I just finished watching the big game (the Super Bowl for my international friends) all I can say is wow. I have not seen that many fumbles in a long long time. Sorry Chicago ... I was rooting for you.
This is a continuation of yesterday's photo and I will most likely post one or two more then move on. I become quite restless quite easy when it comes to posting a series.

Many bus and coach operators issued publicity guides to 'sell' their network and this, from the mid-1920s, is typical. One thing was less common in that the Bristol Tramways & Carriage Co Ltd. (whose magnificent title survived past the end of their tramways operation and into the 1950s!) were one of the few operators who built their own buses and coaches. The Bristol factory at Brislington would in fact, over the coming decades, churn out thousands of well-regarded vehicles that many other operators purchased, particularly in the nationalised years when Bristol had a 'captive' audience.
This edition of the guide shows a Bristol 'charabanc' on the Open Road, typical of the image of coach trip of the era and at a time when road motor transport was starting to make serious inroads into railway excursion travel. The booklet details 37 tours that the Company ran across the South West of England, many 'local' but including some fairly lengthy runs to destinations such as Stratford upon Avon and Bournemouth. The routes are shown on the two maps.
This edition fo the guide is produced by E Burrow & Co Ltd of Cheltenham, a publisher who became dominant in the niche market of 'official' guides and handbooks. The guide also conatins two adverts - one for the company's charabanc tours and another for the charabancs themselves. At the time the Commercial Vehicle section of the company, based at Brislington, was able to sell to the open market and their chassis were highly regarded.

These photos will be my main reference for my next project, just something fun to do. It'll be a a much larger scale than usual, but I'm up for the challenge. I want to motorize what I can, as well
Well could you help me place this call?
What, you're not a Jim Croce fan?
The years have neglect have not been kind to the MKT Depot at Beagle. This is what's left of the building today, just a few yards from its original location across the track. As late as the 1960's this station was staffed by an agent.
It was purchased in the 1980's and moved to this location by the Co-Op that owned the elevator to the west. Even though it was in fresh paint in 1988, the structure fell into disrepair after interest in preservation waned, leaving only these ruins behind.
Here we're looking from the freight room into the operator room, and towards the ticket window and passenger waiting room.

ALTO Tower operator "Mumbles" writes down a the numbers of an Altoona based helper set cutting in ahead on NS's westbound 17G from Oak Island NJ to Conway PA along with the road power before its climb up the 2.2% grade through Horseshoe Curve and points westward.
By this time, in early spring of 2012 the towers days were numbered. With a new signal and interlocking modernization process under way to eliminate the need of a controlled interlocking by the tower and turn it over to a dispatcher.
The project, unfortunately for the tower and its operator's was completed in the early parts of summer 2012, nearly a year behind the original set scheduled date.
By early June in the project's progression, almost all of the interlocking switches inside the tower were now red tagged and put out of service. And for any that may have remained in service, they would be handled during the MofW curfew set in place to rip out the old Pennsy Position Lights, cut in the brand new signals, remove/cut off any of the old interlockings configurement and lastly turn it over to Altoona East Dispatcher.
When the clock struck about 11AM on that fateful morning of June 16th 2012, ALTO's last operator was escorted out of the tower and across the mainline by the road foreman.
Effectively and permenantly ending 97 years of continuous service, which had managed to survive through 2 mergers (NYC-PRR) (CSX/NS split of CR), 3 railroads (PRR, PC and CR) and successfully lasting 13 years under the control of Norfolk Southern Railway.
ALTO Tower was the only operational tower on the entire Pittsburgh Division in 2012 and outlasted other multiple towers on the mountain between Altoona and Pittsburgh alone. Some as much as 2 nearly 3 decades, while others nearly a decade.
Some of these other towers were such as following:
SO Tower (Southfork, PA) (Razed after being burned by arsonists)
C Tower (Conemaugh, PA) (Razed)
MO Tower (Cresson, PA) (Collasped in on itself while trying to be transported by the CRHS)
AR Tower (Gallitzin, PA)
MG Tower (Altoona, PA)
The famous tower still stands currently and there is discussions with NS being made on saving the tower. No further details have been released as of 11/25/12.
Flammieri of the Czechoslovak Italian legion, as identified by the red and white cockade on the instructor's cappello alpino, posing for a photograph in 1918.
The men wear asbestos hoods and gloves, wrongly identified by the original caption as British protective gear. They must be cadets taking courses at a gas school, since none of them adorn the flammiere shoulder patch, worn on the left arm, consisting of a black dragon breathing red flames.

Following on from their formation in 1998 in a matter of just a few years D&G Bus built up a comprehensive portfolio of bus routes across the Potteries and the surrounding areas which were largely operated by a motley collection of ageing Mercedes-Benz minibuses and step-entrance Dennis Darts. In 2011 however they retreated from the area and D&G name disappeared from the streets of the Potteries as they sold their Adderley Green depot and operations to Arriva - who merged their operation into the 'Wardle Transport' brand. D&G did however continue to operate around nearby Crewe and in the West Midlands.
Fast forward to 2015 and D&G have transformed into a smart, reliable operator and have one of the most modern fleets in the area. They have also returned to many areas that they served prior to the sale to Arriva, and are set to gain a larger presence in such areas following the announcement that they are to take over the bus routes of Bakerbus later this month and open a new depot in Longton, Stoke-on-Trent - which will only be a few miles from the one they sold to Arriva in 2011.
Typical of the fleet in the 2000's, pictured is Plaxton Beaver Bodied Mercedes-Benz 711D P688KCC (44) which is seen off service in Brown Edge having just worked the 493 from Leek, which is primarily for Westwood College Students although curiously runs Monday-Friday all year round.
