[EN] MATERIAL WANT is the first collaboration of artist/researcher Matthew Plummer-Fernandez and net art pioneers JODI. Bringing together their respective practices, they explore hybridisations of algorithms, errors, Internet found objects and digital fabrication. The result of this joint effort? A series of 3D-printed sculptures, uncanny, yet familiar objects, between incongruous assemblages and distorted reality.
[FR] MATERIAL WANT est la première collaboration de l’artiste/chercheur Matthew Plummer-Fernandez et des pionniers du net art JODI. Conjuguant leurs pratiques respectives, ils explorent les hybridations que génèrent les algorithmes, les erreurs, les objets trouvés d'Internet et la fabrication numérique. Le résultat de cette recherche commune? Une série de sculptures imprimées en 3D, objects à la fois étranges et familiers, entre assemblages incongrus et réalité distordue.
[NL] MATERIAL WANT is de eerste samenwerking tussen kunstenaar/onderzoeker Matthew Plummer-Fernandez en JODI, pioniers van de netkunst. Ze brachten hun praktijken samen en onderzochten algoritmische hybridisaties, fouten, objecten geplukt van het internet en digitale machines. Het resultaat van deze gezamenlijke inspanning? Een reeks 3D-geprinte sculpturen, die zowel vreemd als vertrouwd lijken. Het zijn onlogische assemblages en vervormde weergaven van de werkelijkheid.

If you are looking for a reason to hate me, this is it. (Most people don't need a reason.) I drive an SUV.
My reasons for driving this vehicle are good ones. Let me bore you with them now:
1.) I live on a major, regularly plowed route but park not only on a side street but in an alley, which never, ever, ever gets plowed by anyone, unless my heavy-equipment-selling neighbor up the road has time and feels generous, which was twice in fourteen years. One of us should get to work in the winter.
2.) I was pregnant when I got the first one in 1997. It was (yet another reason to hate me) a three-year-leased company car from my father's fleet, so I was paying very little for it.
3.) I have two dogs (had three!) and a child and a sister who is allergic to dogs; she rides in my car frequently, for long and short trips. The dogs cannot (do not, rather) crawl over and hair-up all my other seats.
4.) I was a house painter. The ladder and other materials fit perfectly in or on the car. It can hold lots of cement, too, for the stuff I make.
5.) I haul lots of art, which needs to be flat.
6.) It has a really good stereo.
7.) You can fit in it comfortably.
8.) It drives like a car, not a truck.
9.) I don't travel far; in fact, I have only gone about 40,000 miles in the past six years. So when you think about it, I'm using much less gas than you are, even with my pitiful twelve miles per gallon.
10.) It is paid for, completely. I owe nothing. It has never, in six years, had an illness. It is one of the best vehicles (next to my used Honda Accord, when the Accord was not a luxury car) that I have ever owned.
If I had to replace this car, right now, I might be inclined to get the same thing, even knowing what I know about gas and oil. Cars are expensive. My dogs are sloppy, wet, disgusting beasts who get walked in the sloppy park twice a day, sometimes before I go to work, which means I'm in a rush. The back is theirs to cover with hair and mud and slop, and I only have to vacuum it later, once a month or so, and it's all cleaned.
That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

In Deutschland sind zurzeit (Stand Januar 2006) 9 Lizenzen zum digitalen zellulären Mobilfunk vergeben, davon je vier für die GSM- und UMTS- Netze der in Deutschland aktiven Mobilfunknetzbetreiber und eine UMTS- Lizenz von Quam. Die zehnte Lizenz der mobilcom AG wurde Ende 2003 an die Bundesnetzagentur zurückgegeben.

Die Struktur der gepulsten technischen Mobilfunkfrequenzen - vor allem die der geplanten UMTS-Frequenzen - nähert sich immer mehr biologisch wirksamen Frequenzmustern an, so daß "nichtthermische" Effekte, d.h. Resonanzwirkungen am biologischen "Substrat" ohne meßbare Energieübertragung immer wahrscheinlicher werden, wenn sie nicht schon Realität geworden sind. E-Felder, wie z.B. die natürliche elektromagnetische Impulsstrahlung der Atmosphäre (VLF/ELF-Bereich, "Wetterstrahlung") sind zwar Teil des naturgegeben Umweltinventars des Menschen, wie auch die natürliche Radioaktivität, die Evolution hatte im Laufe von 2 Milliarden Jahren aber Gelegenheit, sich ihnen soweit anzupassen, daß, wie im Falle der Wetterfühligkeit, von ihnen allein keine gesundheitlichen Dauerschäden verursacht werden können. Dies zeigt sich z.B. darin, daß die nur bei bestimmten Wetterlagen kurzfristig auftretenden resonanzfähigen Sfericsimpulse nur reversible und keine dauerhaften Veränderungen z.B. in der Raumstruktur von Kollageneiweiß (Gelatine) bewirken.
Der geplanten flächendeckenden und ununterbrochen wirksamen Strahlungsbelastung durch die gepulsten technischen E-Felder des Mobilfunks der neuen Art und bislang noch kaum bekannten biologischen Wirkungspotentials kann hingegen kein Bürger entgehen, auch wenn er sein Händi entsorgt oder sich abseits in den tiefen Wald verzieht. Es ist sogar zu befürchten, daß es durch die Überlagerung der biologisch wirksamen natürlichen und technischen Felder zu Synergismen kommen kann mit der Folge gesundheitlicher Schädigungen neuer Art
