Austria series: Moody Marmots l (cinematic edition)

Last August was very wet in the Austrian alps. When we visited the marmots, there was a constant, cold drizzle and low clouds crept over the mountain tops. But alpine marmots are adapted to this kind of weather and it didn't diminish their appetite. Curious as always they checked us out for nuts.

I've processed this photo a bit differently (hence the cinematic edition) to match the mood created by the lousy weather that day.

🇩🇪 Im letzten August gab es jede Menge Regen in den österreichischen Alpen. Wir besuchten die Murmeltiere im Dauernieselregen, was ihrer Laune (im Gegensatz zu unserer) nichts anhaben konnte. Tiefe Wolken krochen über die Berggipfel und füllten die Täler - es war sehr wild und dramatisch, weshalb ich dieses Bild etwas anders als gewohnt bearbeitet habe.

I don't know what demon possessed me this morning? the deeper I got into Lathkill Dale the less I could see, I wouldn't mind but I had drove through pea soup to get here. I stuck it out and was rewarded with a very moody shot of Parson's Tor, landscape isn't always about watching a beautiful sunrise (that's my excuse and I intend to stick to it)

This was the view to the left of me today while straight ahead was gorgeous blue, aqua and yellow

I got up early for a Hua Hin sunrise, but Mother Nature was uncooperative. :)

We took a trip down to the beach again today. Not so many tourists this time! The weather was very changeable, but interesting.

An early morning shot of Glacier's Lake McDonald. I find it generally stormy here along the Continental Divide, like I did this morning. Never a bad day though when here.

Lovely moody, misty evening with great cloud formations from Eoropie beach during the blue hour

Ontonagon, Upper Peninsula Michigan. Lake Superior shoreline

The cloudy skies make this Maine scene all the more moody. Captured this with the 9 Stop ND and aperture set at f/22 to get the 30 second exposure. There was a slight sea breeze so the longer exposure smoothed out the reflection.

This perspective was also taken very low to the pool of rain water ponding there in the rocks giving a neat expansive view and reflection.

Looking down to the northeast & the Strait of Juan de Fuca from a viewpoint on the road to Hurricane Ridge, it is a steep climb. Olympic National Park - Clallam county - Washington State.

I just love autumn - colors, mist, fog, smell. For me the best of autumn is mornings like this one on the photo when its so calm you could hear leaves fall from the trees. Simply best of the nature.

Due to road conditions, I didn't get to the Canyon until mid/late afternoon. I got a few shots, then white out, and the unseen sunset. I grappled trying to get a shot like this before the white out with patches of low hanging clouds. I think the moisture in the atmosphere made the "clear" part still a little murky. I think this is the best one.

Another from last Saturday morning taken around 50m away from where I shot my previous image. This took a bit of faffing around to get separation between the foreground rock, tree and the fells behind but the low cloud really helped 😁
