It was really quite cold whilst walking along the beach esplanade this afternoon but at least it didn't rain ... just for a change!!

I just happened to notice the containership at sea just passing Ailsa Craig!

Stay Safe and Healthy Everyone!

Thanks to everyone who views this photo, adds a note, leaves a comment and of course BIG thanks to anyone who chooses to favourite my photo .... Thanks to you all!

Apart from a few minutes of light rain, we had a dry walk on North Hill, despite heavy cloud passing on either side.

Bossington Beach and Porlock Weir were certainly catching it!

Do you remember when you could photograph passing HST's at Ledbury. In theory by 2017 this should not have been possible but if the westbound ran late [which was more common than you might expect] then it was possible to get both of them in a reasonable position albeit some shadow from the signal box...

The strong light from the rising sun passes through this old barn. I have been pretty sick the last couple of days therefore going out when it is 15 degrees wasn't an option....so this is the best that i could do from the driver seat of my truck. 3exp handheld. HDR. I 'll have to go back to this location sometime when i can actually get out and compose a shot and grab some more exposures!!

First proper trip to Cornwall for over a year for bus snapping purposes, have to say really enjoyed it was nice to be back snapping stuff from the big F again.

Naturally headed to the college first as knew I could land a load of shots in a relatively short time.

I was impressed with presentation of the buses just the odd one looking a bit scruffy (mostly the ones left in the old liveries) but nothing like First of years ago.

Here B7s passing like ships in the night except its daytime! Unibus livery KP51WAO having dropped off its students is met with YJ54XUU inbound wearing the smart 'KERDROYA' livery for Cornish landscape labyrinth.

Two ScotRail services are seen passing each other on the line between Kingsknowe and Wester Hailes on the western outskirts of Edinburgh. I am standing on Wester Hailes station as 156510 heads away towards Kingsknowe with 2Y82, 0817 Glasgow Central - Edinburgh Waverley via Shotts service, running 8 minutes late. Coming towards me is 158728 with 2Y67, 0925 Edinburgh Waverley - Glasgow Central via Shotts service at 0941 on the 7th February 2018.

This reminded me of a beautiful poem by Sohrab Sepehri, called "Address" as translated into English from the Persian:

Where is the friend's house?" The rider asked in the twilight. Heaven paused;

The passerby bestowed the bough of light on his lips to darkness of sands

And pointed to a poplar and said:

"Near the tree

Is a garden-alley greener than God's dream

Where love is as blue as the feathers of honesty;

Walk to the end of the alley, which emerges from behind puberty,

Then turn towards the flower of solitude

Two steps to the flower

Stay by the eternal mythological fountain of the earth, where a transparent fear will visit you;

In the flowing intimacy of the space you will hear a rustling sound,

You will see a child

Who has ascended a tall pine tree to pick up chickens from the nest of light,

Ask him,

Where is the friend's house?"

The train to right is Amtrak Wolverine Service No. 350, which is diverging from the NS Chicago Line to the Amtrak Michigan Line to continue on to Detroit (Pontiac) The train to the left is the westbound Capitol Limited, which is nearing the end of its overnight journey from Washington.

A little out-the-window grab as I raced the NS 148 towards Decatur earlier this year. This ex-SP patched AC44 led the manifest into central Illinois, certainly a rarity to see these days. The SP has never been my favourite railroad, but a bloody nose motor in 2024 is not something you can easily turn your nose up at! I imagine we won't have these around all that much longer, so any opportunity to see one is worth taking. I didn't really expect to get a clear photo driving by this guy, but one actually came out fairly clear, so that was certainly a nice change of pace.
