setup and processing (in response to shetha's question): I do have a polarizing filter, but I'm pretty sure I didn't use it here (because I pretty much never do). I think I used a 3 stop ND filter so I could keep the aperture wide open in the middle of the day. Shhh... It's our little secret. Don't tell anyone =D I took 3 bracketed exposures, but there was way too much movement to use multiple exposure-based HDR so I took this one at -2EV (good exposure for the sky) and increased the Fill Light to illuminate the foreground and increased the Recovery to get back some of the highlights from the RAW file that had blown out. Ends up being a similar process to what's usually referred to as single-exposure HDR, since what's really being described there is the tone mapping from the high dynamic range data stored in a single RAW file (while not nearly as high of a dynamic range you can get from multiple-exposures) into something visible on a monitor and storable in an 8-bit JPG. I'm really loving how easy it is to play around with all the most common Photoshop knobs in Lightroom when you don't need to do any local editing.
shout-out to the SetSeeker group which is a very cool forum to learn from other's setups: "We like all kind of photos taken with a previous setup, like lighting, subject selection and arrangement of the objects to be shot. The idea is that the photographer shows to group members its capture and a short description of how it was taken. A second picture as a comment, is a good way to show it, but is not required; just plain English or Spanish will work."
i'm catching up on my 365 and upoading late because it's been hectic here...
our car broke down and we're waiting for it to get fixed...
also my uncle left his girlfriend a few days ago (again!) and moved in with us (again!) and the crazy bitch girlfriend our phone number and after she called and tried screaming at me over the phone i had to have our number changed...i really can't stand her...she's a psychotic alcoholic on crank (no i'm not actually kidding) and i hate how when my uncle leaves her she stalks not just him, but all of us and that's the last thing my mum needs...she calls all of our phones daily, swearing at us, leaving us empty drunken threats...i just wish she would grow up and get help but she refuses to believe she has a problem...rawr...
**also, i know people have left me comments with questions in them, i often forget what they were and sometimes can't find them...like now :( if anyone ever needs/wants to ask me something, feel free to message me...i'm sometimes to slow to answer depending on my work day, but i never lose the message at least :D**

The castle of Morella (Province of Castellón, Spain), constructed at the top of the town on the “Mola” taking advantage of the rock, is a fortification of 13th century of Islamic architecture with later reforms of medieval architecture. It consists of the square of arms (1,070 ms), the palace of the governor, the Rain tank, the tower of the Pardalea, retreats to the flight by where entered the Carlistas in 1838, prison of Cacho, rest of real palaces, towers of Tribute, and official pavilions, by where are passed different forms from civilization and cultures.
In the area of the castle they have appeared prehistoric rest, Iberian and Roman. After it reconquers it began the present walls and the dependencies that already existed were qualified for the Christian kings.
The castle is divided in three levels: a first level located in the lower part of the rock in which there is the entrance and the Palace of the Governor. In the second level the artillery batteries were located. And in the third level would be the castle itself. The lower part this surrounded by walls and towers, of which they are the majority semicircular, that arises from the west part in zigzag form.
The castle, in the upper part, underwent modifications in the war of Succession and during the carlistas wars, being bombed the celoquia tower in 1813. To this more elevated zone it is acceded through stairs, that had 90 steps of which 54 are conserved, that leads to a door that takes step to the square by a passage that ends at the square of arms.

Brought my D700 to the cleaners, plus quite busy and a bit tired of Flickr - happens sometimes - but I'll be back and catching up! In the meantime...
About this shot
The shot above is almost two years old and actually only a 'vehicle' for some hints and tips I want to share with you for when you're preparing a (city) trip.
I took this shot with my (old and now sold) D90 + Nikon 18-200mm VRII travel lens, shooting from the back of the deck of a speedy moving river bus. It's fantastic travelling by boat in and around London! Glad I wasn't in the rowing boat though. :)
Preparing your city trip
In the 20th century (remember?) when you were sort of planning your trip, you went to a library or bookstore and got yourself a couple of books and/or travelguides from the place you we're going to visit. That's kinda old skool now.
Here's three simple tips to help you out planning your trip, picking spots with dusk/dawn in mind, and how to get inspired - all in 21st century stylee!
Tip number one: Let Flickr be your inspiration
Unless you're preparing a city trip to Atlantis (*blub, blub*), you'll find out that plenty of other excellent photographers have been visiting and shooting your destination. Take advantage of their efforts by browsing through their images, and learn from their spots and angles. You'll see the stuff that's been shot to death, so maybe you want to avoid these. Most likely though the work of others will inspire you to go out there shooting and give it your own 'personal touch/twist'.
I use Flickr search to get an idea about the possibilities of a certain location. It's a good idea to use more than one search keyword. So instead of using 'London' (for example), use 'London Thames barrier' or even better 'London Thames barrier night' to narrow down more specific results.
My personal tip is to use the filter 'Recent' on your search results. This way you'll find out the famous object you were planning to shoot is being renovated, surrounded by scaffolding - saving you the time and effort of going there all excited and end up sobbing.
An example: London Thames Barrier - Recent.
It's also a good idea to check out websites of a special spot you prepare to visit. For example: This way I found out the St. Paul (London) was being renovated and the excellent view over London you can get there is closed in March/April. I'd rather be dissapointed in advance than finding out about this after standing in a cue for 10 minutes or something.
Sometimes you're curious from what spot a photograph is taken, because you like that angle very much. Unfortunately not a lot of Flickr folks add maps to their images. Maybe to avoid that other people will 'copy' their angles? Tsk, tsk. We will find out anyhow! This brings us to my second tip...
Tip number two: Google Earth / Streetview
You'd like to explore the locations you're planning to visit beforehand? That's possible with (for example) the help of a couple of Google web applications.
Google Earth A useful download, especially with 3D elements.
Google Streetview Limited, but nonetheless useful.
While Google Streetview is very useful - it gives an excellent idea of 'being there' while you're still in front of your computer - it's rather limited because in the end it's only what it is: 'street view'. What does your photographic object look like from a boat in the middle of a river? What's a nice angle from that pedestrian bridge? How's the view from that hill? You can only find out with Google Earth. Pinpoint your location and you can check it out from any given angle. Together with the first tip (using Flickr search results) you'll get a pretty good idea if a location is promising and worthwhile enough for you. Plus you most likely will find out if there are any obstacles or unpleasant surprises making it difficult or impossible to take the shot you had in mind. No surprises for you if you prepared yourself using the tips above!
Tip number three: The Photographer's Ephemeris
Every photographer knows this, or should know it. Scott Kelby told me. ;-) There's only two periods in a day you can take shots that make a difference: at dusk and at dawn. No really!
Well, at home you can probably 'dream' where exactly the sun is coming up (east, right? hehe) and where it goes down (west - just a wild guess), which buildings it hits from that specific angle, where it sinks in the sea or where to find that nice view/spot at dusk/dawn. Now you're going to visit a different city you don't know *that* well. You know about the east and west thing and all that, but it won't be enough to be at the right spot at the right time at dusk or dawn! *Panic!*
Where's the sun going down while facing your object of photographic desire? Where's the moon? Do you want to plan a city trip with full moon? You want to prepare an evening or night session but want to know if it's in your view from *that* specific spot? Now what!?
Here comes the rather excellent Photographer's Ephemeris in handy! This little program is free for PC and Mac, and you will find it here. You pay for the iPhone/iPad/Android versions, but they're well worth it, especially the iPad edition.
You simply pick your spot (wherever!) and the date (of your future visit for example) and you'll get all the info on the whereabouts of the sun (dusk, dawn and everything in between) percentage and position of the moon, everything you'd like to know beforehand about the perfect light conditions.
Excellent stuff! That's the third and final tip, an awesome tool to plan your perfect city trip.
I also recommend Star Walk for iPhone by the way, an excellent app! Tells you everything about sunrise/sunset, the moon and all that. It's not free, but worth the money!
Summing it up and some extra tips
Free inspiration through Flickr, no more time wasting on location finding your way towards your favourite spots, and no surprises finding out the sun is out of range when you thought of catching a brilliant sunset over that stunning city view.
That being said, it's also a pretty smart idea to keep an eye on the weather conditions at all times - huge chance the unpredictable weather's going to be the biggest spoiler of your perfectly planned trip - especially going to the UK - but hey, that's life!
Even when the weather is not really cooperative you should always try to get the most out of your visit, so go out and try some rain shots or even better - when there's plenty of dark clouds floating by - bring your tripod and ND filters to create stunning Long Exposures!
I wish all of you out there a lot of fun with these hints and tips - if you already didn't use them - and happy shooting! Keep looking for that perfect angle, treat it with your personal touch!
My English is not perfect but I hope you can 'catch my drift'! :-)

Maresme's territory occupies a long and narrow area between the Mediterranean Sea and the hills of Serralada Litoral (Catalonia's coastal mountains), and specifically Montnegre's and Corredor's hills in the northern half and Sant Mateu's hills in the southern half. This particular shape has conditioned both the geography and the history of this comarca. Probably the main distinct elements of its geography are the characteristic rieres (torrents). These short, intermittent water streams, which cross the comarca transversally almost every hundred meters, produce powerful and dangerous floods when it rains.
Canet des de els Tarongers
Maresme has been historically very well connected with the rest of the comarca as well as with Barcelona thanks to old Camí Ral (Royal Way) (actual N-II main road) and railroad (The Barcelona–Mataró railroad route, finished in 1848, was the first ever in all the Iberian Peninsula). Communications were enhanced in recent years with the construction of the C-32's Barcelona–Mataró section (1969), which was the first autopista (highway) ever in Spain, and its subsequent enlargement, the Mataró-Palafolls's section (1995).

The Gothic loftiness of Notre-Dame dominates the Seine and the Ile-de-la-Cité as well as the history of Paris.
Notre-Dame de Paris is a church, a place of Roman Catholic worship, where Christians come together to pray. It opens its doors to people to participate in services or to freely visit the cathedral all year long.
Notre Dame de Paris was among the first buildings in the world to use the flying buttress (arched exterior supports). The building was not originally designed to include the flying buttresses around the choir and nave. After the construction began and the thinner walls (popularized in the Gothic style) grew ever higher, stress fractures began to occur as the walls pushed outward. In response, the cathedral's architects built supports around the outside walls, and later additions continued the pattern.
For a look at the upper parts of the church, the river, and much of Paris, climb the 387 steps to the top of one of the towers.

Wielkieś mi uczyniła pustki w domu moim,
Moja droga Orszulo, tym zniknieniem swoim!
Pełno nas, a jakoby nikogo nie było:
Jedną maluczką duszą tak wiele ubyło.
Tyś za wszytki mówiła, za wszytki śpiewała,
Wszytkiś w domu kąciki zawżdy pobiegała.
Nie dopuściłaś nigdy matce się frasować
Ani ojcu myśleniem zbytnim głowy psować,
To tego, to owego wdzięcznie obłapiając
I onym swym uciesznym śmiechem zabawiając.
Teraz wszytko umilkło, szczere pustki w domu,
A serce swej pociechy darmo upatruje."

Your flight, my dearest, caused
This vast emptiness in my house.
We are so many yet no one's here:
One tiny soul and so much is gone.
You spoke and sang for all alone,
Skipped around in every corner of the house,
Never let your mother fret,
Never let your father brood,
Hugging one and then the other,
Cheering all with joyful laughter.
Now all is silent, the house stands bare,
There's no laughter, song or joy.
From every corner stares remorseless grief
As gnawing heartache vainly seeks relief.

Aunque no sean artistas.
I took this photo of the New York Stock Exchange, draped with the American Flag, on Wall Street, on my first trip to New York City in October 2004.
After the tragic events of September 11, 2001, the NYSE building is well protected. Not only is the entrance guarded 24/7, it is surrounded by an iron fence and concrete barriers (the planters), AND there was a big pickup truck parked across the entrance to Wall Street here, and since Wall Street is so narrow, it blocked all vehicular traffic on the street.
MORE INFORMATION OF THE NYSE:
The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), nicknamed the "Big Board", is a New York City-based stock exchange. It is the largest stock exchange in the world by dollar volume and, with 2,764 listed securities, has the second most securities of all stock exchanges. Its share volume was exceeded by that of NASDAQ during the 1990s. As of December 31, 2006, the combined capitalization of all New York Stock Exchange listed companies was $25.0 trillion.
The NYSE is operated by NYSE Euronext, which was formed by its merger with the fully electronic stock exchange Archipelago Holdings and Euronext. The New York Stock Exchange trading floor is located at 11 Wall Street, and is composed of four rooms used for the facilitation of trading. The main building, located at 18 Broad Street between the corners of Wall Street and Exchange Place, was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1978.
The origin of the NYSE can be traced to May 17, 1792, when the Buttonwood Agreement was signed by twenty-four stock brokers outside of 68 Wall Street in New York under a buttonwood tree. On March 8, 1817, the organization drafted a constitution and renamed itself the "New York Stock & Exchange Board". (This name was shortened to its current form in 1863.) Anthony Stockholm was elected the Exchange's first president. In 1922, a building designed by Trowbridge & Livingston was added at 11 Broad Street for offices, and a new trading floor called "the garage". Additional trading floor space was added in 1969 and 1988 (the "blue room") with the latest technology for information display and communication.

Pewien znany ktos, kto mial dom i sad
Zgubil nagle sens i w zle kregi wpadl
Choc majatek prysl, on nie stoczyl sie

Monaco is a principality governed under a form of constitutional monarchy, with Prince Albert II as head of state.[19] Even though Prince Albert II is a constitutional monarch, he still has immense political power.[20] The House of Grimaldi have ruled Monaco, with brief interruptions, since 1297.[21] The official language is French, but Monégasque, Italian, and English are widely spoken and understood.[note 1] The state's sovereignty was officially recognized by the Franco-Monegasque Treaty of 1861, with Monaco becoming a full UN voting member in 1993, after much political debate.[8] Despite Monaco's independence and separate foreign policy, its defence is the responsibility of France.[22] However, Monaco does maintain two small military units, totaling 255 officers and men, the Corps des Sapeurs-Pompiers de Monaco, and the Compagnie des Carabiniers du Prince.
Caliraya Lake, Laguna, Philippines. i had the privilege of visiting this place last year with a group of 30 some fellow Filipino Flickrites. i believe i had used up every byte of my 8GB CFC card that's why i had to resort to my iPhone. didn't turn out so badly, i must say. i may have another chance to visit this place in January 2010 - that's only 330 days away.
i think i'm going to sound like a broken record, about not having had the chance to visit all your streams the past few days. that pesky work has been getting in the way of my Flickring. i actually just got home less than a couple of hours ago - that's past 10pm west coast time. but i thought i'd post one from my archives so that you won't think i've gone AWOL again. it's almost end of the week! hang in there, you all (that includes me)!
this is my first actual post for this project (04.27.2010). if you've missed my previous declaration--i will be posting a photograph with an accompanying memory on every full moon.
the moon is currently 100% full.
i have yet to see it--still a bit light outside.
but at around 10 i'm going to drive around just so i can gaze at it for a while.
i'm jealous that my brother get's a full moon on his birthday. (happy birthday, big bruddah! love you & miss you so much)
memory #001.
day: 04.13.2009
my family and i flew to east texas to visit my grandfather's grave.
on our way--i witnessed the most surreal sky of my entire existence.
the atmosphere had a belly fully of the plumpest clouds, for miles and miles.
i kept forgetting to breath.
i thought of my grandfather the entire way.

Paul Verlaine

My familiar dream
I often have this dream, strange and penetrating
of a woman, unknown, whom I love, who loves me,
and who’s never, each time, the same exactly,
nor exactly different, she knows me, she’s loving.
Oh she knows me, and my heart, growing
clear for her alone, is no longer a problem,
for her alone, she alone understands, then,
how to cool the sweat of my brow with her weeping.
Is she dark, blonde, or auburn? - I’ve no idea.
Her name? I remember it’s vibrant and dear,
as those of the loved that life has exiled.
Her eyes are the same as a statue’s eyes,
and in her voice, distant, serious, mild,
the tone of dear voices, of those who have died.
Paul Verlaine
A lovely bloom.. I saw a few weeks back.. can't recall it's name.. View On Black
Thanks for all your visits.. comments.. etc.. over the last week..
Addendum: it seems the dream is running fast to an end . . . and it is a sad one
A dictator always says "My people!" as if it were a herd to be gathered in a stable, in fences, uses demagogy to get people's consensus and stops freedom of thought, speech, religion and condemns and punishes each diversity.
A wise chief of his state always addresses the free citizens that believed his non demagogist plan to preserve their freedom, and knows that diversities ar richness and fuel for freedom and democracy and protects them and promotes free debate, exchange and peaceful coexistence.
The boundary between Asia and Europe is almost everywhere uncertain, but in one place it's perfectly delineated: along the Bosphorus and the Dardanelles.
So Istanbul, that spans on both sides of Bosphorus Channel, is the only city in the world being subdivided in two continents.

Years ago, a friend told me a story from her childhood that I'd not heard before, and I think of it often. The story goes like this:
One morning, a little girl was looking across the valley from her house, admiring the beautiful golden windows on a house on the top of the hill.
"Mom," she said, "Do you see that house on the hill with golden windows? It must be so beautiful there, and the people who live there must be so wealthy! I'll bet they have no problems and their lives are filled with happiness every day. I wish OUR HOUSE had golden windows."
"Oh, darling," replied the mother, "no one's life is perfect. Even people who live in a house with golden windows."
"No, I think you are wrong! I want to go see for myself!" So the mother packed the daughter a lunch, and away the daughter went to cross the valley and see how wonderful life was for the people who lived in the house with golden windows.
The girl walked all day long. As she reached the bottom of the valley, she lost sight of the house but kept going. It was dusk by the time she reached the top of the other hill. But to her surprise, all she found was an ordinary house. She saw no golden ornaments, nothing that made the house look different or more special than any other house. The people looked ordinary, just like the people in her own family. She was puzzled.
Disappointed, she turned around to gaze at her own house across the valley she'd just crossed. And to her surprise, her house was ablaze with light. The windows shone with gold as the setting sun lit them up. In disbelief, she looked again at the ordinary house in front of her, then back to her house gleaming across the way.
"MY house has golden windows!" she said in amazement. She stood for a moment, struck by how beautiful her house looked from this side of the valley. She took off running back down the hill, eager to return to her family.

A planetary nebula is an astronomical object consisting of a glowing shell of gas and plasma formed by many stars
as they approach the end of their lives, while a nova is a cataclysmic nuclear explosion
caused by the accretion of hydrogen onto the surface of a nearly-dead white dwarf star in a close binary.
The star which erupted was a nova, an event caused when matter is transferred from one star in a close binary system onto its companion,
eventually triggering a runaway thermonuclear explosion. The nebula surrounding this nova is a planetary nebula,
which must have formed during an earlier phase in the binary star's existence, when the outer layers of one of the companions were expelled.
Only one previous nova has been seen to occur inside a planetary nebula – Nova Persei in 1901.
The opportunity to watch in detail as the nova flash interacts with the nebula is a first in astronomy.
Callier, a childhood friend of Curtis Mayfield, began recording in 1963 but never reached stardom despite a series of regional hits in the 1960s and 1970s. In 1983, he gained custody of his 12-year-old daughter Sundiata and decided to retire from music to look for a steadier income. He took classes in computer programming and landed a job at the University of Chicago in 1984.
He reemerged from obscurity when British DJs discovered his old recordings and began to play his songs in clubs in the late 1980s. Acid Jazz Records head Eddie Piller brought Callier to play clubs in Britain beginning in 1991 and he began to make regular trips to play gigs during his vacation time from work.
In the late 90s Callier began his comeback to recorded music, contributing to Beth Orton's Best Bit EP in 1997 and releasing the album Timepeace in 1998, which won the United Nations' Time For Peace award for outstanding artistic achievement contributing to world peace. Curiously, his colleagues at the University of Chicago never learned of Callier's life as a musician, but after the award the news of his secret life became widely known and subsequently led to his firing.
Callier today is continuing his recording career having currently released five albums since Timepeace.
May 2009 saw his album Hidden Conversations featuring Massive Attack released on Mr Bongo records.

The Monastery of Santa Maria de Poblet is a Cistercian monastery, founded in 1151, located in the comarca of Conca de Barberà, in Catalonia (Spain). It was founded by Cistercian monks from France.
It was the royal pantheon of the kings of the Crown of Aragon since James I of Aragon.
This monastery was abandoned in 1835 and was restored during the 1940s.
This monastery was the first of three sister monasteries, known as the Cistercian triangle, that helped consolidate power in Catalonia in the 12th century. (The other two are Vallbona de les Monges and Santes Creus)
It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, since 1991.

Catalonia covers an area of 32,114 km² and has an official population of 7,535,251.[2]
It comprises the larger part of the territory of the former Principality of Catalonia, with the remainder of the historic Catalan region now part of southern France. Catalonia borders France and Andorra to the north and the Mediterranean Sea to the east (580 km coastline). The neighbouring Spanish regions of Aragon and the Valencian Community lie to the west and south respectively. The official languages are Catalan, Spanish, and Aranese (Occitan); Catalan Sign Language is also officially recognised.[3] The Catalan government intends to hold a referendum on independence from Spain in 2014.

Coming around again...
Baby sneezes
Mummy pleases
Daddy breezes in
So good on paper
So romantic
But so bewildering
(chorus)
I know nothing stays the same
But if youre willing to play the game
Its coming around again
So dont mind if I fall apart
There's more room in a broken heart
You pay the grocer
Fix the toasted
Kiss the host good-bye
Then you break a window
Burn the souffl?
Scream the lullaby
I know nothing stays the same
But if youre willing to play the game
Its coming around again
So dont mind if I fall apart
Theres more room in a broken heart
And I believe in love
But what else can I do
Im so in love with you
I know nothing stays the same
But if youre willing to play the game
Its coming around again

----------------------------------------------------- & -----------------------------------------------------
Dedicated to my friends on Flickr Tierra del Fuego.
It is not the impressionism of Monet, the oils used brushes and canvases, but ... ..
As you know the red is the traditional color of love. All this is related to the message of a classic "I love you" with a rose, orchids, dahlias and a long etcetera. etc.
But poppies and that is said?
I prefer to associate with these poppies is my reflection:
In the field, one is the red poppy, two days of life has given to the nature of their leaves wither and fall to the wet or dry soil, and without life or comfort.
I feel sad to see the death of a poppy beauty florida showed me in my walks through the countryside and now it is nothing.
The wind has already taken my flowers, I need to see him, gave me life and joy as she was all poetry, it was all an innocent child, she was ... ... ... ... .. A simple flower.

It's was quite dark already as I took this, so that's why I used the full aperture. No added vignette, what you see is natural vignetting of the lens. (:
Tagged by Latryx, so here is my thoughts:
1. What I like to photograph the most:
All kind of objects and compositions using my beloved 50mm f/1.4 and 100mm f/2.8 macro lenses. I am probably some kind of bokeh addict for most of the time nice bokeh is something I’m after. Moreover, I enjoy shooting during school exercises if I just have time to do that. :D
2. What I like to photograph the least:
I would like to do more portraits but I have very little experience of those. I don’t know why I’m so shy to take photos of others. However, candid shots are something I like to do when I’m just enough confident that I won’t be noticed (of course it doesn’t matter if the subject is somehow familiar to me).
3. Photography Peeves:
- People looking at while taking pictures, nowadays I don’t care so much about that than before…
- Being very strict about lens changes and exaggerated fear of sensor dust. :D
- My gear is quite heavy and challenging to carry all places that I would like to.
4. What I admire from other photographers:
- The eye of notices very interesting compositions and places
- Landscape photographers making big effort and carrying a lot of gear to difficult places just in order to take great image.
- Street photographing, it’s not the easiest thing, you have to be very observant, fast and inconspicuous at the same time.
5. What I'd like to learn better:
- landscape photography
- wide angle HDRs
- minimalistic art
- ultra wide angle stitches (like the previous image in my stream)
- portraits with strobist stuff (reflectors and strobes)
- candid shots of great moments
- wedding photography and generally photography in every kind of events
Finally here is some of my friends I want to tag:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The monastery of San Juan de la Peña is located at the south-west of Jaca, in Huesca,Aragón,Spain.
As a result of the Muslim invasion, a number of hermits vanished themselves to this remote spot in the Pyrinees and they created a meeting point for hermit life which lived on until the 10th century.
In the year 920, Galindo Aznarez II, Count of Aragón, conquered the lands South of the river Aragón, reaching the mountains of San Juan de la Peña, where he founded a monastery devoted to St Julián and St Basilisa, which was erected in the same place where the hermits used to live.
In 1701, Sancho Ramírez (second king of Aragón) created the Monastery of San Juan de la Peña over the old one, and he designed it as a burying place for the kings of Aragón. He also endowed the monastery with a vast estate and began the construction of its high Church.
The second half of the 12th century was disastrous for the monastery; it lost the Pope's favor and also the King's, who moved the capital of the kingdom of Aragón to Huesca. Later on, in 1157, when complete bankruptcy was looming, it was saved by Pope Adrian VI and by the Count Ramón Berenguer IV, Prince of Aragón.
In 1245, with abbot Iñigo at its head, the monastery reached an agreement that allowed it to start another peaceful spell and to become once again one of the main Benedictine centers of Aragón.
In the 16th century, the monastery underwent yet another decrease in its patrimony, owing to the separation of the dioceses of Jaca and Huesca.
In 1675 there was a great fire; the refectory, the guesthouse and the rich archive burnt in the fire. The monastery was left in a pitiful state, which led the monks to build a new monastery on the plains of San Indalecio.
See my imperfections, or just read the words.
"We'll make it I swear"
Thank you to my brother for writing this on me. And for always thinking I'm weird, but never questioning.
Thank you to everyone who read my words and found a little piece of themselves somewhere in there. Thank you to those of you who told me that. Thank you to those of you who didn't. Thank you to those of you who simply read it; that is more than enough. Thank you to those of you who understand. Thank you to those of you who don't; I would be nothing without you. Thank you to those of you who cared and saw my hurting and told me I'm enough.
You give me hope.
It would seem I have a thing for backs.
Edit: Made it to Explore. This is crazy, you guys! Thank you.

Chogha Zanbil is an ancient Elamite complex in the Khuzestan province of Iran. It is one of the few extant ziggurats outside of Mesopotamia. It lies approximately 42 kilometeres South Southwest of Dezfoul, 30 kilometres West of Susa and 80 kilometres North of Ahvaz.
It was built about 1250 BC by the king Untash-Napirisha, mainly to honor the great god Inshushinak. Its original name was Dur Untash, which means 'town of Untash', but it is unlikely that many people, besides priests and servants, ever lived there. The complex is protected by three concentric walls which define the main areas of the 'town'. The inner area is wholly taken up with a great ziggurat dedicated to the main god, which was built over an earlier square temple with storage rooms also built by Untash-Napirisha. The middle area holds eleven temples for lesser gods. It is believed that twenty-two temples were originally planned, but the king died before they could be finished, and his successors discontinued the building work. In the outer area are royal palaces, a funerary palace containing five subterranean royal tombs.
Although construction in the city abruptly ended after Untash-Napirisha's death, the site was not abandoned, but continued to be occupied until it was destroyed by the Assyrian king Ashurbanipal in 640 BCE. Some scholars speculate, based on the large number of temples and sanctuaries at Chogha Zanbil, that Untash-Napirisha attempted to create a new religious center (possibly intended to replace Susa) which would unite the gods of both highland and lowland Elam at one site.
Archaeological excavations undertaken between 1951 and 1962 revealed the site again, and the ziggurat is considered to be the best preserved example in the world. In 1979, Chogha Zanbil became the first Iranian site to be inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Explored #183 (8/13/2013, but no longer in the day's top 500). Thanks!
Since I didn't want to brave the weather last August 10, my 366 Snaps shots were taken inside the house.
Several of 'em were of the rain on various windows....

Actually, I had an idea for a daily photo: I'd shoot a pic of Joan's CD collection. This turned out to be surprisingly difficult, as poor light and the small room worked against me. The bigger problem was the minimum focus distance for the lens, which forced me to lean against the far wall of the room. The smaller problem was that exposures were in the quarter-second range.
I worked at improving the light. I got serious about steadying the camera. I tried several ways to frame the picture. I shot several dozen photographs. Eventually I made a capture I was willing to share.

This photograph is an outtake from my 2012 photo-a-day project, 366 Snaps.
Number of project photos taken: 87 [you doubted that "dozens"?]
Title of "roll:" Playback
Other photos taken on 8/10/2012: A grey day, but by noon the rain had stopped. All afternoon I was shooting pix of birds at feeders, using both Nikons. I'm pretty sure we never saw any sunshine...

This is it. Everything prior to this moment—all pasts hopes and failures become insignificant. It approaches... slowly, unclear on to what to expect. How will she react? Will she scream? Run? More importantly it ponders its own reaction. Will it give in to its predatorily instincts? Is this just another vain attempt to be something it is not? Or will it prove strong enough to control the beast in order to understand this new and strange desire? This much is not clear. But what is clear is no matter the outcome, nothing will ever be the same again. It has changed… It has evolved.
End.

Well that was fun... Its a good feeling when you go out not exactly sure what to expect and end up with some halfway decent shots. This was all totally random.. Wasnt sure if the idea of a "creature" was even good but it was an idea and I ran with it. Sarah was a great sport for playing along seeing as shes extremely camera shy. While editing this series I couldnt help but see a story so I tried my hand at writing one (rubbish, I know). Hopefully it was enjoyable. If so I may try my hand at another story series in the future.

On April 26, 1986, the world’s worst nuclear power accident occurred at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant near the Ukrainian-Belarus border. Toxic radionuclides like Cs137 and Sr90 contaminated an area of 155,000 square kilometers in what is today Belarus, Ukraine and Russia. Hundreds of thousands of people were killed, sickened from radiation-induced illnesses, or resettled to uncontaminated land.
Today, the immediate area remains off limits to humans. The plant was permanently closed in 2000. The surrounding agricultural land has been abandoned, and the two nearby towns (Pripyat to the north and Chernobyl to the south) where plant workers lived are largely ghost towns. Instead of people, abundant wildlife—packs of wolves, deer, and birds—roam and live near Chernobyl.
This image, taken from the Russian Mir spacecraft, shows Chernobyl and the surrounding countryside. The power plant is situated on the northwest end of a cooling pond on the Pripyat River, which flows into the Dnepr River just 80 miles north of Kiev. The main features visible in the image are the massive concrete dams and levees that were constructed to contain elements of the power plant and prevent contaminated runoff from entering the local streams. The cooling water canals leading to the pond, and the levees in the middle of the pond that channeled the water circulation can also be seen. The darker green regions are forests and the light green areas are cleared land used for agriculture.
Image NM23-745-116 was taken April 27, 1997, from the Russian Mir Space Station with a Hasselblad medium format camera equipped with a 250-mm lens and is provided by the Earth Observations Laboratory, Johnson Space Center. The NASA-Mir program was the first phase of the International Space Station Program, which now supports the Earth Observations Laboratory. The program trains astronauts to take pictures of Earth that are of value to scientists and the public, and to make those images freely available on the Internet. Additional images taken by astronauts and cosmonauts can be viewed at the NASA/JSC Gateway to Astronaut Photography of Earth.

The welcome sign to the remote west Texas ghost town of Lobo.
For a ghost town, they have a remarkable website. Established in 1882 as a stop for the railroad that runs past it, the website claims a population of 15 today, but there was no sign of life, of residency, or operational utilities anywhere in town the night I was there.
Night, 3/4 moon, turquoise-gelled flashlight & partially red-gelled strobe. 4 minute exposure.
