St Michael's Churchyard lies adjacent to a busy mainline where trains rush by and briefly disturb the hush of this rural churchyard. It also lies at the foot of the famous Lickey Incline which is the steepest sustained mainline railway incline in the UK having a gradient of of 1 in 37.7 (2.65% or 26.5‰ or 1.52°) for a continuous distance of 2 miles (3.2km)
Brush Type 5, Class 56 56072 passes through Ruabon with a trainload of empty cement wagons forming the MWFO 6J65 13:15 Curzon Street, Birmingham to Penyffordd cement works via Oakengates, where additional wagons would have been collected.

Committed to expired Fujifilm Superia 100 using a Leica M6 and 28 mm Summicron ASPH lens. Developed using a C-41 kit from Ars-Imago and scanned using an Epson V850 using Silverfast. Positive conversion, colour and levels done with Negative Lab Pro.
A CSX freight train passes by the old Crown Cork and Seal factory in Highlandtown Baltimore. Crown Cork and Seal has been being repurposed and renovated and being used as artists lofts.
MSC Arbatrax passes the CGM CMA George Washington as it progresses to the Upper Harbor, Oakland, California.
No drag queen this, but a fishing vessel that pulls its nets along the bottom, seen here heading away from Gloucester Harbor, beyond the Dog Bar Breakwater, on a foggy afternoon.

In pretty miserable conditions, a train of empty hoppers in the care of BR 25268 & 25269 passes Park Lane, Edon in February 1985 while heading for Leek Brook Junction from where they will continue to BIS Oakamoor for loading with sand.

Having descended the grade from through the Berkshire Hills rising in the background, Amtrak train 449, the Boston Section of the Lakeshore Limited to Chicago, hustles westbound on Main 2 at MP 147 on modern day CSXT's Berkshire Subdivision, the one time Boston and Albany Railroad mainline, in this view from the Woodlawn Avenue overpass. Holding on Main 1 is CSXT Selkirk to West Springfield train M424 which is setting off interchange traffic for the Housatonic Railroad and then will wait to swap crews with westbound counterpart M425.
Looming beyond is the the last remaining building from the once massive former GE plastics plant. General Electric was once the dominant industry in town dating all the way back to 1903 when when it purchased the Stanley Electric Manufacturing Co., which had been established in Pittsfield in 1890. In addition to its plastics division, GE manufactured transformers in town and operated an aerospace division. At its peak during the 1940s, the GE plant employed 13,000 people - in a city of just about 50,000!
The transformer division shut down by 1987 and took 2000 jobs with it, followed by the sale of aerospace to Lockheed Martin leaving only about 500 employees working for the plastics division. That last operation was closed and the remains sold off in 2005 and since that time many of the buildings on the 324 acre site have been removed, and for the past two decades GE has been working to clean and remediate the area from decades of PCB contamination. In addition to being a major employer it was once a huge rail customer though today what little trackage remains on the property is rusty and unused and there is so little rail served industry left that CSXT has long since abolished their last local freight crew in town.

On my way back from Grasslands National Park (West Block) I swung by the lonely little ghost town of Neidpath. The weather was great and just perfect for some long exposures with my ND filter.

First proper trip to Cornwall for over a year for bus snapping purposes, have to say really enjoyed it was nice to be back snapping stuff from the big F again.
Naturally headed to the college first as knew I could land a load of shots in a relatively short time.
I was impressed with presentation of the buses just the odd one looking a bit scruffy (mostly the ones left in the old liveries) but nothing like First of years ago.
Here B7s passing like ships in the night except its daytime! Unibus livery KP51WAO having dropped off its students is met with YJ54XUU inbound wearing the smart 'KERDROYA' livery for Cornish landscape labyrinth.

Recently artists were invited into Temple Works - a former flax mill in Holbeck, Leeds, UK, built by John Marshall in the 1830's - to make a visual and acoustic record of this Grade 1 listed building before works begin to transform it from its current derelict state, into a creative hub and multi purpose space.
The image above was from my second visit.
The images, video and audio recorded while on these little exploratory visits, will form the basis of a video piece for submission to an exhibition on October 9, to mark a sneak preview 'opening' at Temple Mills, as part of the Leeds Light Night Festival 09.

clouds speeding north-east. these were the last clouds that evening. after this......completely blue sky.
A derelict church and graveyard, but obviously someone tends one of the graves. I liked the contrast here between the living and the dead, in all senses of the words. The message that everything ultimately returns to dust - even the most alive and vibrant thing in this shot, the flowers in the foreground, have but a brief life.
The nearest grave, with the flowers, is for Neil MacLeod (father, d. January 22nd, 1952 age 69) and Isabella Mason (mother, d. 10th April, 1969 age 83) and bears the inscription at the bottom;
"I to the hills will lift mine eyes."
Still very busy, but hoping to gradually be able to free up more time for Flickr and photography .... I hope you have a great weekend, my friends.
