Operator 9 is on the line.
Two Bowens Esprit 500 W/S monolights--PC sync to the key light with the fill slave automatically triggered upon fire. On the left of the phone, at about an 8 o'clock angle, I shot through a white umbrella which was about the same level as the subject. The second (fill) light was higher up and maybe 6 feet away at a 5 o'clock angle, shooting into an umbrella facing a wall. The fill bounce off the wall diffused it pretty well overall and allowed me to bring out the gross, vintage-looking, olive-green background a bit more. I still have no idea what I'm doing, but I like the results of this experiment.

The real question was what kind of a macro can I shoot to capture the true essence of Pink Floyd's Ummagumma or even Echoes. I was thinking something with a standing wave but maybe a project for a later date.
I didn't think the PF thing was going to pan out and my attention soon turned to a little old phone I have. It's a nice old phone, it keeps the old piano company, they share dust. So, making it's debut as an image for Macro Mondays, Lockdown Song, Operator and accompanied by a Jim Croce song of the same name. You just can't go wrong with Jim Croce songs.

This is what happens when someone pushes the wrong button on an industrial oven to racks of plastic trays full of meat products. Instead of steam cooking the product, the operator selected roasting....at much higher temperature

Another of the Infinites has arrived. They didn't come to save us from ourselves, they just took a random trip without a care where they end up. Just leaving a hazy cosmic trace.

I finally figured out what bothered me about the operators I've made in the past. No camo on helmets or vests. It just didn't flow without it. So I painted some helmets and vests, and here we are, something I can finally be satisfied with

Old divisions belong to the old world. Spend not a moment more quarreling over them. What is done is done, so much more still to do. Allow yourself to let go of derogatory terms and ableist language.

This, as well as many others of my transport photos, was made along with my fellow spotter Mikhail Utkin, the pioneer and inspirer of trainspotting hobby in Kazakhstan and Middle Asia. He and his photos inspired me to try it myself and for many years after he was my best company on spotting trips, short and long. It is very sad to inform that Mikhail has passed away today, on the 21st of June 2021. Rest in peace.
M62 series were never used on Kazakhstan Railways (operating mostly in European part of the former USSR) and so the fact to see one near Almaty was a striking surprise. Turned out 3 locos were involved in construction of the second track on Almaty - Shu line, most likely rented from private operator in Russia.

George the zombie had seen better centuries. Once a fearsome figure in the post-apocalyptic shuffle scene, he’d fallen on hard times - his last gig as a haunted house extra ended when he mistook the manager for a snack. So when he stumbled across a job listing taped to a rusty lamppost that read “Elevator Operator Wanted - No Brains Needed!”, George felt seen. Finally, a workplace that appreciated his unique qualifications: slow reflexes, vacant stare, and an uncanny ability to groan at just the right moment.
Now stationed in a dimly lit hallway, George takes pride in his work. He’s punctual (he never sleeps), courteous (his vocabulary is limited to “Uhhh”), and he never judges anyone’s floor choice. Sure, some passengers scream when the doors open to reveal his decomposing grin, but George chalks that up to enthusiasm. And while he occasionally forgets which button to press - his fingers tend to fall off - he’s found purpose again. After all, in a world that’s always rushing, George reminds us to slow down… preferably to a crawl.
