I love doing these little doddles! Despite my outfit being heavily black and grey, I wasn't feeling sad at all today - until I came home and switched in the news,

I am usually a very orderly scrapbooker and cardmaker and in the past my layouts have always been very structured. I love how this art journal is allowing me to be the exact opposite of that! Oh... and the page is deliberately upside down in my journal (makes me giggle!)

Day 1
Inspiration : White
[The background story]
I love white space. I love using white as a background for my pages. But sometimes, a pop of color is in order.
Journaling reads:
"My gallery-style wall in the living room is still in the works. The wall behind it is canton purple. "It'll be too bold" they said. "It'll be too dark" they said. At least it isn't your everyday-run of the mill, museum quality white. I love it. May 1. 2013"
Supplies used:
Cardstock: Georgia Pacific [white], Papertrey Ink [royal velvet]
Patterned paper: Papertrey Ink [True Black stripes, Royal Velvet bitty dots, Royal Velvet polka dots, Soft Stone polka dots, Soft Stone bitty dots]
Die cut: Papertrey Ink
Stamps: Papertrey Ink [Birthday Style]
Letter stickers: Doodlebug
Circle punch: Fiskars
Ink: Papertrey Ink [Royal Velvet]
Washi Tape: Pebbles, Inc.
Adhesive: Darice [pop dots], Scotch
Pen: Staedtler

Day 19
I decided not to follow the prompt today as I struggled with it. Took my own direction.
The black-looking circular panel on the left is actually a mirrored ribbon that is very silver and reflective, it just doesn't scan well.
Journaling reads:
"It's good to be negative.
One great thing I got from my Dad is his blood type. I'm O- which in the blood world is pretty much the best. I'm a universal donor so my blood is always in high demand. I donated for the first time back in high school & I knew right away it would be something I'd do as often as I could. Since I occasionally have super low Iron counts, I started taking an extra dose of Iron with my vitamins.
On Saturday I headed to the Wickliffe Community Center for my appointment - only to find I'd be donating on the BloodMobile. I read the informational packet as I waited my turn, then got screened & the okay to donate. Once the needle was in, it was a quick & painless 10 minutes ... ending with a rewarding diet coke & feeling good!"

Patterned paper: Doodlebug [red], Papertrey Ink [black, stone]
Letter stickers: Doodlebug
Brads: Making Memories
Ribbon: unknown
Adhesive: Darice [pop dots], Scotch

Trying to scrap again. I really do love paper more than digital. I love piecing together lots of different patterned papers.
i'm trying to conquer my fears about "real" scrapbooking. this is the raw materials for my project. . . . here goes.
This is a 6x12 layout that is going into a mini book about our recent trip to Maine.
Journaling: "Divine - Full Circle Moment - September 2011: We had been the only ones on Precipice Trail since we started out so early & were the first in the parking lot & then just as we came to this spot, an older man appeared out of notwhere and offered to take our picture - Here! This moment was so powerful for me. We came upon the very same rock that my Dad and I sat on when I was your age and I realized that this climb was a full circle moment - I was completing a journey that I started when I was a girl. I was conquering a fear and saying goodbye to my late Dad and Hello to the young man my son is becoming."
I seriously had quite a moment - but Mac didn't let me sit long and linger over it - he knows I'm prone to getting sappy - he was all about getting up that mountain - looking forward - not back. I learned a lot from my son on this trek and resolved lots of feelings that I hadn't planned on addressing but am so glad that we took this hike. It was the closest thing I've come to a funeral for my Dad - since I wasn't able to go to the actual one since I was 8 months pregnant with my daughter and couldn't fly; and the closest thing I can imagine what parents feel at a bar mitzvah or coming of age for their son ceremony. The whole experience was awesome and I'll never forget it.
Challenge: To use a variety of patterned papers on one layout.
well, uh ... i sort of love paper and words like
a quilter or seamstress loves fabric and thread!
...so - this is a group of cards in a clear display --
these pretty much all sold at a craft show last year.
gearing up again for some upcoming shows!

I scrapped my Project 365 photo from the Ladies Night dinner this month. The colors in the sign & awning inspired my paper color selection. I based the design idea on the sketch on page 84 of the Scrapbooks Etc April 2009 issue and the Two Peas weekly challenge to create a cluster.
Supplies: Archiver's cardstock; American Crafts patterned paper; KI Memories lace paper; My Mind's Eye flower die cut; Maya Road chipboard figure; Making Memories brad & chipboard 'L'; Imagination Project coaster; Micron black pen; Prima flower; Autumn Leaves button; Heidi Swapp chipboard letters; white paint.
Prompt 5: I'm a total newbie to blogging and am still 'struggling' to get my own up and running :( BUT I love taking time to explore - i don't have a long list, but it's growing ......!
The right side of my two page spread for LOAD 511.
Journaling reads:
"There has always been something amazing to me about the way musical artists can write songs that so perfectly relate to my life. A dear friend gave me the idea to create a "soundtrack of my life" featuring new songs each month. It's a beautiful thing.
I love to listen to the words-they often get stuck in my head & I often quote them. Music is always on around me and unless I'm at work, it's country. My itunes library is packed with my favorites-Kenny, Zac Brown, Toby and so many more. Here are some of my most recent favorites:
"Cause if you don't know where you're going-you might end up somewhere else" --Toby Keith. "thank God for all I missed-'cause it led me here to this" --Darius Rucker. "I'm at these crossroads in my life..." --Kenny Chesney"
