Ex. Corris Railway No.3 is seen passing the waterfall between Abergynolwyn and Nant Gwernol on the Talyllyn Railway with a short freight on 18 March 2019.

The Union Pacific local that works between Columbus and Grand Island passes an old elevator west of Silver Creek. I don't remember when this elevator was in operation, probably being worked by a local like this one, but I am old enough to remember when standard cab EMDs would've been the norm on the Overland Route, there was a center siding here, and the two mains were operated with directional running and ABS. It was nice to get at least a little glimpse of that past at the end of 2023.

One of the things that I both like and do not understand about Moscow is that it's like a fashion show on the street, in spite of any practicality considerations...

An improvised home/cabin tells us the passing state of all that surrounds us, even our homes.

Michael and Eileen Hudson revived the South Yorkshire Motors name and livery for a short-lived operation around Pontefract. K382 RTY is leaving Wakefield Bus Station on service 143 to Knottingley. It is a 9.8 metre Dennis Dart with Wright Handybus bodywork, new in 1993 as Gateshead & District 8082. It later found its way to CMT, Liverpool (no. 2094), passing to Glenvale Transport before coming to South Yorkshire.

One of my favorite things to do is to bike across the Lions Gate Bridge to either West or North Vancouver. The view on the bridge is amazing. Depending which side you are on, you can see Stanley Park, North Vancouver, and West Vancouver. As a tourist, I highly recommend biking along Lions Gate Bridge.

Back in the days, I could see many cruises passing by. But now, they cannot dock in Vancouver until further notice.

1H45, the 1255 Moor Street - Marylebone passes Anyho Junction, propelled by an unidentified class 68. The Oxford Canal is on the right, as the line continues towards London the closer of the two Souldern Viaducts can be seen, the second just glimpsed beyond.

Used Ghostbones texture for the background and combined 8 photos to produce the image. Best viewed large.

This is just a quick post to share a link to a stunning short video by the film maker Mike Olbinski, currently posting on the Vimeo website. It's called 'Pulse' and when you see it you'll understand why, it's essentially a B/W four minute film showing various awesome (one of the few times that overused word is justified) and very powerful storm systems moving across wide open landscapes...and my words just don't do it justice, and as anyone who knows me, I'm a cloud junkie, so you may think I'm biased...but trust me, go see it! Now! And as it's in HD make sure you watch it full screen, it's 4 minutes and 30 seconds of your time in which to have your mind blown, virtually every frame would make an incredible still photo to hang on your wall. And you won't be wasting another 4 minutes if you read his commentary after watching the film, he explains how he made it, why he chose the music to accompany it (it's hauntingly beautiful and complements the film to perfection) and, more importantly from my pov as a primarily B/W photographer, why he chose to shoot it in B/W. Watching the film has the same effect on me that looking at the truly astonishing images from the Hubble telescope does...being humbled and awe inspired by Nature, she really does know how to show off while putting us in our places!

Strangely, I saw Pulse just after I posted this image a few days ago with the title it has right now. I kept it private until I could write something to go with it...then I saw the film and synchronicity kicked in.

St Bees station serves as a passing place on a single line section between Sellafield and Whitehaven.

After collecting the token for the single line section to Sellafield, 47202 heads an MGR - bound for Fiddlers Ferry - through St Bees on a beautiful early summer evening in May 1982. A northbound Derby class 108 waits for the coal train to pass through before continuing its journey on the Single line to Corkickle.

At this time no token was required for trains towards Corkickle as an acceptance/direction system was in place.
