To ink or not to ink?
I figured for the next couple of things I'd try some more inking techniques, and see what ink does work with and what it doesn't work with.
The green and browns were winners, straight from the bat they worked well, and sunk into recesses. The red however did not. Like painting, a single coating of red seems weak and allows the grey to poke through to easily. I'm going to see if additional layers of washes, both red and maybe a few minor browns makes a difference to the red...
Pro's of using inks:
-Time. Very quick to coat an entire miniature.
-Looks good as flesh. Flesh has all these natural recesses, and the inks show them really well on a miniature.
-Thin. If you're like me and paint many layers of something using an ink for a really thin basecoat is ideal.
Con's of using inks:
-Messy! The ink seems to get everywhere...
-Drying time. Much longer than a GW wash.
-Contamination. It's very easy to contaminate an ink with another color if you don't let it totally dry. Even using the same color as the potential to 'wipe' away the first coat unless it's totally dry.
The next step is painting over the inks... which will be happening tomorrow. I got smacked around a little at Kendo last night and I'm sore... :(
GCSE Final Piece.
inspired by all of these oragnes,
the photo has cut about 5cm all along the right hand side,
which is a shame, the top right corner was class, if i do say so myself.
After a change in colour scheme plans here is the result of the new scheme.

OPERATIONAL OBJECTIVE CAMERA
The device on display is an element of the standard set of cameras and reconnaissance equipment carried by the SR-71 in the 1970s. It is a stereoscopic camera designed to photograph the ground under the aircraft's flight path. This produces a three dimensional image that greatly eases the identification of the objects that are photographed.
Emily begins to study and looks for her highlighter in her pencil pouch.
This shot begins the shot sequence of objective to subjective shots. This begins the shot as an objective point of view because it is a general over the shoulder shot of Emily looking for a pen.
Filter Recipe: Objective filter, with posterization of 2, edge intensity of 5, and an edge thickness of 5.
+ I like that this photo is a candid, and I also lobe the color of the water, and the intensity of the color
- I don't like how the kayak and the water are the same color, it doesn't really stand out

Having fun with my Coolpix 885. I removed the front lens element. The photo shows the lens (color induced by its coating) and part of front ring.
Spec: coolpix 885, 1/83 s, f/2.8, -0.7 IL correction, full size, not tampered.

The "chop suey sandwich" is a very localized delicacy - so much so that it really can only be found in Salem or Fall River. I had never heard of such a thing until recently, but once I did I was determined to try one.
Turns out, it's a heaping pile of what I grew up calling chow mein, glopped on to a hamburger bun. Of course, I devoured it anyway....and then ate half of Ed's since he didn't care for it.

Description: Final Project for Photo Design
Objective was to create images based on a Photographer we researched prior to receiving our final assignment. I chose Chase Jarvis as my Photographer and his movement into Fine Art Photography using strictly iPhone and iPhone editing applications. I was inspired by his concept of "Stylized Authenticity", the creation of highly considered images in which every element is carefully controlled and resonates with true authenticity. In other words trying to make the images ring true in order for you the viewer to believe what you are seeing. (Paraphrasing Jarvis's original quote).
I shot these images in Downtown St. Paul, MN in less than a two hour period before losing daylight. I managed to capture over 350 images in that time. In post production I used Jarvis's new book "The Best Camera Is the One That's With You" as a guideline in editing my photographs. I used only layer adjustments and a custom vignette mask to edit the images, other than that what you see as far as framing and vantage point is exactly what I saw while capturing the image. I hope you guys enjoy... and Chase if your reading this Thanks for being an inspiration.
