The East Anglian Fens, drained of water and abstracted into endless intensively-farmed arable fields, can feel like a place you just want to pass through. But the few parts that still have something of their original character, reeds and scrub and waterways, deer and hares and so many kinds of birds, are still magical.

92010 is just about to pass GBRF livery 92028 which is stabled up having worked the Highland sleeper itself from London Euston. 92010 was running round having arrived with the Lowland sleeper and both are seen at Edinburgh 18/12/24.
Back in 2016 on my 1st trip to Hong Kong, we visited the island fishing village of Tai O. As I walked along a narrow street, I passed a doorway and inside were these 3 gents engaged in a friendly game of cards. Well, I assume it was friendly...
Once the gateway to Cornwall, you could drive your car onto a train at Kensington Olympia and several hours later, after maybe a stop at Newton Abbot for the Devon Riviera drive off at St Austell in the middle of erm China Clay Country. Anyway now sadly a redundant siding.

The silence is broken for a brief moment as an eastbound empty BNSF coal train from Roberts Bank, British Columbia, blasts upgrade by the grain elevator in Wyola, Montana, on September 15, 2020.
I am on Baffin Island leading a photo tour until mid-September, but I asked my people to post it while I am away in the Arctic. This is my beloved British Columbia (Coastal Mountains), just after a heavy rainfall. Beautiful light coming through the clouds is highlighting the area. If you look closer, you can still see droplets of rain on trees.
I was wowed by this composition the moment I saw it as an entry to Landscape Photographer of the Year several years ago.
Late last Autumn I was in London with my gear and happened to walk past the spot- it's nowhere near where I expected it to be. Despite the fact it's been done very well by many people over the years, I couldn't resist spinning the shot my way.
The trains were very kind in running relentlessly to provide lots of trails but sadly the sky didn't deliver anything spectacular on that day.
Later, with exceptionally tired legs and blistered feet, I managed to grab another London cliche shot that I'll be uploading soon.

LSRC 798 leads a boxcar-heavy southbound past the quiet streets of Pinconning, MI on a beautiful spring afternoon. I believe this train originated in Grayling, and the same set of power was seen heading north the prior evening. The train will soon arrive at its destination in Bay City.
