Shot taken at Ancient Shiv mandir in Ambernath. Over 1200 years old. Built of interlocking black stone in the "hemadpanti" style. Covered with exqusite carvings. Has a "swayambhu" Shiv Ling. Some carvings are now falling off due to poor maintenance and neglect. The temple is the focus of a huge fair during Mahashivratri. Smooth rays are known to charge divers in a bit of a territorial display of authority. It's happened to me before but this was full on! After i saw this guy from the surface, i descended into about 9 m of water. I lay flat on the bottom, and it charged straight for me. I stayed motionless, holding my ground and trying not to move a muscle. It was a game of chicken, (but with a ray) and no one was backing down. I thought it would approach closely, and then veer away at the last moment , but no...it went straight over the top of me....a 2-3 metre wide mass 'breathing' down on me as it passed over me lying on the ground. One hell of an encounter! We became quiet good friends over the next 20-30 minutes as he continued to do close inspections...none as close as this first one though.

To give you a little idea how far we have come, this is a picture of the operators desk before we started restoration. The windows were boarded up but still were smashed. Water got in everywhere and ruined the desk top. The desk drawers are below.

After receiving their gear, the new operators wasted no time heading to the range to put their weapons and equipment to the test. The range had been set up by the more experienced operators, who were also on hand to assist the newcomers. This initial session was not just about familiarization but also about ensuring that every piece of gear met their high standards of performance and reliability. From testing the precision of their firearms to assessing the functionality of their tactical tools, the operators ensured that they were mission-ready.
For a Tier One operator, training isn’t just a requirement—it’s a way of life. The ability to execute missions with precision and adaptability comes from relentless practice and preparation. Consistent training, especially marksmanship, is the foundation of their effectiveness on the battlefield.

I took these photos while I was in between pilot runs on Amtrak #5 and #6 on November 5-6, 2010. #5 and #6 were detouring over the former C&NW and UP between Chicago and Omaha because of bridge work on the BNSF.

This 2011 DAF CF was seen parked amongst multiple other horseboxes at Rockrose Equestrian Sports Centre, near East Linton, Scotland. While not always especially interesting, horsebox lorries tend to be considerably old and rare, one example being this 14 year old DAF. Admittedly this one is fairly modern in comparison to the other horseboxes seen in this yard, but this shape of CF is an increasingly rarer sight as production ended over a decade ago. SN11BDU was new to Bidfood as a fridge unit, and has been a horsebox since 2020.
