Not so 'Fishy' Mug Rug! Full explanation on my blog!

After giving the smaller test cushion a go I felt more confident making this cushion for someone who wanted to use her father's vintage embroidered fabrics.

I used some reclaimed linen and vintage mother of pearl buttons for the back.

random patchwork, zigzag quilting along seams

All finished. This was actually an entirely straight forward project, and involved no quilting whatsoever. I just made a patchwork top, stitched it right sides together to some pink minky, turned it the right way out and (rather wonkily) top stitched around the edge. I may well finish all my patchwork like this in future.

My finished top! Mostly made with fabrics from a Fabric Worm custom bundle, with others from my stash mixed in.

Decorative brick garden paths are the inspiration for Herringbone Patchwork. Students will learn how to master “partial seam” construction. Two different designs using this unique, skill-building technique will be explored - an easy, pinwheel-style block and the woven-look Herringbone. This gorgeous patchwork is an ideal project for using 2 1/2” pre-cut strips, and is also a lovely way to use some of your favourite scraps.
