Description: In this photo, six women are seated at switchboards at a telephone exchange (likely the one previously located in the Whalen Building). Their boss Tom Delbridge, the Superintendent of Telephones, oversees their work from the far right.
Fifty years later, the majority of telephone operators in Northwestern Ontario were still women.

Taken from the operators seat of Columbus & Southern Electric #2 after chasing 65 ton 7178 down the line. 7178 came down ahead of the days train to work on brush cutting, as shown in this photo, the weeds got bad!

First Transit Mesa operator Jason Allison celebrates his first place accomplishment with his family.
The Downs GAA Valentines 5KM Road Race and Fun run was held at The Downs GAA club, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath on Sunday February 10th 2013 at 12:00. The race was held as a fundraiser for the Downs National School. The parents, teachers, and friends of the Downs National School and the neighbouring community are to be congratulated with the fabulous road race and social event that they organised. There was a great family atmosphere at the event and there was a very plentiful spread of refreshments afterwards in the Clubhouse.
The race starts on the Cloghan road and proceeds clock-wise around a circuit which takes in the main Killucan road. The road surface is a mixture of standard tarmacadam and gravel trail around by the forestry. Overall, the course is flat with just two very small hills for runners to content with. This road race was the same course as that which was held in June 2012.

All of the photographs here on this Flickr set have a visible watermark embedded in them. All of the photographs posted here on this Flickr set are available, free, at no cost, at full resolution WITHOUT watermark. We take these photographs as a hobby and as a contribution to the running community in Ireland. We do not know of any other photographers who operate such a policy. As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. The National Railway Museum’s former London Midland & Scottish Railway Company Stanier 5P5F 4-6-0 ‘Black Five’ class locomotive number 5000 crosses the bridge over Green Crize south of Hereford with a Steam Locomotive Operators Association’s eleven coach additional ‘Welsh Marches Pullman’ charter to Newport which it worked between Hereford (where it replaced The Leander Locomotive Limited’s former London Midland & Scottish Railway Company Stanier 5XP 4-6-0 ‘Jubilee’ class locomotive number 5690 LEANDER) and Newport. 13:47, Saturday 13th March 1982
Note, 5000 was built at the London Midland & Scottish Railway Company’s Crewe works (works number 216) in February 1935 as number 5000. It was transferred to British Railways upon nationalisation of the railways on 1st January 1948, being renumbered 45000. It was withdrawn from Lostock Hall Motive Power Depot in week ending 28th October 1967 and stored. Having been selected for official preservation by the British Transport Commission it was moved to Preston Park works in Brighton in January 1968 and remained in store until late 1977 when placed on loan to the Severn Valley Railway where it was restored to working order in spring 1979. It was allocated the TOPS number 98500
