My next visit to Niddrie West Junction shows more of the long term problem here. With the line heading towards Millerhill closed, the other line now has a 5 mph speed restriction now on it, I found it very strange on my last visit that it had normal line speed !
Passing slowly is 60021 on the Oxwellmains - Viewpark cement , 6D62, on the 18th May 2018. Seen passing here at 0809.
The BR Table 39, 1E46 14:45 Liverpool Lime Street to Hull in the care of Brush Type 2 31422 was recorded passing Hough Green in February 1987.

Took a stroll down a few of the alleyways near Mustafa. There's one particularly long drag with people wandering about during the late hours. Will definitely be visiting this spot a few more times to examine it more closely.

I was invited to join the group Get Pushed and each week we are paired up with a new partner and challenge each other to do something a little of of our comfort zone. My partner this week is Monica, and after we each took a gander at each other's streams we realized we don't have any long exposures, so we both agreed to do the same challenge.
First let me say that I am not a huge fan of this image. At all. I had big ole fancy plans to head into the city and do the shoot-from-an-overpass-thing and was totally going to get my fireworks on. The hubs got called into work and my desire to drag two sweaty, crabby kids downtown by my lonesome quickly diminished . Instead, I went out to the main little artery in our hood. The street is under construction and looks, well, like crap. I sat on the edge of a driveway and propped my camera on top of a disgusting newspaper and waited for cars to come by. Pretty much every single car that passed slowed down to look at the crazy lady sitting on the ground with a camera. The crop is ridiculous...just about the only thing I do like is the car reflection at the end of the red trails.
BUT, I Got Pushed. And I kinda liked waiting to see what I was going to catch. I'll definitely try it again.
Throw in a little bit of Lightroom, and HSS, too!

I was in search of some good clear lightning last night, but it was too far in the distance for it to show up as anything but a yellow glow.
NR92, NR106, NR23 lead 5BM4 through Mittagong.
The semaphore signal visible is one of three semaphores remaining at Mittagong. The signal was used to authorise down trains into the now removed up refuge.
The disused brick platform visible on the left was the dock platform.

A moment of a boat (on the Ijssel) passing the Westervoortse bridge during the period it was lit. The exposure time was not long enough to create a complete light trail of the boat, so I blended 2 pictures (just like making a startail).

Another shot from a recent wander up on Alnwick Moor. Just love exploring these places that I've driven past so many times and thought, I wonder what's over there!? :0)

Lancaster and Chester rail crew brings a train into downtown Chester to leave for Norfolk Southern. Here they are passing the six axle powwer which is currently sidelines with mechanical issues.

This is just a quick post to share a link to a stunning short video by the film maker Mike Olbinski, currently posting on the Vimeo website. It's called 'Pulse' and when you see it you'll understand why, it's essentially a B/W four minute film showing various awesome (one of the few times that overused word is justified) and very powerful storm systems moving across wide open landscapes...and my words just don't do it justice, and as anyone who knows me, I'm a cloud junkie, so you may think I'm biased...but trust me, go see it! Now! And as it's in HD make sure you watch it full screen, it's 4 minutes and 30 seconds of your time in which to have your mind blown, virtually every frame would make an incredible still photo to hang on your wall. And you won't be wasting another 4 minutes if you read his commentary after watching the film, he explains how he made it, why he chose the music to accompany it (it's hauntingly beautiful and complements the film to perfection) and, more importantly from my pov as a primarily B/W photographer, why he chose to shoot it in B/W. Watching the film has the same effect on me that looking at the truly astonishing images from the Hubble telescope does...being humbled and awe inspired by Nature, she really does know how to show off while putting us in our places!
Strangely, I saw Pulse just after I posted this image a few days ago with the title it has right now. I kept it private until I could write something to go with it...then I saw the film and synchronicity kicked in.
I am visiting flickr when I can and catching up with you all, if you haven't heard from me yet, you will! Hope you're all doing well and getting some excellent creating done outside in this impressive and slightly bizarre weather we're having/will have...snow? snow? snow? yes! yes! yes please! :-)
1H45, the 1255 Moor Street - Marylebone passes Anyho Junction, propelled by an unidentified class 68. The Oxford Canal is on the right, as the line continues towards London the closer of the two Souldern Viaducts can be seen, the second just glimpsed beyond.
Enterprise Marine Services' Maggie Rae traveling light-tug from Calumet Harbor (South Chicago) makes her way down the Indiana Harbor channel, likely to pick up more tank barges like the ones she had delivered to Calumet Harbor earlier in the afternoon. As she enters the Canal, she passes the Joseph L. Block, who recently arrived to wait for another vessel to leave a hopper dock before beginning her unload.
