The largest operator (so far) apart from Shearings to go under is de Courcey at Coventry in August, whose fleet was in excess of 100 vehicles, on a wide mix of work, none of which was probably very profitable even before Covid came along. Nearly 40 vehicles were used on National Express contracts, but the private hire coaches had dwindled to almost nothing. The mainstay of the service bus fleet was the MAN/MCV Evolution, and I encountered 552 on what was probably my one and only visit to Nuneaton, on a freezing cold January day in 2010 - well there were bargain-priced day rover tickets on offer in the WM area for a few weekends, so I took the opportunity to visit a few places that I would never normally go near !

552 left the fleet later that year, and after languishing with a dealer for some time, ended up going north to the Orkneys to end its days.

GM Buses South MCW Metrobus 5092 when seen here in Stockport in 1994 was addorned with its new company names in the windscreen and even carried a side advert telling unsuspecting members of the public that a new era was on the horizon. The livery however, was the 1988 80% orange scheme introduced by GM Buses to replace the brown skirted scheme of 1981. At this time buses in this livery variation were rare as it wasn't with us for long and most had received partial repaints to the revised livery that incorporated a shallow dark grey skirt and white and black fleetnames, the 'People on the Move' subtitle to the GM Buses name being dropped at the same time.

Austin has some of the attributes that increase the odds of passing BUD/S; to quote an article

(found at:

www.sandiegouniontribune.com/sdut-navy-seals-recruit-athl...) :

"...water polo players had the greatest odds..."

and:

"Regular participation in several alternative sports, like skiing...were also shown to increase the odds..."

Austin is a serious water polo player, and Skier...now if they added avid (perhaps *rabid*, as he *always* wants to go play) Airsoft player (similar to Paintball but with replica real-world weapons), there just might be a winning formula for recruiting future Navy Seals / Spec Ops ;-)

Picture of Austin looking like a mini-me version (during morning rules) of an 'Operator' out at an airsoft field yesterday. This is a pic of how he chooses to look (seriously).

I post this only because I have a feeling he'll go Spec Ops in the future and want this as proof that I knew it was going to happen (seriously)...which also means I'll have to delete this and all pics I've *ever* posted of him if it happens :-(

It was not until I studied this picture that I realized what a complex structure that crane was and what a responsibility the operator has! One false move and he could cost thousands, if not millions!!
