW II came along, the cannon was donated as scrap for the war effort. Nobody seems to know what happened to the honor roll sign.

The original location turned out to be problematic for Donna over the years. On August 4, 1961, a train derailment bumped Donna off her cement pad. A few train cars were strewn about the street but Donna was largely unscathed. When I learned this a year ago or so I was fascinated.

In latter years, when the local military officials held their annual service at the location near the busy intersection and railroad tracks, they were frustrated with the train horn and bells and they claimed it was difficult to safely conduct these events, hence Donna was moved here to Memorial Park on May 18, 2002.

I understand their reasoning but I can tell you that for many of us who remember her in the original location, its obviously not the same. You couldnt miss her at 4th & Lincoln but today she has been delegated to the back of a lot where she's seen mostly by those who already know shes there.

Information from the Joiner History Room in Sycamore IL: "Donna came from the Watervliet Arsenal in Watervliet, New York in January of 1949. There is no mention of her name in the news coverage at the time she arrived or anything about her other than where she came from.

There is a 2002 DeKalb Chronicle article that says “Donna, which apparently got its name from the girlfriend of the tank commander who operated it early in WWII…” Donna was repainted in January of 1949 when she arrived."

Start with first position. First position is arguably the easiest basic ballet position. Stand with your feet together, ensuring your heels touch. Then, turn each leg outward so your feet are perpendicular to your torso. Keep your heels together, but allow your feet, calves, and thighs pivot until your feet form a straight line parallel with your shoulders. The end stance is first position.

- Your whole leg from your thigh to your feet be turned outward. The end result will turn your feet in a straight line on the floor, with your heels in the middle.

- First position for the arms looks like you’re holding a beach ball in the middle of your stomach. Keep your fingers about 4 inches (10 cm) apart, and tilt your hands just slightly toward your face.

This is a photograph from the first running of the newly situated Irish 3/4 Marathon (formerly the Athlone 3/4) which was held in Longwood, Enfield, Co. Meath, Ireland on Sunday 9th of October 2016 at 10:00. The event is positioned perfectly in the calendar as a key training race before the Dublin City Marathon at the end of the month. This year was the first year that the event was held in Longwood, Co. Meath which is now well known for its hosting of the Longwood 10KM/5KM annual races and a host venue for East of Ireland Marathon series marathons on a bi-annual basis. The race started and finished at Longwood GAA club just outside the village of Longwood. It followed an anti-clockwise course around the beautiful picturesque countryside of south Meath. The course went through the townlands of Longwood, Castlerickard, Killyon, Hill-of-Down, Anneville and Ashfield Clonard, Blackshare, Stoneyford and back to Longwood. The river Boyne and Blackwater were crossed as was the Royal Canal and the Dublin-Sligo Railway line at Hill-of-Down. Overall this was a very different course to the previous years in Athlone. The overall elevation of the course works out at 3/4 of the total elevation of the Dublin Marathon course. What most stood out about today's race was the course and how the countryside around it looked on a beautiful almost perfect Autumn morning. The organisation of the race was first class with every detail taken care of from the start until the finish.

There is a very large set of photographs from today's race - taken at the start in Longwood village, the 25KM mark outside our home and at about 17 miles at the top of Blackshade Bridge and the highest point of elevation on the course. They are available on our Flickr photostream at the following set. www.flickr.com/photos/peterm7/albums/72157673672195732

NOTE: These are completely unofficial photographs are not connected commercially with the Irish 3/4 marathon event photography. Please check the Official Website irish3quartermarathon.ie/ for official photographs and other media.

I want to download these pictures to my computer or device?

You can download this photographic image here directly to your computer or device. This version is the low resolution web-quality image. When you click on either of these you will be presented with the option to download the image. Remember just doing a right-click and "save target as" will not work on Flickr.

I want get full resolution, print-quality, copies of these photographs?

Let's get a bit technical: We use Creative Commons Licensing for these photographs

We use the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License for all our photographs here in this photograph set. What does this mean in reality?

The explaination is very simple.

Attribution- anyone using our photographs gives us an appropriate credit for it. This ensures that people aren't taking our photographs and passing them off as their own. This usually just mean putting a link to our photographs somewhere on your website, blog, or Facebook where other people can see it.

ShareAlike – anyone can use these photographs, and make changes if they like, or incorporate them into a bigger project, but they must make those changes available back to the community under the same terms.

Above all what Creative Commons aims to do is to encourage creative sharing. See some examples of Creative Commons photographs on Flickr: www.flickr.com/creativecommons/

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:

►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera

►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set

►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone

►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!

You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.

Don't like your photograph here?

That's OK! We understand!

If, for any reason, you are not happy or comfortable with your picture appearing here in this photoset on Flickr then please email us at petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com and we will remove it as soon as possible. We give careful consideration to each photograph before uploading.

I want to tell people about these great photographs!

Great! Thank you! The best link to spread the word around is probably http://www.flickr.com/peterm7/sets

As The Second Hour Approached it was time for Some Teams to Start thinking about Pit Stop Strategy and How this Might Move them either up a Position or Down Depending Upon the Time and Driver Driving.

Many of the Teams Pulled into the Pits with Only a Few Cars Out there Still going trying to get a Head Start while the other Teams opted to Pit and Change Drivers or take on Fuel for the Rest of the Race.

In the plain, two trenches were the first obstacles positioned in front of the contravallation line. At the moment of the siege (late summer - early fall) the first and the widest was filled with water channeled from a stream, while the second was dry.

The next obstacle was a 14 - 17 m wide glacis followed by two types of trap. First came the stimuli, metal goads embedded in short stakes planted in the ground and arranged in six rows in a staggered formation; A third, apparently dry, trench bordered the foot of the rampart.

See You All Again Next Year!

A victory over 3rd bottom Southport Hesketh would've seen Longridge go 5 points clear at the top of the West Lancashire League Premier Division with 4 games to play. Sadly, Town produced their worst performance of the season, going down 3-0 to a hard working Southport side, who played a 90 minutes that belied their League position.

Manager Lee Ashcroft started with two up front, Jack Preston joining Brad Carsley, with Jordan Bowen playing just in behind. Town started OK on a bumpy surface, with Carsley heading wide a Mark Woods cross after just 12 minutes, but four minutes later a Southport corner to the edge of the penalty area was volleyed home to put Hesketh 1-0 up.

The travelling Town support was to be disappointed if they expected a response from the League leaders as, playing into a strong wind, Longridge were struggling to get going, being out worked all over the pitch by the Home side.

After 38 minutes a free kick was lofted into the Longridge area and, after failing to clear their lines, Town went two down as the ball was stabbed home from six yards.

2-0 as the teams went in at half time, and Town would now be playing with the wind at their backs.

Former Southport player Mark Jeffers was introduced, in place of Jack Preston, at half time as Ashcroft look to get the ball wide and provide the ammunition for Carsley to add to his 26 goal tally.

Jeffers looked bright and Town started the half looking for the goal to get them back in the game, but the closest they came was a glancing header from Danny Morris that rolled wide from a corner.

Joe Melling was replaced by Jordan Tucker on the hour, as Ryan McKenna moved up front with Carsley, but it was all in vain as the Southport keeper remained untroubled, aside from showing good hands when saving a Carsley free kick on 76 minutes.

Just 2 minutes later it was all over, although it had felt that way for a while, as Southport outnumbered the Town defence and fired a 3rd goal into the corner of the net. 3-0.

The final 12 minutes were played out in the grim belief that Longridge had missed an opportunity, but Southport had played well and fully deserved their 3 points on the day.

After the match Manager Lee Ashcroft (pictured)was philosophical regarding his teams chances , " The important thing now is that we win our next 3 matches, as the outcome is still in our own hands then, before going to Blackpool on the final day. We were poor today admittedly, but we have to respond and I'm pleased that we have the chance to do that quickly with the Tempest game on Wednesday night."

Town now have 3 home games, starting on Wednesday night against Tempest United with a 7.30pm kick off, before then facing title rivals Blackpool Wren Rovers on the final day of the season on Saturday May 13th.

Today's result leaves Longridge two points clear at the top of the West Lancashire League Premier Division on 72 points, two clear of nearest challengers Wren Rovers.
