my first finished quilt of the year
for a friend's daughter
finished size 42" x 48"
named by susan (sulu-design)
Não me pergunte!
inspired by Jolene's lovely quilt: blueelephantstitches.blogspot.ca/2012/11/pixelated.html

a bit of comfort for cold toes in the kitchen! all washed up and rumply, and in the mail today!
also... i say this every time, but the thrill of pulling a quilt from the dryer? never. gets. old. :)
made mom a little patchwork drawstring pouch as wrapping for the sack of my favorite coffee i gave her for her birthday. i'm glad that she still appreciates a little handmade present from her daughter; 'least i've moved on from the painted macaroni necklaces.
{ happy birthday mom! }
Made for my daughter's birthday.
Embroidery pattern taken from this lovely .
finished up the 20 blocks that Blue Elephant Stitches did in hers and i''m feeling.... pretty d.a.r.n. good about it!!
now for the sashing and hand quilting part! bring it, i say!! hahahaha....
I am trying to study the ways of the Gee's Bend quilters, the way they put colors and patterns together and used traditional blocks (like the log cabin) but didn't do anything symmetrically. This'll end up as a pillow.
16" x 16", zipper closure, using Mary's tutorial: mollyflanders.blogspot.com/2011/10/rolling-onfreezer-pape...
machine pieced and machine quilted w/ straight line quilting
approx. 32" x 43"
I'm pretty happy with the way this turned out except I think I am going to stop using shot cottons in my patchwork. I love the way they look, but regular solids perform much better in quilts. Other than that, yay!
Inspirado em um projeto da Marília Salomão(sou sua fã!!!) mas com algumas adaptações divertidas. Vejam nas outras fotos abaixo os detalhes.

I am dangerously close to becoming obsessed with zippy pouches!
PS - I've been using fusible fleece in these pouches, my favorite!
when we last left le clown vomit (last March--a year ago!!), it was 12 blocks big + i was hoping to make a total of 24 . . .
well, i eked out another 8 blocks for a total of 20, when i ran out of the solid red kona cotton. a year later, having still not gotten any more red, i decided to assemble the blocks i had into a smallish quilt top measuring 58" x 70". this thing ate up *A TON* of scraps!
and would you think me insane if i told you that i had already started another one? i wanted one that is lighter in tone, so i started another in less primary/jewel tone colors + more pastel-y springtime colors. i've already got 36 blocks done!! did i mention that i am obsessed with making these blocks??
I'm knocking some projects off my to do list (which will include two bee blocks I am behind on!) while I have a few days off work. This is another project by Ayumi out of the Summer 2011 Stitch mag. I love the colors she used for her mat, so I pretty much copied it exactly. I think Fozzy will like it!
A mix from One Block Over bee and ones I've sewn. Time to add some lighter X parts and darker backgrounds, I think.
For the Brits amongst us. I used the Quiltville tutorial but printer paper in the UK is NOT 8.5" wide. Good job i measured it before i started. I used the TV mag instead.
Another sneaky peek of a WIP that might end up in the DQS10
Sorry about the light and the lack of an iron before I took this snap. It's still a WIP but how do you feel about mini crazy patchwork partner?
Of course with everything I'm working on I may go back to the drawing board and start all over again...
