A little page I made while guest designing for the lovely 'Up the Street Scrapbooking' in July. :) The July kit - 'Homespun Appeal' is so full of fun vintage-inspired goodness!

Another set of ATC's for a swap.

I am one of those people who really enjoy Christmas. I enjoy it for many reasons, not least of all because I get to give gifts I have gathered throughout the year to my family and friends.

I shop for gifts all year around, and then hide them in places about the house where my partner won't find them (if they are for him) and in places out of the way for other recipients who might be visiting.

In the lead up to Christmas, my dining room becomes a wonderland of Christmas wrapping and trimmings which I joking call the Christmas Wrapping Bureau, as I usually end up wrapping all my partner's presents, and potentially my aged mother-in-law's gifts as well as my own. However another reason I like Christmas is that I love wrapping gifts, playing with ribbons and bright paper.

They are all done and are nestled under my tree, ready for Christmas Day!

Janel's new journal challenge looks so fun. After I altered my moleskin with lace and fabric, I tore out some of the pages inside and replaced them with my own, handmade pages. I colour photocopied some of my favourite fabric swatches and made them into double-sided pages! I'm gonna gesso some of the other pages but other than that - I'm ready to go!!

The terms "scraplifting" or "stamplifting" are used to describe the shameless copying of someone else's scrapping or stamping designs. I don't do it very often, but when I saw a fall card made by my friend Lin (aka Quilterlin), I just had to. I couldn't help myself!

So, Lin, this card is an homage to you. I love your cards!

Materials used:

* cardstock: tan, purple, cream, orange, burnt orange, and red

* Cuttlebug and Divine Swirls embossing folder

* Hero Arts CL119 Happy Thanksgiving stamp set

* patterned paper

* velvet ribbon

* VersaFine Vintage Sepia ink

For more details, please see my blog, Gaal Creative.

Special thanks to Lin for her cards which are always so inspirational to me.

And, thanks for looking!

I made a series of cards using Patterned Paper and a similar design. This one used some papers from a Vintage pack. All needed was to add a teeny stamped sentiment.

I custom made this rack

In our first week, we stayed at a beautiful B&B in Inverary, only to be TOLD (not so politely,) that the front doors would be locked at precisely 11pm and we would not be given a key. The local pubs and eating places are at least 10 -15 minutes away by car - so an early night it was then!!!

Created for the Lawn Fawn & Operation Write Home Challenge.

I made this card for the Hero Arts Challenge of this month: "Try something new".

The frame you see here, I bought a while ago and never used it so far. So, this frame is new to me.

And also I used Hero Arts suggested colors: Cantaloupe, soft olive, pool and wet cement.

A few weeks ago, when it was sunny (!) I took my art stuff into the yard to work on my journal. This tiny space kept catching my attention and everytime it did, my mind wandered to happy things!

I created this card by following the current sketch at Mojo Monday (sketch #227 by Debbie Carriere)

the papers I used on this card are from Bo Bunny's Welcome Home Collection (6x6 paper pad)

all stamps are by Hero Arts from the 'You & Me' clear stamp set and 'Wish Big' clear stamp set

This one was difficult for me as I don't really "do" digi, and I didn't have that snazzy Fiskars punch Lain showed us...so, I resorted to using my 1/4" square punch and lined up my photos alongside two individual borders to make it look like a filmstrip. These pictures were taken last night for my 40th bday dinner...talk about scrapping current pics!

FYI: the background is a light pink...not sure why it's showing up with a bluish tint...

Journaling Reads:

"This past summer I was lucky enough to be caller number nine at WGAR and I won 2 passes to get on Justin Moore's tour bus. It was one of the hottest days of the summer so the air conditioning felt amazing. I took Jon as my guest since we both had the country mega ticket. Justin was awesome-very laid back and down to Earth. He sang us a song off his upcoming album as well as "Grandpa". He is super short in real life! When he got on stage he rocked out singing all his popular tunes and he made fun of Lebron as he sang "I could kick your ass!" He was on tour with Darius Rucker and Brad Paisley. This was by far one of my favorite concerts of the summer. Pretty sure I'll stay a Justin Moore fan. :) Concert: July 23. 2010. Layout: January 2011"

My aunt just graduated from med school, and I am so proud of her. She is now a doctor, so I used the white coat as inspiration for this card. I used pattern paper for the shirt underneath and as a mat for the nametag. I wanted something feminine (hence the pink and the subtle heart pattern), but not overly girly or childish.

I'm entering this card in the latest Lawnscaping Challenge because I couldn't resist using patterned paper!

The left side of my 2 page spread for a circle journal I've been involved in.

The theme was "favorite books".

Journaling reads:

"I fell in love with reading at a very young age. I became a "series" kid-reading every book by one author. The American Girl books, the Goosebumps books, the Boxcar Children. I loved them all. To this day, this continues. Some of my recent favorites include the "Wicked" books, the "Twilight" series [yes I gave in to the hype and read them.] I got into Harry Potter and still enjoy the poetry of Shel Silverstein.

My most favorite book is "A Million Little Pieces". Luckily, I read this book before all the controversy came out about how the author, James Frey, embellished parts of the story. I read it as it was written and it truly changed my life - and the way I view the world. I can't really explain it, but it's a book I highly recommend.

Art books, magazines and creative idea books are another group of favorites. I have three shelves filled with a variety of colorful books loaded with challenges, ideas, and inspiration. Whenever I get stuck, I turn to these books to get me out of my rut. It works every single time!

While there is no hard cover or spine, I also love to read on the internet. Creative and designer blogs, how-to websites-you name it. There is so much to learn and I love that.

I love to read. Period.

Day 6

Inspiration : Red Herring

[The background story]

When I watched the video and got the prompt for today, I was completely stumped. I thought about it all day long and decided to use the red from the prompt as a main color on my page. I'm not a huge fan of red so it was a little challenging for me, but since there's so much green in my photos, I actually think it works.

Also, it's VERY unlike me to have crooked journaling, but it's straight on the lines of the patterned paper and I purposely put it on an angle to match the photos, so I'll have to live with it.

Journaling reads:

"I'm a crafty person so when I was in LOWES & passed by all the pretty flowers & plants, I couldn't help but think, "well that could be fun". With some guidance from the parental unit, I loaded a cart full of colorful goodness & added 2 new chairs to the mix. I've got a couple strawberry plants in cinder blocks, some green & red peppers, jalepenos & seranos for Jon & a little cilantro...plus a bunch of colorful plants. An afternoon of soil & sun & I'm on my way! 6 May 2013"

Supplies used:

Cardstock: Papertrey Ink [summer sunrise]

Patterned Paper: Papertrey Ink [pure poppy red floral], Studio Calico [green grid], My Mind's Eye [tan grid]

Letter stickers: Making Memories

Washi Tape: We R Memory Keepers [black], Anthropologie [orange]

I've never really loved birds - until recently! The first evening in our Scottish cottage-in-the-middle-of-nowhere kind of changed that tho! The garden was full of gorgeous little birds busying themselves with bug catching - I think I stood watching them for at least half an hour!!!

It rained non stop last night but it cleared the air and was very relaxing to watch!

The flower is made with layers of MMY patterned paper and foam tape On the largest layer, I filled in the circles with Copics, then highlighted the circles with Crystal Effects, What a yummy flower stamp to play with!!
