Next up is train 76 from Candiac. The interlocking tower on the left was closed decades ago, but is nicely preserved today as a museum.
I love walking along the beach. One minute there is a light sky against dark water, and then its all change.
This was taken at 10.32am, whilst the one below was taken 20 minutes later, from almost the same spot.
A westbound freight train passes an Amtrak special at the Mott-Azalea crossover near Mt. Shasta, California. The Amtrak train had taken a trainload of passengers from Sacramento to the Railroad Days in Dunsmuir. After turning on the wye at Black Butte, it was returning to Dunsmuir to load passengers for the trip back to Sacramento.
A passing glance reveals a world of interest.

The road across Rocky Mountain National Park - Trail Ridge Road - had just opened for the season 2 days prior to my going up. Going up later in the afternoon provided an interesting mix of passing thunderstorms, dramatic lighting, and snow covered mountains.
UP ILTSIR-28 rolls into Sylmar passing a local landmark: the Los Angeles Aqueduct's Cascades. Through freight traffic isn't all that common on this line, but a maintenance closure of the Palmdale Cutoff brought a number of freight trains through on this Memorial Day weekend.

The cattle on the edge of the village this morning. The sky was hazy but nor so cold as the last couple of days. At least the cattle were enjoying the watery sunshine.

On the last day of Coronation Special runs on the Piccadilly Line on the bank holiday Monday, the LT Museums preserved 1938 Stock runs into Ruislip Station past the disused but preserved signal box. We'd gone into Uxbridge to do some shopping for a forthcoming holiday so we timed our shopping trip to catch the '38 stock coming and going on a couple of runs into the station through the day. I got this shot on our way back home, reaching Ruislip station just in time to see it approaching.

The play of light and shadow moves like a living rhythm through the forest — a fleeting moment caught in motion, where the calm of the trees meets the blur of passing time.
Fun fact
Did you know that pine forests like this one are designed by nature to let sunlight reach the forest floor? Their tall, slender trunks and sparse canopy create shifting light patterns that change with every hour of the day.
