New Haven Railroad DER-2a class ALCO FA-1 # 0401 leads an eastbound freight train past tower SS38, with a tower operator looking on at Stamford, Connecticut, 1968. Bob Hughes with his position as a tower operator could capture images such as this on a regular basis where a railfan could just not do it. In the background is seen highway I-95 and a small portion of Stamford's downtown area. The FA-1 locomotive is wearing what has been called the Alpert paint scheme. You can also notice that the old single bulb and reflector style headlight has been replaced with twin sealed beam headlights.

This was a quick fly to Las Vegas and drive to Page before my niece wedding in Temecula, California.
An early rise at 4am at a hotel in Las vegas for a 12:30pm slot in Upper Antelope Canyon. The operator insist on their website that all MUST follow the MST (Mountain Standard Time) which was 1 hour ahead of Nevada on PST (Pacific Standard Time), so I aimed to get there at least two hours ahead to compensate for the time difference and the required 1 hour signed on before the tour.
We got there at 11:10am MST and feeling proud on arriving well early, paid my bookings, got the camera, spare batteries, SD card ready and waited for the 11:30am MST call out.
There were two clocks on the briefing area PST and MST. The guide said that we must return at 11:30am, but the MST clock is on 11:30am MST and 10:30am on PST clock. Why were they running on PST when thier website insist on following the MST? I could have spent that extra hour in bed, lurking around Vegas or breakfast before the tour.
Cheers to Bart our Navajo guide for the entertainments and showing us where to shoot, but he missed these two dogs and the faces. I'll post that later..

Harris of Fleur-de-Lys has recenly replaced some of its early Optare Solos with a batch of 60-plate 8.9m Alexander Dennis E20Ds acquired from Go Ahead-owned Metrobus.
03 was formerly YX60 FTO but now carries plate MXZ 6836. She is captured waiting time at Crumlin Square in late March 2019 when operating Caerphilly CBC-contracted Service N2 (Crumlin-Newbridge), which interworks with Service N3 (Newbridge-Llanfach). These services have been operated by a succession of operators over the years. National Welsh, Stagecoach, Glyn Williams, Veolia and Phil Anslow all spring to mind.

W.W. Wrathall originally opened up a photography shop in 1908 in Hazelton where he was also a telegraph operator. Soon recognizing other opportunities, he closed up that shop moved over to Prince Rupert in 1912, opening up his shop Wrathall Photo Finishing Ltd. He was soon in competition for business with English-born J. Dennis Allen, who had moved to Prince Rupert in 1907 at the age of 27 and opened up the J.D. Allen Photographic Company. Allen was known for his postcards depicting the natural surroundings of Prince Rupert. Allen lived in Prince Rupert – except between 1914 and 1918 when he fought in the First World War – until 1949 when he and his family moved to southern BC. Allen eventually passed away in Victoria in 1966. Many of Wrathall’s photos depict people, buildings, railways, and industry in Prince Rupert, Hazelton, and in settlements on BC’s North Coast and Alaska’s southern coast. Eventually Wrathall gave way to his son Jack and daughter Vivian Comadina who took over the family business in March 1948. Hazelton is one of the oldest settlements in northern British Columbia; its European settlement dates back to 1866 when the Collins Overland telegraph went through. Hazelton was the original gateway and staging area for the Omineca Gold Rush of 1869-73. It also had the only proper hospital for hundreds of miles in any direction. Another, less appreciated, distinctions was in having dozens of roaming, foraging and howling sled dogs, as nearly everyone had their own team and many were allowed to run free. Transportation options got better in 1891 when the Hudson's Bay Company’s sternwheeler Caledonia arrived from Port Essington. As the head of navigation on the Skeena, Hazelton played host to more than a dozen sternwheelers throughout the next twenty-two years.

Besides the spring, everything's fully recolorable after one ungroup :)
Including:
- Stippling
- Original PMAG details
- Maglevel protection
- Rounds indicator
- Recolorable bottom plate
(code spawns only one PMAG)
Updated. Slightly larger code, but the magplate looks much better now.
Please credit me for my work :)

One of the train fleets due to retire from daily service to and from Glasgow Central is the Class 350's currently with TransPennine Express. This example - 350403 - was captured on 21/09 as it awaited time to depart to Corkerhill for overnight stabling.
350403 was involved in a collision with horses which resulted in a lengthy withdrawal whilst repairs took place. The driving trailer involved was (apparently) sent to Siemens in Germany for repair hence the length of time taken. It returned to service at the end of July.
The Class 350/4s are due to move to LNR when the new Class 397 units enter service on the Scotland - Manchester Airport services. This changeover is due to happen soon so there was evidently no desire to re-apply vinyls to a unit due to move elsewhere in the short term - meaning this unit is running around without any indication of who uses it.

It generally takes me a year to go through a roll of 12 exposures, so I still pull out the 50+-year-old-manual when it's time to load and unload film from my Yashica-Mat. Photographed on a Wednesday afternoon TLR wander with Eugene. Strathcona, Vancouver. April 24, 2013.
