This is a vegetable and fruit stand located on Kendall Drive in Miami. Stopped by on Saturday, the sun was setting and colors were nice and intense, sort of a moody feeling to the scene. Anyway, here it is.
Used Nik filters for effects and mood.
Have a very nice Tuesday my Flicker friends and contacts.

NO HUGE GRAPHICS OR MULTIPLE INVITES IN YOUR COMMENTS PLEASE, NONE IS BETTER
Not everything in life is as we expect. There are times when nothing goes as planned, there are times when problems are the only ones we get. We even feel no one is closer to us and we feel so alone even in the crowd, thinking about the solutions for all the problems we have. We even dream about having a single solution which solves all our problems in a second, like pressing a remote button and the whole scenario changes and there is complete happiness around. But reality is brutal, it kind of makes us think about those problems till we are exhausted and down. But there is an interesting thing about these "problems". If we think the problem can be solved, why do we hurt ourself trying to solve it ourselves, or if we feel if it can never be solved, then why hurt ourselves thinking about something which never exists. No matter how down you are its upto you to put your heads up and walk across the problems or put your head down and hurt yourself thinking about them when life is fast moving away from you. Thanks for all your visits, comments and fav

The Security Council, by its resolution 1778 of 25 September 2007, approved the establishment in Chad and the Central African Republic of a multidimensional presence intended to help create the security conditions conducive to a voluntary, secure and sustainable return of refugees and displaced persons, inter alia by contributing to the protection of refugees, displaced persons and civilians in danger, by facilitating the provision of humanitarian assistance in eastern Chad and the north-eastern Central African Republic and by creating favourable conditions for the reconstruction and economic and social development of those areas.
The Council decided that the multidimensional presence shall include a United Nations Mission in the Central African Republic and Chad (the acronym MINURCAT is to be used in all languages), with the following mandate in eastern Chad and the north-eastern Central African Republic, in liaison with the United Nations country team:
Security and protection of civilians
(a) To select, train, advise and facilitate support to elements of the Police tchadienne pour la protection humanitaire;
(b) To liaise with the national army, the gendarmerie and police forces, the nomad national guard, the judicial authorities and prison officials in Chad and the Central African Republic to contribute to the creation of a more secure environment;
(c) To liaise with the Chadian Government and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in support of their efforts to relocate refugee camps which are in close proximity to the border, and to provide to UNHCR, on availability and cost-reimbursable basis, logistical assistance for that purpose;
(d) To liaise closely with the Sudanese Government, the African Union, the African Union Mission in the Sudan (AMIS), the AU/UN Hybrid operation in Darfur (UNAMID), the United Nations Peacebuilding Support Office in the Central African Republic (BONUCA), the Multinational Force of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (FOMUC) and the Community of Sahelo-Saharan States (CEN-SAD) to exchange information on emerging threats to humanitarian activities in the region;
Human rights and the rule of law
(e) To contribute to the monitoring and to the promotion and protection of human rights, with particular attention to sexual and gender-based violence, and to recommend action to the competent authorities, with a view to fighting impunity;
(f) To support, within its capabilities, efforts aimed at strengthening the capacity of the Governments of Chad and the Central African Republic and civil society through training in international human rights standards, and efforts to put an end to recruitment and use of children by armed groups;
(g) To assist the Governments of Chad and, notwithstanding the mandate of BONUCA, the Central African Republic in the promotion of the rule of law, including through support for an independent judiciary and a strengthened legal system, in close coordination with United Nations agencies.”
The Security Council, acting under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations, also:
(a) Authorizes the European Union to deploy, for a period of one year from the date that its initial operating capability is declared by the European Union in consultation with the Secretary-General, an operation (hereinafter referred to as “the European Union operation”) aimed at supporting the elements referred to in paragraphs 2 to 4, and decides that this operation shall be authorized to take all necessary measures, within its capabilities and its area of operation in eastern Chad and the north-eastern Central African Republic, to fulfil the following functions, in accordance with the arrangement to be concluded between the European Union and the United Nations, in liaison with the Governments of Chad and the Central African Republic:
(i) To contribute to protecting civilians in danger, particularly refugees and displaced persons;
(ii) To facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid and the free movement of humanitarian personnel by helping to improve security in the area of operations;
(iii) To contribute to protecting United Nations personnel, facilities, installations and equipment and to ensuring the security and freedom of movement of its staff and United Nations and associated personnel.
(b) Authorizes the European Union operation, at the close of the period referred to in subparagraph a, to take all appropriate measures to achieve an orderly disengagement, by means including fulfilment of the functions indicated in subparagraph a, and within the limits of its residual capacity.”
The Council also, among other things, invited the European Union operation to immediately take all appropriate measures to prepare its full operational capability and requested the Secretary-General to coordinate closely with the European Union particularly with regard to those arrangements required to ensure appropriate protection for United Nations personnel, facilities, installations and equipment and ensure freedom of movement of United Nations staff.
The Security Council, by its resolution 1861 of 14 January 2009, extended MINURCAT’s mandate for a period of 12 months in order to help create the security conditions conducive to a voluntary, secure and sustainable return of refugees and displaced persons, inter alia by contributing to the protection of refugees, displaced persons and civilians in danger; by facilitating the provision of humanitarian assistance in eastern Chad and the north-eastern Central African Republic; and by creating favourable conditions for the reconstruction and economic and social development of those areas.
In the same resolution, the Council authorized the deployment of a military component of MINURCAT to follow up EUFOR in both Chad and the Central African Republic at the end of its mandate on 15 March 2009.
It decided that MINURCAT should include a maximum of 300 police officers, 25 military liaison officers, 5,200 military personnel, and an appropriate number of civilian personnel.
The Council further decided that MINURCAT should have the following mandate in eastern Chad and the north-eastern Central African Republic, in liaison with the United
Nations country team and, as appropriate, in liaison with the United Nations Peacebuilding Support Office in the Central African Republic (BONUCA) and
without prejudice to the mandate of BONUCA:

Another from my trip to St. Michael's, Maryland. This was the pier at the house that we stayed at for the trip. The view we had was one of the reasons I fell in love with the area. The weather was perfect for our trip, not too humid. I just relaxed on the pier for hours enjoying the view.

Wicklow, Irish: Cill Mhantáin, meaning "church of the toothless one"[1][2]) is the county town of County Wicklow in Ireland. Located south of Dublin on the east coast of the island, it has a population of 10,070 according to the 2006 census.[3] The town is situated to the east of the N11 route between Dublin and Wexford. Wicklow is also connected to the rail network, with Dublin commuter services now extending to the town. Additional services connect with Arklow, Wexford and Rosslare Europort, a main ferry port. There is also a commercial port, mainly importing timber and textiles.
Built for the Used Cart Salesman category of the Colossal Castle Contest XVI, this model is my third entry this year. The challenge of creating the look of a medieval city on such a small foot print was an enjoyable task, and I’m quite pleased with how the tudor houses turned out. Using sideways headlight bricks with tiles for cobblestone is an old idea, that I just made my own version of that design for this scene.
Harburg is a bustling city and Lord Karsten often likes to walk the streets and see firsthand what goes on. Today he is accompanied by his daughter Elise, and while they wander around the city they see many vendors peddling various wares from their carts. Baked goods are always one of the most difficult items to refuse – the savory smells wafting from bakers’ wares are so tempting!

Chasis estrenar y motor boxer Lancia Flavia

Let all that are to mirth inclined
Consider well and bear in mind
What our good God for us has done
In sending his beloved Son
For to redeem our souls from thrall
Christ is the saviour of us all.
The twenty-fifth day of December
We have good cause to remember
In Bethlehem upon that morn
There was a blessed Messiah born
But mark how all things came to pass
The inn and lodgings filled was
That they could find no room at all
But in a straw-filled oxes stall.
Near Bethlehem some shepherds keep
Their flocks and herds of feeding sheep
To whom God's angels did appear
Which put the shepherds in great fear
With thankful heart and joyful mind
The shepherds went this babe to find.
And as the heavenly angel told
They did our saviour Christ behold.
Three eastern wise men from afar,
Directed by a glorious star
Came boldly on and made no stay,
Until they came where Jesus lay.
And being come unto that place
Where the blessed Messiah was
They humbly laid before his feet
Their gifts of gold and incense sweet.
See how the Lord of heaven and earth
Shewd himself lowly in his birth;
A sweet example for mankind
To learn to bear an humble mind.
Let all your songs and praises be
Unto his heavenly majesty
And evermore amongst our mirth
Remember Christ our Saviour's birth.

View Large and on Black. Looks more like a painting, less like a photo. It's supposed to look like a painting, and "over processed".
Watch out, because she's gunna get you. Ok folks, here you go: The first of two insane edits, edited with Corel Painter 9.5. I was going for the "painting" effect. I'm very proud. I think It turned out amazing. If anyone wants to see the originals let me know. Also, my bone structure an everything like that: Not edited. I really do have those type of cheeks, and those lips, and that shaped nose, and those shaped eyes. I just don't have the light green irises, the platinum hair, or the flawless skin. Unfortunately...
Also, this is my alter ego. I really feel if I cracked my personal shell, I would be this daring, dangerous little kitten. Too bad, because that's just my Ideal. I'm far too happy-go-lucky/ real person to pull this off. Oh, only in my dreams. At least I can look it for now. That's the best part about photography: You can just be YOU.
After some comments: I would really like to know how people can rave about photos that are so over processed, like HDR photos, and other 'shopped photos, but when it comes to a photo turned painting (mind you a majority digital artists works this way) or EVERY edit of some woman, gets so much crap. How is adding a dosage of fantasy so horrible in comparison to the extreme edits of fashion photograph? I guess I'm beginning to rant, but I honestly do appreciate the opinions. I just wish people would approach this from a digital artist's P.O.V. rather than a photographers. And by digital artist I don't mean someone who does post processing, and editing, I'm talking about someone who creates art from a photo. What ever though.
PS: When rating photos, don't put something like ':) I like!' with a rating of 4/10. Just an example. It not only pisses me off, but it pisses off EVERYONE who gets ratings like that.
La, la, la. Sorry for the rant, I'm in a pissy mood...
Anyways I was going for something a little elf/ fairy/ nymph ish.
Here is the original. It was dusk out, so I just used the built in flash.

Rizal Park is situated in the heart of the city of Manila, Philippines. It is at the northern end of Roxas Boulevard, overlooking Manila Bay.
Rizal Park's history began in the early 1700s during the Spanish rule. While Manila's social and business activities were confined within Intramuros, a small area just south of the walls was cleared to prevent sneak attacks from the patriotic natives. The area was shaped like a small moon (lunette) and thus was named Luneta. The Park was also called Bagumbayan (English: New Town) in Spanish colonial era, and later known as Luneta.
Luneta has been the site of some of the most significant moments in Philippine history . Among them are the execution of Dr. José Rizal on December 30, 1896, whose martyred death made him a hero of the Philippine Revolution. (It was officially renamed Rizal Park in tribute to him.); the Declaration of Philippine Independence from American rule on June 4, 1946; and the political rallies of Ferdinand Marcos and Corazon Aquino in 1986.
The monument also serves as the point of origin or Kilometre Zero to all other cities in the Philippines
The Porsche 977 Turbo Cabriolet is capable of reaching similar top speeds, and acceleration, of the standard Porsche 997 Turbo Coupe. This is considered an astonishing feat because usually the convertible version of cars are much slower than the hardtop variant, due to its slightly less stable aerodynamics associated with its soft roof, and its extra weight caused by the structural reinforcements made necessary by the absence of B and C pillars.

La Folle Journée or the Follies of a Day :
La Folle Journée is a French annual classical music festival held in Nantes. It is the largest classical music festival in France.
The festival's name refers to the Pierre Beaumarchais play The Marriage of Figaro, whose alternative title is La Folle Journée ("The Follies of a Day").
René Martin founded the La Folle Journée festival in 1995, with the intention of presenting short classical music concerts for diverse audience, on one day. The primary venue at the time was the Cité des congrès de Nantes. Since its founding, the festival has expanded to cover 5 days of events. Each year focuses on a theme, initially on composers such as Mozart (1995) and Beethoven (1996), but since expanding to encompass subjects such as Tolstoy's Ivan Ilyich (2001).
The festival has expanded to other cities in Pays de la Loire, including Challans, Cholet, Fontenay-le-Comte, La Roche-sur-Yon, La Flèche, Sablé-sur-Sarthe, Saint Nazaire, Saumur, L'Île-d'Yeu and Fontevraud-l'Abbaye. Other cities have developed their own festivals based on the format of La Folle Journée, including Madrid, Bilbao, Tokyo and Rio de Janeiro.

Obama said it was mandatory that the 10 to 20 trillion dollar (with debt servicing) "stimulus" was passed right away or we are doomed - it was voted on and passed without those voting in the affirmative for it even reading it.
Once passed, the vast majority of the "stimulus" spending is deferred to 2010 which coincidentally is an election year for the politicians who voted for passage. An inference is that the only crisis was the socialists getting reelected after their policy of fascism failed to turn around the economy. A study of history will reveal their concern - no fascist/socialist enterprise has been successful at improving the quality of life for its citizens at any time in human history. No civilization has successfully taxed and spent its way out of a recession in the history of humanity.
Those who hold America's debt are frantically calling for a "world currency", knowing full well, that the certain forthcoming hyperinflation in America will significantly devalue the US Dollar and their investments will then be worth pennies on the dollar.
Now, Obama says that health care must be nationalized right away or we are doomed.
Now, Obama says that Sotomayor must be confirmed right away or we are doomed.
Now, Obama says that Cap and Trade (destroy and nationalize the energy sector) bill must be passed right away or we are doomed.
Now, Obama says that trillions of dollars of new taxes must be passed right away or we are doomed. These new taxes are on top of the trillions of dollars in new taxes that were already included in his "stimulus" bill and budget.
Is there a pattern? Does "we" refer to his constituents or perhaps himself and his political cronies?
No civilization has reversed a downward unemployment spiral by shrinking its private sector and growing its government bureaucracy.
The countries who have tried the fascist/socialist experiment are now moving back to more capitialistic free market policies - why? because shrinking their private sector and burdening it with increased government confiscatory/redistribution policies created misery in the form of unemployment, loss of individual freedom, lower quality of life and medical care rationing, shortages and misery.

wiki.answers.com/Q/Name_and_explain_two_effects_of_price_...
When thinking about price controls, think of the supply and demand curves and remember that with a price control, it is impossible for a price to get into equilibrium. With that in mind, we can identify two problems that result from this.
1. A shortage/oversupply of the good. If there is a price ceiling, you have a shortage (a la gasoline during the price controls of the 70's.) If there is a floor, you have overproduction (a la ethanol. Which, granted, is subsidized, but that is effectively like a price floor). *Note* also consider the housing markets where rent control is present.
2. An inefficient allocation of resources. With ethanol being subsidized, we witnessed a massive increase in the price of corn. The market did not want this, and thus we saw an inefficient allocation of resources.
Should National Health Care pass in this country, I will not know where or when I will die, but I will know how - substandard medical care, denial of care, lack of r&d due to price controls and rationing emposed by the government - all based on decisions by bureaucrats, actuaries, accountants and political appointees who I do not know and who do not know me or my specific needs or wishes ... and more importantly do not care ... they care only about passing the next government audit cycle for cost control.

I wonder when I'll be good enough...
*sigh* This is my "creative" photo for Day 8 of my 365.
I told you that stethoscope would be back =]
So, I slept until 1 in the afternoon today. I wanted to stay in bed all day and just.... I don't know, stay there?
My little sister wasn't home, so I had to clean the bathroom, kitchen and living room myself.
I don't mind it. I like to clean when I think or I'm stressed. Which I was both today.
I'm listening to "All The Same" by Sick Puppies. I'm kind addicted to this song. It's a good song to listen to if you're feeling the way I do right now.
"I don't mind where you come from
As long as you come to me.
I don't like illusions I can't see,
them clearly.
I don't care, no I wouldn't dare
To fix the twist in you.
You've shown me eventually,
What you'll do."
"And I'll take you for who you are
If you take me for everything..."
Anywho, my little sister is home now.... She wanted me to kill a bug for her. For being a used-to-be brown belt, she sure is a scardy-cat.
So I told her to do it herself.... She's using the vacuum. Go figure.
My mother and little sister went out to dinner with family friends tonight. It was pretty good...
Oh, and I weighed myself today. 136.8 pounds >.< That's 16.8 pounds heaver than what I want to be.
I'm still working on it.
My sister now has ANOTHER boyfriend.... Well, "boyfriend". She's confusing. But I love her. We tell each other everything.
Most things. Like 99%.
I'll never know some things about her, and vice verse.
She keeps talking about him. She knows I hate it when she does that. Kinda, showing off and bragging to me. She doesn't mean it though. I tell her. She knows how lonely I feel. How much I want "that someone".
So, it's 11.32 at night. Wow, the last time I looked at the clock, it was only 11.01.
I'll save my wish for another night.
Profile photo of Paul Sass, well known in the cage fighting circle for his ability to finish off his opponent with a (I think this is correct) rear naked choke.
Tonight is cage fighting night followed by me getting up early to watch the Formula One in Japan. I'm going to function so well on Sunday!
Filastrocca di Craco
Quattro bambini sul basamento,
Dietro, colline
arse dal vento
Dietro, colline
arse dal sole,
quattro bambini con tante parole:
Domande acute, perplessità...
che ci facciamo, seduti qua???
Niente fantasmi, solo salite
e tante case, abbandonate...
Buono il panino dice Diletta,
nella postura da "sciura" perfetta.
Carla dov'è? Cerca formiche,
intrappolate tra briciole e ortiche,
solo Giovanni e Leda Maria,
sembrano in vena di compagnia...
Quattro bambini sul basamento,
davanti, un gruppo in movimento
Davanti, il sole in pieno giorno
quattro bambini che sono ritorno.
Ritorno in terra, cuore, che brace!
Quattro bambini per fare la pace,
Fare la pace, in un secondo,
Claudia che scatta, ha visto un mondo.

Ver 1 : Mr.Kel
Ngày nào cũng phải lo cái - bữa đói ,bữa no
Ver 2 : Mr.Q
Cuộc sống là zì cuộc sống là chi
Chỉ làm cho em buồn lệ than ời bờ mi
Nhửng mảnh bánh mỳ ngày ngày trôi wa e chỉ an đc có vài mẩu
Thân e nhỏ nhưng y chí of e thật tuyệt vời
Chính điều nhỏ nhoi ấy sẽ jup’ e đón nhận 1 cuộc sống mới
Đời mà Time cứ trôi ko chờ 1 ai

The Struggle
by Begary
Have you ever traveled down a road to find there was no end
For every corner that you turned there was another bend
The faster that you walked, the longer that it seemed
And you were all alone, in this crazy dream
Crazy dreams that you dream alone
When the lights go out and no one's home
You see the day for what it's been
And you wish to God you could stay clean
The morning brings you to the road you didn't want to travel
and every step you take again makes your life unravel
You keep on walking down the path, wondering what you'll find,
and pray that when you find it you wont have lost your mind
It's halfway through another day and you're looking for those dreams
knowing they can make your life better than it seems
If only to forget your pain for a little while
you can travel down the road just another mile
The night is now upon you, the miles are on your face,
But you keep going forward to your final place.
You know the end is coming soon, you see it straight ahead
And if they don't forget you, you never will be dead

Stained glass windows by Károly Kernstok (Budapest, 1873 - 1940)
www.google.hu/search?q=kernstok+k%C3%A1roly&hl=hu&...
One of Hungary's most influential early twentieth century artists, Karoly Kernstok first studied painting techniques at the Budapest School of Design. He then went to Munich in 1892 to study under Simon Hollosy. Karoly Kernstok concluded his formal education at the Academie Julian, Paris, from 1893 to 1895 and at Benczur's School, Budapest, from 1896 to 1899. Kernstok's first major exhibitions took place in Budapest in 1897. Three years later one of his paintings was awarded a bronze medal at the Universal Exposition in the United States.
Karoly Kernstok's initial works were figure studies and genre depictions, largely in the vein of Hungarian turn-of-the-century early social realist painting. By 1906, however, his art began exploring stylized elements and postimpressionist techniques, and thus he became a leading exponent of modernism. In 1910, Karoly Kernstok was a founding member of the Nyolcak (Group of Eight) painters. Briefly this important movement advocated expressionism and an emphasis upon the body within space. It drew upon such divergent forms as Art Nouveau, Fauvism and native Hungarian art forms. The Nyolcak was also somewhat political and, through the art of its participants, attempted to move Habsburg Hungary toward a democratic republic. Karoly Kernstok's 1910 painting, Riders on the Shore, became a major catalyst for the art of Nyolcak (Group of Eight). During this period, Karoly Kernstok designed and painted major frescoes and glass windows for the Schiffer-villa (1911) and the County Hall, Debrecen.
Karoly Kernstok moved to Berlin in 1919. He both lived and exhibited in that city until his 1926 return to Hungary. For the following fourteen years the artist continued to paint and etch major works of art, often exploring and incorporating elements of ancient Etruscan art. As well, Karoly Kernstok established an art school in the Nyergesújfalu region of Hungary.
Today the art of Karoly Kernstok is found in most major Hungarian collections, including the Hungarian National Gallery, Budapest

This is a shot I made while doing the Jarsulic family photos last weekend. This was entirely Erin's, my coworker and the woman in the photo from the other day, idea. Situated at "la Pointe-à-Jacquot", this beautiful building of the neo-gothic revival style is still a gathering point for the Acadian community of Bouctouche.
Formerly the Convent of the Immaculate Conception, it played an important role in the Acadian renaissance. The Museum offers an insight into life at a boarding school in the 19th and 20th century and gives an overview of the regional way of life. Its Chapel has been recognized as an architectural gem.
History
Marguerite Maillet, a teacher, donated a 40-acre piece of land for the construction of a convent. Soon afterwards, she becomes a nun with the Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception (SCIC) and takes the name of Sister Marie-Julienne. In 1892, she is named Sister Superior at the Bouctouche convent, a position she will hold until her death in 1911.

It's not just the bears that get big in Alaska! This red squirrel weighs between 400-800 - grams that is. :-)
Thought that I would have a little fun with this one...
On our recent trip, we decided to take a jet boat ride out to the Knik Glacier. The Knik is one of the largest glaciers in SC AK, 28 mi long and 5 mi across. We had never visited there yet, so thought we would see it this year.
While we were there at the glacial camp, we could see a bear WAY up on a distance mountain, foraging on the vegetation. Other than that, we didn't really see too much, as we sat around and shared stories with our fellow tour passengers. They gave us hot chocolate and trail mix, which was really nice since it really was a cold and dreary afternoon.
At one point, as we sat at the camp, we heard a thunder, which could only mean one thing.... calving of the glacier. We all ran to see it. An iceberg split in half and revealed itself to us - the most beautiful color of blue ever (will share that photo on a later post). As we retreated to the camp area, we noticed that a thief had been in our area. It was our little red squirrel, who was none too shy and would allow me to get as close as I wanted to him.
I have to admit, when I looked at those beady eyes and his quick movements, I was a bit scared being all in it's face. LOL
Sometimes when visiting a state known for it's wildlife, you learn to take what you get, and so, I share this one with you all. But honestly, on our way to the tour headquarters cabin, we did see several moose crossing the road and numerous birds soaring overhead.
Thanks so much for your views and your comments!

Here's to hoping those in Japan make their way through the tough days ahead.

Sometimes you'll hear someone called a "Renaissance man." That means he's a man of many interests, gifts and pursuits - skilled in many areas. If there is such a thing as a "Renaissance boy," I think our five-year-old grandson might be one. He's interested in so many things - and actually, he's good in a lot of them. To round out the other areas of his life, he recently got involved in a soccer league for kids his age. Which makes his mother a "soccer mom," I guess. Which means everybody wants her vote. Right? Well, our grandson didn't have the benefit of having an older sibling to learn from as some other members of his little team did. The soccer learning curve for him was a little steep, but he's been doing well. But something really special happened in one of the last games of the season. The team's two little stars came late - players who the others tend to lean on. But they weren't there to lean on. Now it was clearly up to kids who were usually in the shadow of those stars. Well, our favorite soccer player really stepped up. Suddenly, he was more focused, more aggressive than he'd been all season - and right away he scored two goals for his team, and they won that night.
guess our grandson looked around and said, "Well, if it is to be, it's up to me!" And suddenly he stepped up to make a difference like he'd never made before. It may be that time in the game for you right now - time to step up and really make a difference.
You've got a great example to follow in our word for today from the Word of God in 1 Samuel 17, beginning with verse 23. The Israelis and Philistines are lined up facing one another on opposite sides of a valley. Every day the Philistine giant comes out and he challenges the Israelites to send out a man to fight him, with the people of the loser serving the people of the winner from that day on. Young David, the youngest brother in his family, arrives to bring food to his warrior brothers just as Goliath is coming out to issue his challenge for the fortieth day in a row.
The Bible says, "Goliath ... shouted his usual defiance, and David heard it. When the Israelites saw the man, they all ran from him in great fear ... David said to Saul, 'Let no one lose heart on account of this Philistine; your servant will go and fight him.'" None of the big varsity players in their nice uniforms will get in the game - so the kid does, with just a slingshot. He doesn't have the training the others do, he doesn't have the experience, he doesn't have the weapons, but he's willing to step up because he believes, as he tells Goliath, "The battle is the Lord's." And Goliath went down because an unlikely, seemingly unqualified, hero stepped up.
This is a time when the Goliaths of hell are holding the field all around us. Not because the darkness is so strong, but because no one will step up and fight the battles. Right now God is summoning you, as unlikely and unqualified as you may feel, to get out of the shadows and onto the front lines. Someone has to take that assignment no one else is rising to. Someone needs to step up and change the atmosphere in your church, or in your school, or in your home, or where you work. Someone has to fight for your marriage. Someone has to be the one to confront what's wrong, to bring people together, to lead a prayer effort, to talk about Jesus.
In Isaiah's day when God asked, "Who will go for us?" Isaiah answered, "Here am I, send me" (Isaiah 6:8). Maybe you've been holding back saying, "Here am I, send him." But God is summoning you to step up for this one - like our grandson on that soccer field, making a greater difference than he'd ever made before because he knew it was up to him this time! And this assignment from God is up to you - even if there are defiant giants standing in the way. It's your time to shine, and you will, because the battle is the Lord's!

Ballygluin is now best remembered as the station in the opening scene of John Fordes Irish epic “The Quiet Man”. Ballygluin posed as “Castletown” station as a bemused John Wayne steps from the train, enquiring from curious locals for the way to his ancestorial home of “Innisfree” in the 1952 academy award winning movie.
Ballygluin was opened as part of the Athenry and Tuam Railway in 1860. Ballygluin was also part of the long straggling route of the Waterford, Limerick & Western Railway. The station saw it’s last regular trains in 1975, Part of this 185Km line (Limerick to Athenry) is due to reopen this year after a multi-million euro refurbishment, when it’s the turn of Athenry to Collooney section is now anybody’s guess. The Badshahi Mosque in Lahore at dusk. The telltale Mughal architecture and the magnificent domes that accompany it makes this the most beautiful mosque I've had the pleasure of visiting. The mood was very relaxed and as we wandered around waiting for a well-timed dusk photo session we were treated to a well-sung call to prayer (not always the case), the evening prayer itself presenting photo ops.
I'm going to Damascus in January and one of the photo projects is the Umayyad Mosque, a worthy contender to runner-up.
