Dual joysticks provide input to the OI microprocessor to drive each of the wheels. The pots and buttons at the side go through a breakout box to the other serial inputs. The unit can be tethered or use 900Mhz wireless to communicate with the robot.
Here's some crazy picture of a phone with graduated focus blurring as the lens distances itself from the phone. I find the glow of the red text above some of the buttons particularly fascinating.
