This was a test to see if I could make a crazy patchwork cushion from odds and ends of vintage hand embroidered fabrics.
It's not usually my style but I loved having a go.

I’m making a Swoon quilt with only one super big block (80” x 80” + border). It’s for a gift for one of my best friends and purple is her favorite color. I wanted to use this fabrics I bought ages ago which I loved at the moment but I’m not so in love right now.
I wanted to make it scrappy just like Katy/Ginger Monkey has done in hers (that would allow me to use all the different fabrics) and because I really loved her blocks.
Last night I laid it over the bed and didn’t like it very much. Too loud/busy? Too many different fabrics that don’t match? Perhaps I’m already fed up with the fabrics?
I thought perhaps I should unsew some HST and try to get each flame/ray in just one kind of fabric…
What do you think? Do you like it as it is? Is it horrible and should unsew?
Thanks for your help/comments.
Five hours of quilting straight lines - DONE!
Very pleased with the thing so far. I used a variegated 100% cotton thread that went from dark red to pale pink, which I think is really effective on this particular quilt.
I was so excited to receive this stunning mini from Pattiann. Freshley Squeezed in tangy citrus colours. Absolutely love it. Pattiann has done a stunning job with this, looks even better in real life. Love the shadow quilting too.
Hi, my purse is 100% handstitched. This is based on Japanese patchwork. The concept is very different from Western patchwork design which uses very bright and colorful color combinations. This may be something quite new to a lof of patchwork experts like you. The fabrics used are called "sakizome". Hope this is a new thing to share with you. Enjoy !
