This graduating senior sang the national anthem at the rally for the 71st Bell Game, the much anticipated football challenge between Lincoln and Washington high schools in San Francisco, California. The game is today, October 4th, 2 pm at Lincoln.
Go Mustangs!
She spent the rest of the rally rushing around, taking photos for the yearbook.

Some needle felted ornaments I made for Christmas. I felted over a foam sphere. It was the first time I had felted anything in a while, it was more fun then I remember and I couldn't stop making things! :)

Voila! A multi-week labour of love to make this gingerbread castle facade. Sugar cookie base with gingerbread crumbs and sanding sugar for "dirt" and "grass", cake sparkles for "water" and both royal icing and melted chocolate for glue!

Just launched of Iris Häussler's work at Daniel Faria Gallery. Of the three exhibits, this one of wax encased (most of her work is wax encased) "body parts" with X-rays and manufactured official documents, help tell a story behind the multi-piece artwork. This one of the heart (I found a connection due to my grad studies speciality) tells the story from 150 years ago of a first love. The interesting bit is that the observer deduces the entire story from the displays presented. Neat and complex. Very interesting.
Iris Häussler, Also Known As…

"Also Known As… continues Häussler’s examination of the themes of authorship and hidden identity, a core characteristic of her practice, in the form of sculptures, objects, drawings and concepts.
"Häussler invites viewers to examine works “created” by her fictional characters as works of her own. Placed on pedestals and set in vitrines, each object unfolds its sculptural qualities within the pristine setting of the white cube, asking for nothing more than the viewer’s curiosity. Upon second reading, however, the exhibition becomes much more complex: it becomes a group show where Häussler exhibits alongside Mary O’Shea (2008-2010 Art Gallery of Ontario’s exhibition He Named Her Amber) Ted Wilson (2012 Sydney Biennale) and Joseph Wagenbach (2006). As diverse as all the works appear, they are interconnected by a layer that is beyond the visible.
"Throughout her 30-year career, Häussler has obsessively encased objects in wax. The exhibition features a selection of these wax works, which feel like frozen moments in time, and bring together processes and properties of sculpture, painting and photography. Some deal with familial relationships or an individual’s relationship to a familiar space. The act of embedding someone’s personal objects into wax, whether these articles were cherished or abandoned, parallels the photographer’s act of capturing a moment in time, thus producing an object that ignites a sense of memory, time and place for the viewer.
"The show also includes an artefact that forms the core of a 150-year-old story – a piece of jewellery that marked a key moment in someone’s first encounter with romantic love, a chimera sculpture symbolizing a man’s never resolved inner trauma."

Walked Ruby in local woods and it was a bit cooler this morning was looking for some more macro shots and got a multi layered fungi and an impressionistic image of the pink bramble flower and we are always looking for that little extra and when I looked at some Campion I saw that there was a very tiny fly on one of the flowers so thought that this would make my image for today.
