Elk Mountain offers sub-alpine vegetation, with superb views. It is moderately challenging year-round destination for hikers in the Abbotsford, Chilliwack area, and can be enjoyed in a half or full day excursion. In the distance is Sumas Prairie, part of the eastern Fraser Valley, with the Coast Mountain Range on the horizon.

Rarely am I offered lately with the opportunity to travel ... It seems that as I'm getting old, work overload flows all around me in, alas, a gradually increasing rate (the opposite should have been both desirable and chronologically "right") ... Anyway, I had only one day and I tried to make the most out of it ...

We decided to pay a visit to Kastoria, one of the most picturesque cities of West Macedonia and as it turned out of whole Greece ... The city is small, not more than 10.000 inhabitants nowadays, yet it is located at an area of great history and of course tradition ... A city that is blessed to be built at an amazing location. all around a peninsula within the lake "Orestiada" ...

I didn't have the time (nor the guts anymore) to pay a visit to its magnificent whereabouts around my desirable photo-shooting hours (which is just before sunrise), so I tried to maximize the result out of intense daylight conditions ... If such is the case, I try to pay extra attention in capturing proper light (always set my camera to slightly underexposed image), as well as to synthesis issues (either foreground interest, leading lines, water mirroring effects) or why not all of them if one is lucky enough to find a vista that combines all of the above mentioned elements ...

Literally set among the suggestive rocks of the Lucanian Dolomites , Castelmezzano , in the province of Potenza , is one of the most precious jewels of Basilicata . Its perched houses reminiscent of a crib , the rugged peaks that frame it, the small alleys and stairways that run through it offer enchanting views that truly conquer everyone and give off the perfect atmosphere for a weekend of high romance . The splendid location would be enough to make the resort an ideal destination for an extremely pleasant couple's stay , but in reality Castelmezzano has much more to offer visitors in search of a romantic atmosphere.

The emotion begins to grow already along the way when, after crossing a spectacular gorge , you find yourself walking along a tunnel dug into the rock , at the exit of which the view of the village clinging to the Lucanian Dolomites reaches straight to the heart, giving you immediately the impression of being in the right place with the right person. The shapes of the rocky peaks and their play of lights and shadows explain their evocative names, ranging from "beak of vicetta" to "lion's mouth" up to "anvil" and " golden eagle" , while the historic center with its typically medieval structure, enchants with the beauty of its houses wedged between the rocks and surmounted by roofs in sandstone slabs . Walking along the narrow alleys of the historic center and climbing the small stairways, you reach magnificent panoramic points from which to enjoy a splendid view of the surrounding landscapes , in a continuous interaction between urbanized views and natural sceneries that have earned the town the nickname of the city - nature .

Furthermore, Castelmezzano is included in the list of the Most Beautiful Villages of Italy and, admiring the artistic and architectural treasures that it holds, immediately explains why. Piazza Caizzo with the splendid mother church of Santa Maria dell'Olmo is only the beginning of a magnificent itinerary dedicated to history and beauty. Walking along the main street of the town , with the Town Hall building to adorn it, you reach the ruins of the castle and, entering the streets of the center, you discover other precious buildings ranging from the elegant Palazzo Ducale to Palazzo Coiro . Going outside the town and exploring the surroundings, you will discover other enchanting surprises. The ancient mills with roofs made of local chiang chimate stone slabs dot the Caperrino valley crossed by picturesque buildings, stairways and bridges , while vestiges of distant eras peep out among the uncontaminated scenery of the Gallipoli Cognato Piccole Dolomiti Park .

Officially offered for sale on February 10, 1955, the first Chrysler 300 was athletic looking with 300 gross horsepower aboard, it was among the quickest cars of its time. It was able to achieve 60 mph in just 9.8 seconds, according to a test in Mechanix Illustrated by “Uncle Tom” McCahill. Uncle Tom also spurred the car up to a full 130 MPH. Tom McCahill and others in the contemporary automotive press used the term Beautiful Brutes” to describe Chrysler 300 series cars.

Besides being the most powerful production car of its time, the first Chrysler 300 was also among the best handling, thanks to a heavy-duty suspension. It can very well be considered an ancestor of the later muscle cars, though much more expensive, luxurious and exclusive.

The most prominent display of the first 300’s attributes did not come in any showroom, but on racetracks around the Southeast. Back in 1955, NASCAR stock cars were, in fact, stock production vehicles. Except for some crude safety equipment and numbers on the doors, they were almost indistinguishable from the cars the public could buy. With absolutely no financial support from Chrysler, Mercury Outboard founder Carl Kieckhaefer campaigned a fleet of white 300s during the 1955 NASCAR and AAA seasons with drivers like the Flock brothers (Tim, Fonty and Bob), Norm Nelson, Buck Baker, Speedy Thompson and Frank Mundy to name a few.

The Kieckhaefer 300s were spectacularly dominant and overwhelmed the factory-backed Chevrolets and Fords. Tim Flock took the driver’s championship while winning 18 races. He finished in the top five an astounding 32 times. His brother, Fonty, took another three victories, while Chrysler campaigner Lee Petty took home three trophies. Suddenly, the 300 had a glorious racing heritage in addition to its advertised Hundred Million Dollar Look.

Considering the short model year for that first 300, 1,725 were sold at an expensive $4,109 base price.

This was the car to start the legacy. Virgil Exner, then Chrysler's design chief, called his new styling direction "The Forward Look". The 1955 300 had a 2 door coupe body and clean, simple Chrysler Windsor side and rear quarter trim. Up front were two large Imperial “egg crate” grilles. This first of the letter series cars did not actually bear a letter. Chrysler’s original manuals named it the C-300, which was an appropriate name for the car. The “C-” designation was applied to all Chrysler models, and the 300 stood for the engine horsepower.

It was THE first modern American production car to achieve this 300hp output. Power came from an updated source already available; the fabled “Hemi” 331 cubic inch hemispherical head engine, modified with a “full race” cam, solid lifters, larger dual exhaust, and topped off with 2 4-barrel carburetors. The suspension was made firmer, allowing it to handle far better than most cars. It was given a special performance PowerFlite 2-speed automatic transmission, while the inside remained pure luxury.

Notably, it was fast. The battle lines would be drawn when it ran 127.58 MPH in the flying mile on the sands at Daytona Speed Weeks, and averaged 92 mph in the Daytona Grand National stock car race. This car dominated the stock car circuit, earning the NASCAR and AAA championships its first year out.

The car was available in three standard exterior colors: Black, Tango Red and Platinum, combined with a luxurious tan leather interior.

Advertised as "The Car That "Swept the Field" at Daytona..."

Production: 1,725 units

The summer time offers more light to chase the Manchester Turn out of Cedar Rapids, on duty 17:00 during the week. While traffic has really hit the dumps with the virus stuff going on, the Cedar Rapids corridor has stayed steady for the most part. Even enough traffic this week for a 2nd motor to find it's way to CR. With that being the case we chased the Friday night job out of town with a decent set of CN power. Here the job tops the grade near MP 6, a few miles north of Ryan as the shadows get long on their northbound trip. At Manchester 567 will trade trains with 565 who is working west out of Dubuque.

Technique offer us new possiblities for experimenting. I believe curiosity is present in all human beings. The park is home to much of the immense Grand Canyon; a mile (1.6 km) deep, and up to 18 miles (29 km) wide. Layered bands of colorful rock reveal millions of years of geologic history. Grand Canyon is unmatched in the incomparable vistas it offers visitors from the rim.

Located in the wooded hills of the Wood Mountain Uplands, the community of Rockglen is central to an area rich in Indigenous and archeological history. It is a full-service community that offers a variety of businesses and facilities to its residents and visitors alike. The town and surrounding area provide endless choices for recreational activities including boating, hiking, touring, photography, hunting and a variety of local events.

Vestiges from before the last ice age, a land of hidden treasures, petrified wood and fossils, hammers and arrows of the Assiniboine, Plains Cree, and Blackfoot peoples. But it is the followers of Sitting Bull who left one of the strongest impressions. Following the Battle of Little Bighorn 5,000 Lakota Sioux Lakota fled to the Wood Mountain Uplands where they were under the jurisdiction of the North-West Mounted Police under the command of Major James Morrow Walsh. The hills, first surveyed by the Henry Youle Hind expedition in 1858, were used for hunting by day, and at night fires could be seen of meat being smoked. In 1879 the U.S. Cavalry set fires in Montana that spread and burned the grasslands of Rockglen, causing the ensuing famine and leading to the toponym "The Burning Hills".

It is in these Burning Hills where the Ferbane ranch was located. By 1910 the homestead became a post office, soon German and Austro-Hungarian settlers built homesteads out of tar paper shacks and sod huts. Wood building were built for businesses, such as the pool hall, which also contained the Wesley Methodist church, which became the Wesley United Church of Canada in 1925; Valley City became an unofficial community.

To the north the Kent homestead became a post office in 1915. Soon thereafter Beromé Prefontaine built a store and by 1917 Joeville, named for Joseph Prefontaine, was founded as a village. In 1926 Joeville was a prosperous community when the Canadian Pacific Railway constructed a rail line south from Assiniboia, Saskatchewan. The Saskatchewan Wheat Pool and Alberta Pacific both built elevators along the line. Joeville split into the French community of Liseux near the new elevators and 26 buildings were moved south to the new CPR junction near Valley City. Valley City was relocated north of the tracks and incorporated as the Village of Rockglen in 1927.

Services were soon established in the tiny village. Mr. Sproul ran a school out of the Pinking Hotel on Centre Street. It was a community effort with desks and blackboards furnished by local carpenters and fundraising organized by Mr. Sproul. To the relief of Centre Street commerce a proper school house was built in 1928. It had three rooms: Mr. Preston as principal and two classes instructed by Miss Campbell and Miss Jarvis. In 1929 the Red Cross built a hospital, and a permanent post office was built, as was a branch of the Imperial Bank of Canada, and Charlie Switallo’s hardware store, which was the longest running Rockglen business to date.

Electric lighting was provided from 1929–1950 by the Rockglen Power Company, which ran every day from dusk to midnight, when three flashes indicated shut down. It wasn’t until 1950 when the Saskatchewan Power Corporation came to Rockglen that full 24-hour 120- and 240-volt electric service came to Rockglen.

The depression caused rural decline which was furthered by mechanization of agriculture during the later stages and in the time following the Second World War. Nearby Constance and Strathcona were dissolved and the one-room rural school houses were replaced by a system of buses and Bombardier tracked vehicles for winter use. Rockglen grew to a population of 500 persons when incorporated as a town with L. J. Bolster elected the first mayor. During the 1960s a new school was constructed, as well as a new post office, school office, Imperial Bank of Canada, and hotel.

The late 1970s saw a rise of inflation, combined with exceptionally high grain prices; many farmers retired and moved into Rockglen. In 1975 construction began on the Poplar River Power Station in nearby Coronach commissioned in 1981. 1981 also saw the construction of a new Saskatchewan Wheat Pool elevator. This is currently the last elevator in Rockglen and is owned by Poplar Valley Producers Co-operative. The resulting population influx had led to development of homes along Second Avenue and construction of Hillcrest Drive. To date, these are the newest housing developments in Rockglen. In 1988, Rockglen resident Jack Wolfe was elected as a Progressive Conservative Member of Legislative Assembly a position in which he served until 1991.

During my afternoon walk today, November 25th, in an Atlanta suburb, I spotted these beautiful roses still in bloom—an uncommon sight for this time of year. Thanks to the unusually warm November weather, these vibrant flowers continue to thrive, bringing a touch of summer to a late autumn day. A lovely reminder of the unexpected beauty nature can offer.

It’s difficult to close the door on the things that once made us happy, that offered bright promise during dark times. Things that helped us find love or hope or happiness.

But the hard truth is that not everything can last forever and things end; sometimes abruptly, sometimes fading away slowly until they’re just a speck disappearing in the distance. We can’t hold onto things forever, no matter how firmly we fix our grasp upon them. We can’t force people to stay and seldom can we control the situations we find ourselves in.

But what we can do is remember one simple, undeniable reality. And that is that new prospects will always arise from the end of something else. That it’s okay to let go of something that ends, even when it’s devastatingly painful. Even when it’s something that seems like it’s being yanked away from you before you’re ready. The ending of things will sometimes feel excruciating, even when we deep down know that it’s the right thing, the only thing.

Who has ever started something new, something exciting, without finishing something first? It’s only when we’re defeated by the prospect of something ending that we think to pull ourselves up and move forward. Life is a process, a series of ups and downs. A sequence of unpredictable happenings. It’s not black and white and most of the events that fill up the timeline of our lives are very rarely planned or expected.

But isn’t that the whole point? Isn’t that what life is meant to be about? The things that end and the new opportunities that come out of them. The ways in which we fight and struggle and conquer and overcome.

One day you will wake up and it won’t hurt so bad. That you’ll go through entire days without playing out that ending in your mind. That soon there will be whole stretches of time when it never even crosses your mind, until one day it’s just an uncomfortable memory.

Know that one day you will look back and see that event not as the end, but as a starting point. As the pivot that turned everything around. As the thing that gave you the courage to try something new, something that would come to a beautiful fruition.

Let yourself realize that every wonderful thing that you’ve experienced is so because something else ended, not in spite of it.

Things will end, while others are just beginning.

Stony Batter on Waiheke Island offers a good view to the outer limits of the Hauraki Gulf, a semi enclosed part of the Pacific that is Auckland's maritime playground. It is largely protected from the Pacific by Great Barrier Island and Little Barrier Island to the north, and by the Coromandel Peninsula to the east. Cape Rodney on the left and the Coromandel Peninsula on the right are part of the mainland. A line connecting them with Little Barrier Island and Great Barrier Island (left and right centre) forms the limit between the Hauraki Gulf and the Pacific Ocean beyond. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hauraki_Gulf_/_Tīkapa_Moana#/map/0 The environmental integrity of the gulf has suffered through the introduction of industrialised fishing peaking in the 1970s. This severe overfishing, which unbalanced the marine environment by the removal of a main predator in the food chain, led to a widespread disappearance of kelp beds and their substitution by kina barrens. Kinas are sea urchins which flourish in the absence of the New Zealand snapper and lobsters, their main predators. Dredging of the mussel beds of the Firth of Thames reached a peak in 1961 shortly before collapse of the industry. Particularly damaging are the results of nitrogen carried into the gulf from surrounding agricultural land, with almost 90% coming from the dairy-farming runoff into the Firth of Thames. In 2000 New Zealand established the Hauraki Gulf Marine Park. So far the park has failed to prevent overfishing and reverse the ecosystem collapse. Much more needs to be done to clean up the environmental degradation created by commercial interests in the past and present.

The Mirador Ferrier Lookout offers views with a unique perspective of Lake Grey, the Paine River, the massifs and their snow-capped peaks, and everything that Torres del Paine has to offer. Torres del Paine National Park, in Chile’s Patagonia region, is known for its soaring mountains, bright blue icebergs that cleave from glaciers and golden pampas (grasslands) that shelter rare wildlife such as llama-like guanacos. Some of its most iconic sites are the 3 granite towers from which the park takes its name and the horn-shaped peaks called Cuernos del Paine.

When Galileo offered his opposers the chance to look into the telescope, many of them refused. They thought that that instrument was a trick of the Devil, a deceit to our perception to drift man away from the way of Truth - away from God. This so-called argument had been used so many times - e.g. when the opposers of the theory of evolution claimed that the Devil put bones and skulls of stranger antediluvian beasts into the rocks to deceive man - to demonstrate the mighty powers of unreason. I really cannot grasp how people can maintain such stances today but, well, this happens all the day, so this could be a limitation of my own little mind. However nobody can deny that that rough telescope - together with Van Leeuwenhoek's primitive microscope - was the beginning of a revolution in our way to look at the world and understand it. The scope of our (admittedly augmented) senses spans now from elementary particles to the remotest regions of space and time, including along the way that awesome marvels that we call cells.

That said, this humble shot portraits a coin operated telescope (a rather pompous name, but I am aware that many people love them, and there is even a group in Flickr dedicated to them) in Montisola, Lake Iseo, Italy*. I must admit that I have not looked into it (just like Galileo's foes...), but I loved the strikingly fresh view on the world offered by its external metal shell - especially how it creates two images of myself: one could go at work as usual, and the other could leisurely wander capturing photos all the time ;-)

The Hetet School of Maori art kindly offered free online tuition on how to weave a kono (4 sided basket) and rourou (5 sided basket). I watched the first one before going outside and to my delight the flax I bought about 15 years ago was the perfect one for weaving.

Chose a few leaves for my first basket ensuring there was no rain forecast and made sure I left the middle 3 leaves (else the flax may not survive). I followed the instructions and cut the leaves into 10mm wide strips which are known as whenu. Then to strip out the moisture each piece is run over a knife 3 times on each side. Once all 16 were done the weaving began.

I really enjoyed the whole process and was pretty stoked how well they turned out. I've made 4 more since these ones including 2 in cardboard which is rather different to work with. The feathers on the kono are from a kereru fight I witnessed above my driveway. A small poof of feathers parachuted to the ground. They were of course all collected for future decorating.

1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass 4-4-2 W-30

After four years of being offered as part of the F-85/Cutlass line, the 4-4-2 was finally promoted to its own trim level, beginning with the 1968 model year.

By this time, the three-digit definition had evolved, so instead of representing four-barrel carburetor, four-speed transmission, and dual exhaust, “4-4-2” now stood for 400-cu.in. engine, along with the four-barrel and dual exhaust. All three were standard equipment through the 1969 model year, while equipment such as a four-speed manual, performance gearsets, and the W-30 package (which included the Outside Air Induction system) were optional.

Like the 1968-’69 models, the ’70 4-4-2 was available in three body styles, a two-door post coupe, which Oldsmobile referred to as the Sports Coupe; the two-door hardtop Holiday Coupe; and a convertible. After being prohibited previously, the 455 was not simply available, it was standard and offered in two varieties. The base 4-4-2 455 used “E” cylinder heads that helped produce 365 hp, backed in standard form with a three-speed manual. A heavy-duty suspension, accompanied by 14-inch plain-steel wheels and drum brakes, was also standard.

Its base engine was a 455-cu.in. engine that had been steadily improving since its 1968 debut. The 1970 4-4-2’s base 455 was rated for 365 hp, but the W-30 version–bolstered by a camshaft featuring an intake/exhaust valve duration of 285/287 degrees and .472-inch lift (with automatic; 328 duration and .475-inch lift with manual trans)–was rated at 370 hp.

The big performance option was the W-30 package, which provided a fiberglass hood and corresponding air-induction system, wide body stripes, appropriate badging, front disc brakes, and a 370-hp 455. This engine was fitted with special equipment not found on the base 455, including “F” heads, aluminum intake manifold, special camshaft, and distributor.

We had foodie friends over for pizza dinner. My son cooks excellent pizza, and he offers some unusual creations, such as steak pizza, Chinese style duck pizza, Doppio Zero pizza with arugula and prosciutto di Parma, and a desert pizza with espresso. Since we have these dinners I don't feel like going to local pizza restaurants.

After fifteen years, Michael Raedecker returns to The Hague with a major solo. Not everyone is offered the most beautiful place - downstairs, next to the garden room - but his work is unique. No one embroiders so ingeniously and effectively: highlighting a painterly sketch or downright obstructing it.

MICHAEL RAEDECKER EMBROIDERS

FURTHER THAN ANYONE ELSE

Regular visitors know. The first painting behind the glass entrance door sets the tone. Do not seek guidance in the introductory text that brings up too many side issues. Just look carefully and take the time to ask yourself a few open questions. Does the image grab you by the throat? Or does it make you sink in thoughts? Does the painter want to hurt your eyes, or does he want to seduce you? He may even avoid you a little, every artist has his own strategy. Rest assured; you can trust your intuition. Answers will follow. The subconscious immediately goes to work.

The Raedecker exhibition starts with a swimming pool. Private, that is, so we zoom in on the 'American Dream'. Is that dream still attractive? A nervous, somewhat ominous atmosphere lingers around the blue water. A diving board tries to lure you into a foolish act, be careful not to hit the bottom or the side. Making a bomb may be a better idea. A few bounces up and down the board and then a big splash. But after a few times, the fun wears off. Is there any fun in pools like this? The seat at the edge lends itself to a bathrobe and a towel but is not lazy enough to sit on for long. The steps to climb out of the water are also tiny. Everything considered, it is a worthless swimming pool. Why would anyone want something like that in his backyard?

Anyone who reaches a certain status in life seems to be condemned to it. A house with a swimming pool, expensive cars on the driveway, and perhaps an extramarital lover to take the stress away. It's all part of the attainable dreams of a wealthier class. However, the situation Raedecker describes is far from relaxed, the black plants even look threatening. The fact that pink and yellow shine through only makes it more sinister. Where is everyone? This is a false idyll, and the exhibition title hammers the cause into your brain with two sharp blows: MATERIAL WORLDS. Behind such words lies social criticism in wait.

MATERIAL PAINTER

Michael Raedecker (1963, Amsterdam) leaves all interpretations to the viewer. He looks from above, at our concerns on this planet, and what he thinks about them he hides in ambiguous titles (always in small letters). It’s a game to penetrate the ideas behind it. Material Worlds evokes the much vaunted and loathed 'global economy' dominated by a materialist ideology. The system has shameless winners and elsewhere (outside our view) entire tribes of people who are exploited without scruples. Not to mention the consequences for nature and the climate. These aspects are discussed time and again in disguise.

However, viewed up close, 'Material Worlds' also applies to the technique he developed as an artist. He uses an ingenious mixture of paint and fabrics. For scaling up he uses printing techniques. Most strikingly, however, is the sewing and embroidery. Technically speaking, he is a 'painter with matter' and a confrontation with his work becomes a physical sensation. Viewed from a distance, the whole image seems clear, but you are automatically drawn in and viewed up close, the use of materials provides additional information: the swimming pool discussed appears to contain 'mirrors and beads'...

More famous artists work with fabrics, but with Raedecker you sense the need to exploit the material in a new, completely original way. After a fashion study, he went to Paris. However, the world of Haute Couture, in which everyone is a manic work slave, did not suit him. He quit after just three months. In terms of character, he is a pure soloist. A necessary quality to lead an artistic life. Via the Dutch Rietveld and Rijksacademie, he ended up at the Goldsmith Academy in London and got stuck in that metropolis. It earned him a nomination for the famous Turner Prize in 2000. Although he did not get it, international contacts opened up. His gallery operates worldwide.

ALL ALONE

The Art Museum in The Hague provides a balanced picture of the past thirty years. The tests with which he was accepted at the National Academy already testify to his originality. What many people underestimate is the price you pay for success. At great heights, you are completely alone. That is reflected in all his work.

But isn't that true of every mortal? We communicate all our hopes, gains, and misfortunes on our smartphones, yet everyone arrives at the finish line alone. That realization is a major constant in Raedecker's work. Again, where is everyone? There is no living soul to be seen in his paintings, while traces of human presence can be found everywhere. Anonymous bungalows are situated in empty landscapes, often with double garages. Because of movies that almost no one can avoid these days, the bungalow - a typical American form of architecture - quickly evokes dramatic stories. What is about to happen is unclear, but Raedecker directs the emotions toward fearful suspicions with all-pervading colors and well-aimed details. When such a lonely bungalow is swallowed up by the dark blue night, five stiff trees are enough to evoke a thriller. Why is the garage left wide open? Brightly lit and empty…

Anyone who walks back to the beginning of the exhibition – highly recommended! – stumbles upon a nighttime swimming pool. Nobody uses it.

My review was published in The Hague Central on April 25. Retrospective in het Kunstmuseum. On show until August 11, 2024.

[20:02] Stephan Frontenac had brought Libby over from the small dock near the Hound's Head and sitting on his porch he offers her some iced tea he had inside. Sitting down he asks "How are you?" not having said much on the short trip over.

[20:05] Libby Kayor slipping onto to the chair as taking the ice tea sips the chilled drink. Blue eyes glancing arouund." I am well.." pausing for an moment before saying," I hired an bodyguard.."

[20:07] Stephan Frontenac raises an eyebrow at that, looking at you and then asks "What are you paying him with? And why did he say yes?"

[20:10] Libby Kayor smiles with an soft laugh," oh dear Papa did you forget I am an Frontenac. Why I used my money of course..." shrugs slim shoulder." not sure why he said yes.."

[20:11] Stephan Frontenac takes his glass, sipping some of the sweetenned herbal mixture and says with an exale that shows his depth of thought "You really should figure out why and where his loyalties lie. I would hate to see you tortured because he got some pussy from a cowgirl in the park."

[20:15] Libby Kayor delicate face frowns slightly at that," yes well I am not stupid...." sipping own tea before turning head to glance up toward the old lighthouse." you know mother would hate this place. I think it has an certain charm. Reminds me of the french countryside.."

[20:17] Stephan Frontenac nods to your words, all of them and answers "Your mother has been in worse, much worse. You would be surprised, behind that shopoholic is the of the strongest survivors I've known." He smiles kindly "Maybe not always the most knowledgable, but she always got what she wanted in the end."

[20:22] Libby Kayor head tilts when looking at her Papa," you still love her..." not really asking more stating. Libby still trying to come to terms with what you had told her. " why did you marry Mother? From what you told me seems just so strange"

[20:25] Stephan Frontenac unbuttons his shirt and then pulls a bottle of wine out from under the table. Dumping the rest of his ice tea on the ground he fills his glass with the wine and says as he offers you some "I'm not sure. Your mother was unlike anyone I had ever met. She was ... the sluttiest girl I've ever known." He smiles and says "The Dolls, the city prostitutes, were actually getting ready to beat her up because they felt she was taking away their business."

[20:30] Libby Kayor dumps out her own tea as hold glass ot for some of the wine. Blinking as you basicly call her mother an slut," so that is what draw you to her? I know she is beatiful even as not to smart.." an sip of the wine is taken before asking," so you saved her from an beating?"

[20:33] Stephan Frontenac rubs his chin, then chuckles at Lubby's words as he had given Beth plenty of beatings himself. He shakes his head "No, I only learned about that once we were married. No, I fell in love with your mother because she was both smart and stupid, strong and weak, easy to manipulate and more often then not manipulated me to get what she wanted. Life with her was never boring in the first year or two we together. She did not approve of my activities, but your mother is a practical woman and accepted me for who I was."

Minutes before taking my photograph "Lisbon Soul, we spent several hours walking through the streets of Alfama. In this artistic Portuguese neighborhood, there are many possibilities to photograph the city's famous trams next to somewhat deteriorated but charming historical buildings. Going down the alleys from the Church of San Vicente you can get some compositions including part of the temple in the image.

As I have explained in detail in other images, it is not an easy task to photograph the trams, but even so I really enjoyed the challenge of including these traditional vehicles in my photographs. We could not limit ourselves just to observe them, in some of our images and videos we had to add the Lisbon trams. Although this time I got some photos of the famous yellow tram 28 again, I have opted in this image for the red tram, an option only for tourists, much more expensive, but also safer than the yellow trams (used by local people, but also for many pickpockets due to the large number of people who use them for their cheap price). Whether you choose one or the other option, a tram ride is a unique experience that cannot be missed on a trip to Lisbon.
