Man, The Front Bottoms have been playing non-stop since my awesome friend Sarah introduced me to them. They are such a solid band. They put on an amazing show as well. I was super happy I got to see them on a day off date, it became a super intimate show. For sure give them a listen if you havent!
"Always Tomorrow"
performed/written: Gloria Estefan
I've been alone inside myself far too long
I never really wanted it that way but I let it happen
If I could do it all again
My life would be
Infinitely better than before
I wouldn't waste a moment
Make time for laughing with my friends
Make love make music make amends
Try to make a difference
Try to love
Try to understand
Instead of just giving up
I'd use the power at my command
But there's always tomorrow
To start over again
Things will never stay the same
The only one sure thing is change
That's why there's always tomorrow
I guess it took a little time for me to see
The reason I was born into this world
and what I'd have to go through
Before I finally realize that I could be
Infinitely better than before, definitely stronger
I'll face whatever comes my way
Savor each moment of the day
Love as many people as I can along the way
Help someone who's given up
If its just to raise my eyes and pray
(chorus)
Before your last setting sun
And everything your heart has longed for
Has yet to be won
Yes there's always always always tomorrow
Though people come and they go
But if you've brought some love to their lives
Then you've got something to show
Always tomorrow

This dress is the ugliest dress I have ever bought. I liked the style but hated the pattern. Anyways, when I wore it....my aunt just loved it. I thought it was cute. She said it reminded her of a blouse she made with almost the same pattern. Just thought I'd share that with you.

Taken from the Marin Headlands on the same Saturday morning this past weekend, just a few minutes after sunrise. We were lucky to have witnessed such dramatic light in so many different ways on the same morning. Just when we thought we were finishing up, the weather kept surprising us with something new worth capturing.
Regarding the quote... I'm a big believer in following your dreams. I may seem like a bit of a daydreamer to some people, but I find that you need to have a vision of what you want before you go get it. You have to believe that what you want is possible, then you just need to figure out the steps to make it happen. I find that photography is like this for me... after I visualize the shot I want, it's just about figuring out the steps to get there. Just because you haven't done something before doesn't mean it's that difficult or impossible... you just haven't tried yet.

Parkinson's disease is a chronic and progressive degenerative disease of the brain that impairs motor control, speech, and other functions.
Parkinson's disease belongs to a group of conditions called movement disorders. It is characterized by muscle rigidity, resting tremor, slowing of movement (bradykinesia) and, in extreme cases, nearly complete loss of movement (akinesia). Secondary symptoms include high level cognitive dysfunction, subtle language problems, and depression. Some people with Parkinson’s disease develop Dementia in the late stages of the disease
In contrast to many other neurological disorders, the nature of the brain degeneration that produces Parkinson's disease has been well understood for decades. The symptoms are caused by loss of nerve cells that secrete dopamine in a tiny midbrain area called the substantia nigra. These nerve cells, for reasons that are not fully understood, are especially vulnerable to damage of various sorts, including drugs, disease, and head trauma. The term Parkinsonism is used for any process that destroys large numbers of these cells and thereby causes the same characteristic symptoms. Parkinson's disease, or more fully, idiopathic Parkinson's disease, is diagnosed when no specific physical cause for the loss of dopamine cells can be identified.
My father, Peter, suffers from dementia brought on by Alzheimer’s disease, Lewy Body disease and Parkinson’s disease. He is not a well man and at the young age of 72 his ability to perform normal tasks most of us take for granted is diminishing. He often suffers from confusion and memory loss but despite that he is still a loving, gentle and intelligent man with a ‘Dad’s’ sense of humour.
Recently, due to an increasing difficulty he has with shaving, he began growing a beard. I love it. After seeing him clean shaven for most of my life I reckon it really suits him. He is quite proud of it himself – and I think he really enjoyed ‘modelling’ for photos despite the fact smiling isn’t easy for him these days.

View large on black please... and identify this for me if you are able. The nail head next to this tiny beastie is 14mm in diameter... not sure what "penny" size the nail is... but it is holding together 4" square (10.16 cm square) landscape ties in my garden so must be AT LEAST a 60d nail according to the nail size discussion found in Wikipedia:
Nails are usually sold by weight (either in bulk or in boxes). In the US, the length of a nail is designated by its penny size. It is commonly believed that the origin of the term "penny" in relation to nail size is based on the old custom in England of selling nails by the hundred. A hundred nails that sold for six pence were "six penny" nails. The larger the nail, the more a hundred nails would cost. Thus the larger nails have a larger number for its penny size. This classification system was still used in England in the 18th century, but is obsolete there.
The penny size is written with a number and the abbreviation d for penny (e.g. - 10d). D is an abbreviation for denarius, a Roman coin similar to a penny; this was the abbreviation for a penny in the UK before decimalisation. A smaller number indicates a shorter nail and a larger number indicates a longer nail. Nails under 1¼ in., often called brads, are sold mostly in small packages with only a length designation (e.g. ½" (12 mm), 11⁄8" (28 mm), etc.). In boxes of nails that are packaged for pneumatics nails are called 8 penny nails but have a length of 2-3/8. Some 16d nails are called 16d short and measure 3-1/4". Penny size is not always directly correlated to length because nails with larger shanks and shorter lengths will be the same weight as the standard penny designation.

I originally had another plan for tonight's photo. This was quite random, shooting at 10pm. It's interesting how creativity can kick in and ideas come to mind when left to your own devices... The title of this photo comes from a very touching song by the band Oceana called The Spine Collection- www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZyOei4RkxQQ
The old ways always get at me
Throwing myself on the floor when I'm empty
Call me I'm falling in front of a demon possessing me
Making me talk
My throat gets rid of a part of me
Anxiety could end it all
Physically I've found that I'll stay the same
And you all should have nothing to say
Was afraid of living alone
You could of changed it
They could have saved us
I need something to fill in the hole
I was afraid of living alone
You could of changed it
They could saved us
I need something to fill in the hole
How pathetic my face is allergic
And everything my spine gives
Wanna get rid of it
When there's something saddening
The room writes a scene
I could not exist I want to get rid of it
The patches that hold my blood in
I've invented a new sin
The whole world takes part of it
In learning I'll love him
Right now he does not exist
Till then I'll be over it
It's one thing I'll never miss
And I'll never find a way to be happy
When there's no one here no one here that's like me
No one here that's like me
And I'll never find a way to be happy
When there's no one here no one here that's like me
No one here that's like me
I was afraid of living alone
You could of changed it
They could saved us
I need something to fill in the hole
I was afraid of living alone
You could of changed it
They could saved us
I need something to fill in the hole
I was afraid of living alone
alone...

A marvelous 3-piece Neoclassical aparador
Estimate: PHP 250,000 - 300,000
Last quarter, 19th century
Bulacan
Narra, narra / brass mounts
244 x 155 x 74 cm (96 x 61 x 29 in)
Provenance:
Formerly from the Manalastas family of Baliuag, Bulacan
Armoires of this size can only be found in grand houses owned by wealthy families, and placed in the main bedroom to store and keep neatly folded clothes and other valuables. The intentional relative sobriety in decorations on this cabinet is balanced by the outstanding proportions and craftsmanship. The molded edge of “par enroulement” or winding pediment / crown has Neoclassical volutes centering an anthemion, accentuated by bulbous urn finials on either side. Opening the doors carved with floating oblong center reveals internal shelves and drawers. Acanthus leaves and bolection molding on the frieze and base drawers add volume to this heavy-looking piece, while concealing the block feet behind it. No longer confined to the bedroom, this can become a centerpiece in a classical themed, or even in a modern living area.

Cardiff Centarl market on Mary Street., view from the balcony, the iron work is fantastic here.
A plan was adopted for Cardiff Market in 1890 and Haycock’s market of 1835 closed for demolition. In August of that year a memorial stone was laid for the new market which was officially opened on 8 May 1891. The new central market was designed on similar lines to that of the 1835 version, except that the St Mary Street entrance was provided by the existing archway beneath Market Buildings.
The market was designed by the borough engineer William Harpur, and consisted of a large wrought iron shed running from the back wall of Market Buildings through to Trinity Street.
The main market hall had stalls down each side and on either side of four aisles, with a balcony on all four sides of the hall. In all, 349 stalls were provided in the original layout, ranging from simple open counters to lock ups. There was a determined attempt to group tenants by trade and to confine non-food sales to the balcony in an effort to ensure that shoppers did venture upstairs. A raised office for the market superintendent was provided on the ground floor surmounted by a clock tower.
The Central Market was opened on 8 May 1891 by the Lady Mayoress of the day, the Marchioness of Bute. A plaque to commemorate the occasion can still be seen near the Trinity Street entrance.

Fallow deer have been present in Dublin's Phoenix Park since the seventeenth century when they were hunted for sport by the gentry of the day. The present-day herd is descended from those deer who were chased for enjoyment and hunted for food.
They are wild animals, and their relationship with man has sometimes been a stormy one, like when calls were made to remove the animals to a special enclosure so twentieth-century motorists could drive through the park on the way to somewhere else without having deer wandering the roads and precipitating accidents.
In fact, their wanderings during the Second World War and pressure on space in general in Phoenix Park saw most of 1,200 herd members being officially shot dead. Just thirty-eight animals constituted the herd, following the 1942 cull.
There are approximately 400 deer wander through the park today with some 200 fawns being born each year.
Hand-held from a distance of about 50m. 70-200mm at 200mm. ISO 100. 1/800 @ f/3.5
My daugther Anita have got a new point'n'shoot and took a trip to a man feeding some of the wild deer. He has done so for many years and the deer accept that you walk around close to them. Still this is wild animals. You shouldn't be fooled to think they are thame. If you try to touch them they will either run or kick at you.
It was heavy snowing , but I think that added to the mood in the pictures. I think she got some very nice and well composed shots.

So this is pretty rad. This happened due to a glitch in my SD card. i planned on a totally different idea for my 365, but when i went to transfer the photos my camera combined my photo with 2 old photos that had already been deleted. The bottom 2 images are completly untouched, the top portion i added an artifical light leak to give it the same feel. Let me know what you think!
A Batangas ‘Olympic’ altar table
ESTIMATE: PHP 700,000 - 750,000
Mid-19th century
Batangas
Balayong wood, kamagong and lanite inlays, brass hardware
83 x 129.5 x 62.5 cm (32 3/4 x 51 x 24 1/2 in)
Provenance:
Property of the family of Rosita Mercado of Lemery, Batangas
First appearing in Assyrian architecture as a type of decorative running ornament featuring two intertwining bands that repeat in a pattern of crossing intervals, it continued through Greek and Roman culture, then became known in 18th-century France as guilloche, which spread throughout the Georgian period in England. It symbolized unity and eternity. In furniture, these designs were often botanically inspired, appearing as waves, snowflakes, ribbons, and—in the case of this altar table—interlocking rings colloquially called nowadays the ‘Olympic’ motif, referencing the Olympic rings created in 1913 by Pierre de Coubertin.
Placed in the most prestigious spot in the main living room of a colonial home, the family’s venerated santo images were enshrined on top of the altar table; prayer books, rosaries, candles, santo garments, and other important items were stored in its drawers. Made entirely of dark balayong wood (Afzelia rhomboidea), a highly prized rosewood, it features a reddish-brown hue that darkens with age. A solid one-piece top rests on a frame with two smaller drawers above a larger one, all fitted with silver escutcheons and hand-hammered iron drop bail handles, and inlaid with fine borders of kamagong and lanite wood looping below the keyhole and sharply caving at the corners. The Olympic motif, carved in low relief, appears vividly on all four side flanges that taper downward with ogee-shaped extensions, as well as on the front and side aprons, creating a beautifully balanced piece of colonial furniture. Standing on square tapered legs, placing its age fittingly around the middle of the 19th century.

Fava Beans with Prosciutto
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
2 tablespoons minced prosciutto
1 teaspoons minced garlic
1-1/2 pounds fresh fava beans in the pod, shelled, parboiled, and peeled (yields 1 cup of fava beans)
1/2 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
In a medium skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the prosciutto and sauté for 1 minute. Add the garlic and sauté, stirring constantly, until mixture is fragrant and just beginning to turn brown, another 1 to 2 minutes.
Add the fava beans, season with salt and sauté until the beans are heated and coated well with the pan contents, another 2 minutes. (Some of the beans will begin to turn a lighter color.)
Add the balsamic vinegar, turn off the heat, and stir to coat. Add the mint and stir to combine and wilt it.
Additional Comments: TIP: Fava beans have two protective layers: a pod with a soft, furry lining; and a tough skin around each bean. Popping the beans out of the pod is obvious. Unless the beans are very young, they need to be peeled before using.
To remove the skin, boil the beans briefly, about a minute, cool under running water, and pinch the loose skin off with your fingers.

This Annapurna Sanctuary Trek presents a comprehensive exploration of the most hanging area in the 50 km Annapurna Range. This trekking package is designed to aid acclimatization with reasonable daily altitude increases. Setting of Annapurna Base Camp at 4130 m is unique and fairly spectacular, set amidst the majestic peaks of Annapurna I (8091 m), Annapurna South (7219 m), Machapuchhre (6993 m) and Hiunchuli (6441 m). ABC (4130 m) along the Machhapuchhre Base Camp is the ultimate destination for the trekkers in which the panoramic view of mountains never fail to dazzle. It’s ignored with the aid of the domineering peaks of Annapurna (8091m) and Machhapuchchhre (6993m), meaning “Fishtail” for its distinct summit.

My objective in scanning and subsequently uploading so many photographs from my archives is to preserve the images in digital form. I strongly believe that many if not most professional and advanced amateur photographers, are or should be doing the same thing with their images. In many instances like this they are preservation of photojournalistic or photodocumentary data from the past that can be viewed and enjoyed by future generations. I want to be certain that many of my better images outlive the shelf life of film and chemicals, fortunately digital imagery is the best way to do that.
This is a Kodachrome 64 slide scanned from my archives. The shot was taken in September 1984 in the Bunker Hill Financial District of Downtown Los Angeles. The skyline of the city has changed a great deal since that time.

On a sunny morning in May 2007, I visited the Anhauser-Busch Clydesdales at Sea World in San Diego. A mama mare and her young colt were in the paddock, mama grazing on the green grass, while her colt slept soundly nearby. The colt finally woke up, sleepily stood pretty still for a while, checked to see if his mama was close, then lay down on the grass again for some more sleep. They were so beautiful!
These very large horses are kept in such beautiful condition, with the long white hair on their enormous hooves brushed every day. Georgeous animals!
INFORMATION ON THE CLYDESDALE:
The Clydesdale is a breed of draft horse derived from the very hard-working farm horses of Clydesdale, Scotland, and named for that region. Thought to be over 300 years old, the breed was extensively used for pulling heavy loads in rural, industrial and urban settings, their common use extending into the 1960s when they were a still a familiar sight pulling the carts of milk and vegetable vendors.

From Anheuser-Busch Website:
The Anheuser-Busch Clydesdales were formally introduced to August A. Busch Sr., President of Anheuser-Busch, Inc., by his son on April 7, 1933. To qualify for one of the traveling hitches, an Anheuser-Busch Clydesdale must be a gelding (neutered male) at least four years of age. He must be 18 hands (6 ft. or 1.8 m); weigh between 1,800 to 2,000 lb. (817 - 907 kg); be bay in color; and have four white stocking feet, a blaze of white on the face and a black mane and tail.
Groups of ten Clydesdales travel together as a hitch team. Eight Clydesdales are hitched together to pull the wagon. Two horses travel as alternates.
The physical ability of each horse determines its position in the hitch. Wheelhorses (the pair closest to the wagon) must be large and strong enough to start the wagon’s movement and to use their weight to help slow or stop the vehicle. The body (second position) and swing (third position) pairs must be agile to turn the wagon. The leaders (the pair in front, furthest from the wagon) must be the fastest and most agile pair.

Jesus He Knows Me
Genesis
Do you see the face on the TV screen
Coming at you every Sunday
See the face on the billboard
That man is me
On the cover of the magazine
There's no question why I'm smiling
You buy a piece of paradise
You get a piece of me
I'll get you everything you wanted
I'll get you everything you need
Don't need to believe in hereafter
Just believe in me
Cos Jesus he knows me
And he knows I'm right
I've been talking to Jesus all my life
Oh yes he knows me
And he knows I'm right
And he's been telling me
Everything is alright
I believe in the family
With my ever loving wife beside me
But she don't know about my girlfriend
Or the man I met last night
Do you believe in God
Cos that is what I'm selling
And if you wanna go to heaven
I'll see you right
You won't even have to leave your house
Or get out of your chair
You don't even have to touch that dial
Cos I'm everywhere
And Jesus he knows me
And he knows I'm right
I've been talking to Jesus all my life
Oh yes he knows me
And he knows I'm right
And he's been telling me
Everything is alright
You won't find me practising what I'm preaching
Won't find me making no sacrifice
But I get you a pocketful of miracles
If you promise to be good, try to be nice
God will take good care of you
Just do as I say, don't do as I do
I'm counting my blessings
I've found true happiness
Cos I'm getting richer, day by day
You can find me in the phone book
Just call my toll free number
You can do it anyway you want
Just do it right away
There'll be no doubt in your mind
You'll believe everything I'm saying
If wanna get closer to him
Get on your knees and start praying
Cos Jesus he knows me
And he knows I'm right
I've been talking to Jesus all my life
Oh yes he knows me
And he knows I'm right
And he's been telling me
Everything is alright
