A father of two has offered to share his home with convicted pedophile Dennis Ferguson. Brett Collins, an ex-prisoner and advocate for prisoners' rights, has offered to have Ferguson live with him in his Sydney home. Mr Collins says he is angered by the community uproar surrounding Ferguson. Ferguson has been hounded out by angry residents of one Queensland town and his current residence near Brisbane has been picketed by protesters.

First Division

Narrative

On the 3rd of August 1914 the Australian government offered to send an expeditionary force of 20,000 men to Europe, which it decided to organise as an infantry division and a light horse brigade. Accordingly, the First Division was formed in Australia in August 1914. Intended to be representative of the nation as a whole, it was organised from contingents from all states. It was originally intended to send the division to England for training and thence on to the Western Front but the division was diverted to Egypt instead on the recommendation of Colonel Harry Chauvel, owing to the state of training areas in the United Kingdom. The division arrived in Egypt in December and began training at Mena, near Cairo, and in sight of the great pyramids.

On Anzac Day, 25 April 1915, the First Division made an amphibious assault at what is now known as Anzac Cove, on the Gallipoli Peninsula. On Anzac Day the division was unable to capture its objectives but secured a toehold on the peninsula. It served throughout the campaign there. In May the 2nd Brigade was re-embarked and participated in the attack on Krithia at Helles but returned in time for the Turkish counter offensive on 19 May. On 15 May, its commander, Major General William Bridges was fatally wounded by a sniper. During the August offensive, the First Division captured the Turkish positions around Line Pine. Finally, it was involved in the withdrawal to Egypt in December 1915.

In March 1916 it moved to France, taking over part of the line in the "nursery sector" around Armentieres. On 23 July 1916, it joined the Somme Offensive, capturing the town of Pozieres at great cost. A second tour of Pozieres followed in August and a third at Flers in October after a rest break in the Ypres sector.

In 1917 it was involved in the pursuit of the Germans to the Hindenburg Line. While maintaining outposts close to that line around Lagnicourt, the division was struck by a powerful German counterattack on 15 April 1917 and beat it off. In May it relieved the Second Division in the Second Battle of Bullecourt.

After a rest spell, the division returned to the Ypres Salient and participated in the Third Battle of Ypres, in which it fought with great success at Menin Road in September and Broodeseinde in October.

In April 1918 the First Division halted the German offensive at Hazebrouck. It remained there, apart from the other divisions for four months, engaging in a spirited and active campaign against the enemy. It rejoined the Australian Corps in the Somme region in 1918 in time to participate in the Battle of Amiens and fought on to the Hindenburg Line.

This three-day conference is offered in the Group Relation tradition which offers a unique opportunity to study the conscious and unconscious dynamics involved in how groups organize themselves and interact with each other. This conference is not a passive learning event that relies upon lectures. Instead, the learning is experiential. Participants study how leadership, followership, authority, task, boundaries, and roles operate in the different group experiences they enter during the conference.

The females of this specie seem to select distant and/or more secluded locations to rest. They seldom offer a setting at the pond with a diffused water background. However, like many of her sisters now this gal is parked on a pond reed... she must be trolling for a mate... (the males typically all hang out at the pond edge!). This image is minimally cropped... it's close to what the camera viewed.

Call me Snake offers an optimistic provocation – ‘imagine what could be here’ by Judy Millar. On a walk into the city October 3, 2015 Christchurch New Zealand.

The work is comprised of vibrant graphics of Millar’s looped paintings, which are adhered to five intersecting flat planes, and draws inspiration from the forms found in pop-up books. The colourful piece will add a dramatic and rhythmic counterpoint to the city’s current urban landscape — a mix of flattened sites, construction zones and defiant buildings that have stood through the quakes. The work employs theatricality, playfulness and visual trickery, whereby the viewer is unsure about the work’s flatness or three-dimensionality; and it has been designed to offer a different perspective from each angle. The bright colours interrupt the grey of the work’s surrounds, and as buildings pop up around it,

SCAPE 8, New Intimacies curated by Rob Garrett was a contemporary art event which mixed new artworks with existing legacy pieces, an education programme, and a public programme of events. The SCAPE 8 artworks were located around central Christchurch and linked via a public art walkway. All aspects of SCAPE 8 were free-to-view.

The title for the 2015 Biennial – New Intimacies – came from the idea that visually striking and emotionally engaging public art works can create new connections between people and places. Under the main theme of New Intimacies there are three other themes that artists responded to: Sight-Lines, Inner Depths and Shared Strengths.

In 2008, I was lucky to be offered this head by the wonderful Weslie on DoA who created the original design based on the Draenei from World of Warcraft and had it cast as a Minimee. She is one of 2 heads cast.

She became my mini project. The head had a minimal chin/underchin, so I added apoxie sculpt to the neck hole to increase her chin and also moved the neck hole back so the head sat better on a body.

I wanted her to have 'sexy' curves, so she was originally destined to be on a a dollfie dream body. Unfortunately, I found that the paint rubbed off too easily. My second choice was a Luts girl body which took the paint well and also has nice curves.

I liked the look of the original grey clay master photos that were sent to Weslie for approval, so I decided she needed to be grey. Which was fortunate as the head was a light normal skin tone while the body was luts peachy normal skin. In addition, the apoxie sculpt on her chin was white and obvious. The body and head were coated with MSC and (since I have no plans to ever need to remove the paint, so permanent isn't a problem) sprayed her with primer for a nice smooth all over grey look.

I added pinks and blues to a white white and found some pupiless purple eyes that work very well with her. The corset she is wearing in most photos came from a fullset doll I sold. I had to find a replacement. She has lots of jewelry made by OrangeBabyDolly.

Her horns fit on pegs and tend to fall off. I keep meaning to figure out a way to insert magnets. Maybe someday...

Shy try's to offer Cheeky a peanut but it might be a little early in the breeding season for her to start accepting gifts like this from her mate yet. She refused polietly as she could and Shy flew away. During breeding season the male likes to show his manliness by offering the female food as if to say I'm a big strong guy that can feed two. I have a video clip from last year on YouTube where Cheeky accepts the nut from Shy on my window sill.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-sJYvKzcLW8&feature=channel_page
