Objective: To create a DVD box set for Beirut.
The band is definitively indie/pop but they have strong old-time balkan folk influences as a result of the singer/songwriter, Zach Condon's travels. In this package design, i tried to tie together the ideas of travelling (as suggested by the size/feeling of the booklet that suggests to a passport, and the personal-feel to the box), and early 1900's influence (the use of a dark stained wood, emblems, format), while still seeming stylistically contemporary.

The 2014 program will focus on ways in which regional development policy and complementary instruments can enhance competitiveness and effective governance at local, regional and transboundary levels.
Participants will examine tools for environmentally sustainable innovation, human capital development, creation and financing of SMEs and the transition to a low carbon economy. They will compare practical projects and mechanisms that have delivered successful outcomes for competitiveness and inclusive growth, in and beyond Europe, in order to identify transferable tools and connect stakeholders who are leading cutting-edge work around the world.
The program will be held from May 17 to May 22, 2014 in Salzburg, Austria, with a one day, high-level pre-session meeting on May 17-18, focusing on European competitiveness, the shift to low carbon economies, and the role of sustainable cities.
The goal, to construct a bridge with the given materials in the allotted 4 hours, that can sustain a great deal of weight. A "weigh-off" is held the following day.

MSET works by relaying sensor target inputs to a vehicle-mounted command-and-control and fire-control system. That system determines grid coordinates, generates flight paths and launches the appropriate number of missiles. Those missiles are guided via real-time waypoint updates to the target location, and image processors on the missile provide positive identification, target lock-on and track to terminal.

I really like these, they're pretty close to the quality of the made-in-Nottingham stuff although the treasure chest joins will need some clean-up.

Objective 2: Creative Exposure
The camera mode (M) and why I chose it: I chose Manual mode because of the options of changing the setting to the way I want the photo to be taken.
f stop used and why: I used f/3.5 because it was the smallest aperture for the 18-50mm lens, which lets more light into the camera so I could use a low iso.
Shutter speed used and why: 1/1000 because I wanted to prevent motion blur and camera shake to have a nice sharp image.
ISO used and why: 100, because I wanted to reduce as much noise as possible in the image and to give a sharper and more vibrant feel to the photo.
Exposure compensation and why it was used: 0 because the exposure and lighting outside was good, and I did not see a need to change my exposure.
Focal length and why: 18mm, because I wanted a very wide angle to capture as much room as possible to give it a very landscape feel and not a cropped in zoom photo.
Objective 3: Elements and Principles of Design
The principles of design demonstrated (describe the use): This photo has examples of unity, contrast, balance, and value. The unity in the photo graph is the lush green grass goes well with the bright blue sky which creates a warm feel together. The contrast in this photo is that the colours are very vivid, and the grass and the sky are both very vibrant and colourful. The Balance in this photo is the grass patch is in between the posts and the fence, also in the center of the photo is a telephone post. The value in this image is the shadows on the grass which is the same colour but gives a different shade of green.
The elements of design demonstrated (describe the use): This photos elements of design has examples of line, colour, shape, and form. The lines in this photo are leading lines and diagonal lines. The leading and diagonal lines are the fence, and the wooden posts on each side of the picture which both lead your eyes to the end of the photo so you eventually view the sky. The colour in this photo is the bright green going well with the darker blue. Both these colour go well together. The shape in this photo is the wooden posts and the fence making a triangle in the image. The form in this photo is the wooden post being dark on one side and bright on the other which gives the posts a three dimensional look.
Objective 4: Lighting
Type of lighting and why: The lighting in this image is hard lighting and overhead lighting because the photo was taken outside. The sun was overhead of the area, and the lighting that the sun was giving off was not diffused in any way. No clouds were in front of the sun which gave the image hard lighting. You can see the harsh shadows by the wooden posts.
Objective 5: Post Production (ex. dust/spot removal, resize, contrast, white balance, sharpening, borders, etc.)
Corrections/adjustments made AND/OR techniques applied: What I did in post-production for this photo is that I shot the image in RAW, so I had a lot more to work with on the computer. Because I shot in RAW I was able to do noise reduction and add contrast without hurting the image. I added some colour correction, and contrast/ colour grading. I than sharpened the photo and to finish it off I added a light vignette around the photo.
The objective is to remind people of the benefits of Alka Seltzer, an antacid that allows you to eat anything without giving you indigestion or heartburn. Thus, the ad tells us that all animals that can be eaten are “good” and “go to heaven”. The ad appeared in general interest magazines and also in publications specialized in food.
