This one is from the same series as my "Entropy" photo.

A glass of water, blue background, stirred the water with a spoon and took a shot. The result is 180 deg. rotated.

Strobist info: Sony F42 camera right, shooting diagonal through blue plastic background. Triggered by camera commander flash.

It seems so long ago now

That I was sitting here

Taking in everything

Taking in everything

I stopped to look around me

As far as I could see

Across this precious land

Shadows painted by the sun

I don't think I remember

How long I waited here

Watching everything

Watching everything

My thoughts began to wander

Then I realized

Every moment I had lived

Everything that I had seen

Pass like this moment now

Pass like this moment now

Its clear to me as now

Is the moment when I knew

That I can let go

Its time to let it go

With it came the feeling

Strange I'd waited for it

I think all my life

A thousand words brace for it

From my very soul I didn't feel alone.

standing watch until the sun will rise

I can't, I can't see this all as progress

how did we come this far?

when we see ourselves as deities

claim nature for ourselves

by our actions we betray the instincts in our race

by our blindness and stupidity we kill everything

we kill everything

can someone see our self destruction?

are we reminding ourselves that our existence is so delicate

that without this light we are no more

that without this light we've made we are no more

a million points of light

ascending to the sky

monuments in darkness

standing watch

until the sun will rise

we torch the earth until it bleeds

rain ashes from the sky

just to make a light that no one can see

we cut the earth until it bleeds

just to make a light that no one can see

just to make a light

we kill everything

by our blindness and stupidity

we kill everything

and in a thousand years what will be our legacy?

Lights and shadows in architecture is one of the thing that fI find more fascinating.

I wish to dedicate this shot (a very .. fresh! one - just taken on the way back home from work :-) - to all the photographers who are making my new group - urbanabstractions - a great one! (well, may be I shouldn't say it, but ... I'm so happy about it, so, please, forgive me! ;-D)

Thank you very, very much, and .. keep on posting!

btw - the horizontal line in the shot is an electric string - I was going to remove it, but then I found that somehow it could fit the composition ...

Last, but .. not least!:

what music fits architecture?

this is a very interesting new topic posted by daruma* in urbanabstractions discussions;

he proposed this one:

Zbigniew Preisner - L'Aurore - what is your favourite one?

.................................................................................

They are very late this year..!

it was much too cold during the month of March and in this month of April it continues with more rain and a big lack of sunshine..! (to wonder where global warming is)

This is a photo that is 8 years old already..

With the hot summer we all want to escape somewhere quiet and possibly "fresh" ... for me blue of course! This is a beautiful bay protected by the Arrabida mountains (Serra), a natural park very beautiful and full of tranquility (much needed) - I hope you enjoy it and have a great week!

Altezza del fiore: da 5 a 20 centimetri.

Periodo di fioritura: Marzo-Maggio/Agosto-Ottobre.

Caratteristiche: fiori su peduncoli biancastri, senza foglie.

Descrizione: fiori solitari, 6 stami, 3 stili.

I have literally hundreds of hummingbird images as well as hundreds of flower images. In an effort to try to utilize some of the archived photos taking up my harddrive, I thought I'd try to combine the two.

Through the texture and layer process I used two photos and one texture as shown below.

1. Lupine photo taken this spring at Thomes Creek outside Corning, California

2. aubergine texture from www.flickr.com/photos/alicepopkorn/sets/72157605289948031/

3. Edited Anna's Hummingbird photo.

Here you see the "Se de Lisboa" the ancient cathedral of Lisbon, built upon an old Mosque just after Lisbon was conquered from the Moors in the 12th century A.C. by the english crusader Gilbert de Hastings; the title I gave to this photo is because this monument (today a mixture of many styles) has survived 3 earthquakes - even the big one of 1755. This is a typical view of the bright colours of the city and its amazing light, mixing old and new - this unique combination of styles and colours makes Lisbon a most attractive city to visit.

Do enjoy and have a great weekend!
