First LO of our new kitty, Molly. Journaling is under the two 4x6" photos: 'We got Molly at the MontCo SPCA the week before Gary's Easter Break from Martin Luther School. When we went into the cat room, she was the only kitty to respond to us with any enthusiasm. Right away, she began 'talking' to us, and stuck her paw out of the cage to

reach for us.

When they took her out of the cage for us we were struck by how BIG she is. (13 lbs, 7 oz by the scale at PetSmart!) We have never had a kitty this big; Butch was an average size tom, and Amelia was quite petite. But when Molly immediately started rubbing up against us,asking for some love, we knew we'd found our new fur-friend.

They told us Molly had been adopted once, but had fought with another cat in that family and had to be returned to the shelter. Since she was going to be an 'only cat'with us, we knew that wasn't going to be a problem at our house.

When we brought Molly home, she marked everything she could by rubbing her cheeks on things. She was surprised the first time she jumped on the waterbed, but joined us there the very first night. She almost demanded attention, with her loud Mrrrrr-ow! and a head butt if necessary, and monopolized laps for the first few days. She has been exploring every nook and cranny of the apartment.

The only tough spot we had was getting her to eat. She didn't like the food we'd bought, and let us know in no uncertain terms. The staff at the SPCA didn't know what she was used to, either. So we did some trial and error and settled on canned food with gravy in it, and dry Frisky's, mixed together. This seems to meet with her approval.

Now she sits on window sills and watches the birds, or lays on the back of the couch while Gary watches t.v. We will show her the kitty door in a little while, but for now she must be an indoor cat. - April 2014'

The pumpkins for this card were made using 140# cold-pressed watercolor paper. I got out my non-stick craft sheet, and sprayed Spun Sugar Glimmer Mist directly onto the craft sheet. Then I added water from a mini-mister, to thin it out a bit. I dipped the watercolor paper in, turned it over, and dried it with my Heat It Craft Tool (heat gun). I did this multiple times until I got the effect I wanted.

Next, I stamped Hero Arts F5270 Traditional Pumpkin (the shorter one) and G5269 Tall Pumpkin (the taller one) using VersaFine onyx black pigment ink. Once the ink was dry, I cut out the pumpkins. I used a green glitter gel pen from Sakura to color in the stems and add the tendrils. (See a close-up of a pumpkin.)

I made the ruffled from patterned paper covered with autumn leaves (unknown source). Green metallic staples from Making Memories. Card base is Bazzill Carob Cream (chocolate brown) cardstock. "Best wishes" sentiment from Hero Arts CL371 Essential Messages. I stamped the sentiment using VersaMark watermark ink and heat embossed with Stampendous sunny yellow pastel embossing powder.

Part of my inspiration for this card was the Day 3 prompt in my friend Christy's (Gulfsprite's) 30 Days of Art Journaling class.

Thanks for looking! :-)

Getting this in today for 5 item Friday. Used all 5 patterned papers, but added a border punch, a journaling block, some bling and 2 types of title letters. Wanted to love this, so had to keep adding items until I was satisfied. Copied the title off another LOADster...so thank you for the inspiration!!

I adore that old cabinet that my dad painted and distressed.

I am one of those people who really enjoy Christmas. I enjoy it for many reasons, not least of all because I get to give gifts I have gathered throughout the year to my family and friends.

I shop for gifts all year around, and then hide them in places about the house where my partner won't find them (if they are for him) and in places out of the way for other recipients who might be visiting.

In the lead up to Christmas, my dining room becomes a wonderland of Christmas wrapping and trimmings which I joking call the Christmas Wrapping Bureau, as I usually end up wrapping all my partner's presents, and potentially my aged mother-in-law's gifts as well as my own. However another reason I like Christmas is that I love wrapping gifts, playing with ribbons and bright paper.

They are all done and are nestled under my tree, ready for Christmas Day!

I found three leftover photos I had printed sometime in November, together with a bunch of others. The others were used for some project or another, and these were left. Now that I found them I realised that they show and symbolize a whole year and that's what this mini is about. Patterned papers, printed photos, pens, needle and thread.

I am entering this into this months Die Cut Diva's Challenge die-cut-divas.blogspot.co.nz/ to use a die cut or embossing folder with a celebrate theme. A card born out of a die cut gone wrong. Well it didn't cut as well as It was suppose to.

Anyway I still wanted to use this as it gave a dramatic effect to this card by only having part of the die cut showing against the red cardstock.

Colors in this pp reminded me of the pretty handmade quilt that was given to A, on which she sat beneath the fall trees with her family. I colored the stamens yellow with glitter glue and fussy cut several of the flowers, popping them up on foam sticker dots. The last of the fussy cut flowers is the journal spot, tucked under the photo of A. I asked her mom to tell me about the quilt so I could document it there - who made it, the occasion on which A got it, etc. I think A, and others coming after her, will be interested in where such a beautiful item came from. i distressed the edges of the LO - thinking of the wear that years can bring to an heirloom like this quilt.
