Distant (snow-capped) mountains and dramatic light through passing clouds. Taken above Gallin, just along from Meggernie Castle in the middle of Glen Lyon.
Engineer Jay Monty leans out the cab window of Monson RR #3 as he takes one of Edaville Family Theme Park's excursion trains past Atwood Junction, which is the junction between the old, 5.5-mile loop around Atwood Reservoir, and the current, 2-mile loop, which bypasses the reservoir entirely. Sadly, only a portion of the original trackage around the reservoir still exists as some of the original land is now a housing development.
This image was captured during the December 2024, Christmas Festival of Lights event at the Edaville Family Theme Park in South Carver, MA.

From one Mārahau Water Taxi to another
Not much time for me or the camera to make much of the event. It does however convey the impression, moreso if having salty water thrown at you whilst your chair is collapsing.

A male black darter (Sympetrum danae) that I met along with many other dragonflies and damselflies of various species, on World Photography Day two days ago.
It is the smallest of the Norwegian dragonfly species. It is found in northern Europe, Asia, and North America.
The male has a mainly black body like this one. The abdomen has small yellow marks on the side, that darken with age.
(The female has black legs and brown eyes. The abdomen is mainly yellow, becoming browner with age. It has small yellow patches at the wing bases.)
(Svarthøstlibelle-hann in Norwegian)

The rails of the long abandoned coaling tower sit silent as westbound CSX freight train H751 thunders through the village of Thurmond, WV, on the autumn day of October 26, 2018.
And another popular spot, Lindis Pass :) probably not the best time to be shooting at midday but not much we could have done about that :)
37122 is passing Sheffield Darnall with what looks like an everyday engineers ballast train. Its running under the eastern end of the Woodhead Line electric catenary which went out to Rotherwood Sidings.

I live two miles from a regional airport and in weekends, skydiving sport is practiced. I was in the backyard of my house when I noticed that the paratroopers and the plane carrying them pass in front of the moon. I use the Nikon P900 to test the zoom, I know they are not the best photos, but they were two miles from my house.
A GWR Class 800 IET makes it way along the SWML towards Margam Knuckle on a Swansea London – Paddington service. Tragically, on 3 July 2019, two track workers were struck and fatally injured by a passenger train near this spot.
