First week in "Sketchbook Skool" with Danny Gregory, we begin to practice documenting our lives by drawing objects directly in ink, and then adding a bit of color.
An evening dinner and performace of Thai dancing. The large gold decoration was on our table. The dancers tall gold helmets seemed to go well with it.
It's catch-up day...

Sketching at the Cooks River which I have been passing on the way to the airport. Trying out Lynne Chapman's technique from her Barcelona workshop for the first time. It is the technique she illustrates with red chairs.
My goal here was to simulate the effect of shallow depth of field (closer part should look as it's out of focus). I had no actual model, therefore, to simulate this effect, I had to use my knowledge of math and optics - point spread functions, Gaussian spread and so on.
3×3 inch (75×75 mm) ink drawing, stippling technique, using 0.03 and 0.1 Copic Multiliner pens.
I also can tell, that "0.03mm" label does not reflect an actual width of line on regular drawing paper - it's something like 0.2mm on regular paper and 0.1mm on glossy paper and film.
Another machine related to shipbuilding at Cockatoo Island. This one reminded me of a sewing machine but is not. Any ideas what it might do?
Went to the Botanical Gardens yesterday and wanted to do a panorama to follow on across the accordian fold from the bamboo I drew a week or so ago. Drew this VERY fast & furious.
Tämmöinen kirjepaperikuori syntyi aamuaskartelun tuotoksena. :) Vähän mallia katsottu erinäisistä Googlen kautta löydetyistä kuvista. Leimasinkirjaimet päätyivät tännekin, täytyy näemmä vielä harjoitella jotta saa kirjainten välit tasaisiksi...

i was in capitol park, near the state capitol, when i did this. All my pictures are small little things these days, i need to go big again. Well i say big, they're not really big. july 8, 2007, copic multiliner, cotman watercolour, moleskine, you know the drill.
My alma mater, Franklin High School, Seattle. Blog post: www.tina-koyama.blogspot.com/2012/10/franklin-high-school... (Copic Multiliner SP pen, watercolor, Stillman & Birn sketchbook)
Liz, Borromini and I went sketching at Cockatoo island on Christmas Day. I arrived early at Circular Quay because there was only one ferry an hour to the island. I drew the ferry that was in front on me. On board the ferry to Cockatoo Is, the men who worked on the ferry were fascinated with my sketch of this ferry.
I drew the crane on the island in the afternoon. I love the cranes. They're all different.

I have two wallets. The black one is the everyday one, with credit cards, stamps, receipts and all that junk. The little blue one is made from ikat cloth and I bought it in Ubud in Bali probably the first time I went there about 25 years ago. I always use it in situations when I don't want to take my credit cards and valuables.
I used watercolour pencils for this one as I needed them to draw the cloth.
“Keep your thoughts positive because your thoughts become your words. Keep your words positive because your words become your behavior. Keep your behavior positive because your behavior becomes your habits. Keep your habits positive because your habits become your values. Keep your values positive because your values become your destiny.”

The Pitt ink does not dissolve the black outlines drawn with Copic multiliners, so they are quite compatible and a good combo for mixed media projects. By contrast, the outline and letters drawn with the Rotring Art Sketching Pen are not water-resistant at all and immediately smear and pollute the Pitt ink washes (sample on upper right corner).

Art Journal Week 8: Found Poetry
(I just snipped a little bit from anything I could find until I got tired of snipping, then I made a poem from as much of it as I could -- there were 3 words left over. Heh. Gesso, paint, Copic multiliner.)
"Missing"
From the abstract to just special
These two must know still more
It's black inside that sour circle
You can bring on mirrors corralled,
Fling down the hammer,
Shoot nothing.
Learn different and more:
Repeat.
