On 10 December 2017 Connexxion started the new concession Amstelland-Meerlanden, comprising the area between Uithoorn-Schiphol-Nieuw-Vennep-Haarlem and Amsterdam Zuid. Connexxion was already the operator of this concession, which makes for a smooth transition. All the more necessary as the 100 electric buses that are core to the concession will only be operated from April 2018 onwards. While the electric buses are ready, the complexity of the infrastructure, the responsibility of Schiphol Airport, was underestimated and is not ready yet and the full electric operation has been postponed to April 2018.
Also, the new Amsterdam subway North-South Route (Noord-Zuid lijn) will open mid-2018, after which a number of bus routes will be curtailed to Amsterdam Zuid. As a result, Connexxion will maintain 102 (?) vehicles of the existing fleet until April and June 2018.
The new fleet consists of:
Underlying network (white buses):
2700-2706: 7 IVECO Crossway LE 10.8 m;
2708-2721: 14 IVECO Crossway LE 13 m.
R-net (express services):
1129-1146: 18 VDL Futura DD 14 meter double deckers (operated by TCR);
2722-2768: 47 IVECO Crossway LE 13 m;
9340-9372: 33 Mercedes-Benz CapaCity L;
9300-9339: 40 Solaris Urbino 18 (which will be replaced by electric buses after three years);
9751-9799: VDL 18 meter electric buses SLFA180 (from April 2018 onwards).
For the Schiphol network:
9700-9750: 51 VDL 18 meter electric buses BRT design, SLFA181 (from April 2018 onwards).
To replace the electric buses until April 2018 and in anticipation of the opening of the North-South subway in Amsterdam, Connexxion will retain:
In R-net livery:
-28 MAN Lion’s City T, 2007: 3837, 3838, 3843, 3849, 3851, 3853, 3854, 3860, 3861, 3863, 3867, 3870, 3871, 3872, 3877, 3884, 3885, 3888, 3889, 3891, 3894, 3900, 3913, 3914, 3918, 3930, 3935, 4002;
-10 Volvo B7RLE 8707, 2009: 5719-5728. These buses come from the Almere concession;
-17 Mercedes-Benz Citaro G, 2007: 9192-9202, 9205, 9223-9227;

United Counties seem to be poorly represented in model form despite operating many types of vehicle that already exist in the EFE range, so this kit-built example was a welcome acquisition. It is a very old Pirate kit of the Series 2 Bristol VR, representing Bedford-based 768 (WRP 768J) in my favourite post-privatisation stripy livery. I believe the real 768 may have actually been a flat-fronted VR, and it had no other operator, being sold for scrap in 1988, but its sister 767 survives in preservation.

Flickr's ToS wisely prohibit selling or advertising anything on this site, but if you stumbled onto my FB page: ( Bo Gray Photography ) there might--or might not--be relevant info about the 2015 Bluegrass Railroad Museum Calendar and its availability.
No name written on the back. Printed in Dallas TX. Dated by printer January 1959. I keep looking at the stove in the next room, and it is a reminder of how dedicated these phone operators were during that time. The clock reminds me of a clock we had back in that era. I do wish I could make out the calendar to see how soon after the photo was taken that the film was sent off to develop.
I sure wish I had that stove, though.
