Austin is a serious water polo player, and Skier...now if they added avid (perhaps *rabid*, as he *always* wants to go play) Airsoft player (similar to Paintball but with replica real-world weapons), there just might be a winning formula for recruiting future Navy Seals / Spec Ops ;-)

Two flamethrower operators posing with a mittlere 50 litrige Flammenwerfer M.1915. The lance operator wears the asbestos protective hood typically used with larger flamethrower models. The accessory box hanging on his belt contains igniters, a protective cap for the end of the lance (already in place on the photo) and a screw-on wick holder used to stow rags soaked in flame oil in case they run out of regular igniters.
I cannot tell if the armband they both wear have a relation with their job, maybe to denote they are part of the flamethrower platoon of their unit. I believe it to be red-black-red.

No name written on the back. Printed in Dallas TX. Dated by printer January 1959. I keep looking at the stove in the next room, and it is a reminder of how dedicated these phone operators were during that time. The clock reminds me of a clock we had back in that era. I do wish I could make out the calendar to see how soon after the photo was taken that the film was sent off to develop.
I sure wish I had that stove, though.
